Topic: Serious Discussion / Should We Legalize the Hunting of Feral Cats?

Who said anything about foxes?
As for feral cats, I say give pest control the green light to capture and put down any feral animal. Don’t see what the big deal is.
It’s not like we’re talking about giving the populace free reign to go running around shooting cats in an urban environment… right?

Really? And here I was thinking it was the PATRIOT Act’s fault.

Its actually more because of carelessness.
Securing your privacy online is hard, but possible. It simply requires you to read all those T.O.S legal mumbo-jumbo before agreeing to anything and of course steering clear of social networking sites.

I believe you are talking about Idiocracy a pretty funny film with Luke Wilson and Dax Shepard.

I don’t think its nearly as sinister as that. I believe the government is too busy trying to keep the world balanced on it’s axis (and them at the top, admittedly) to bother supressing stories about inventors and entrepreneurs.
I think the matter is simply that the collective human consciousness only has room for one hero in a certain field.
It’s the same reason people remember Lindbergh as the first man to cross the Atlantic (But not the two brits who did it years before), the reason we remember Jackie Robinson (But not Moses Walker), Elliot Ness (Not George Johnson or Frank Wilson), Paul Revere (Not Sybil Ludington), Rosa Parks (And not the countless African-Americans who took a stand (seat) before her.

Topic: Serious Discussion / What took you to choose your religion?

I did not come into this world believing in a supreme deity, I did not grow up believing in one and nothing has changed since.
So far, there have been no arguments made that have convinced me otherwise.
I should add that I was thankfully raised in a rather agnostic society and as thus did not have to suffer the stigma and indoctrination of my elders.

Compare the list of nations that have Outlawed the Death penalty to those who still practice it.
I have to say, the US stands with some exalted company…
Afghanistan, China, Iraq, Iran, Korea, Pakistan, Nigeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Embassies, Vietnam…

Topic: Serious Discussion / Any chance of human evolution?

Evolution is something that happens at a very slow pace, and our technology is rapidly developing methods for us to use to accelerate and change the way we might evolve further.
These might begin with artificial limbs, enhanced sensory organs and perhaps end up with some semblance of super-human man/machine,

Topic: Serious Discussion / What's your opinion on Furries

I have no real problems with the furries. I dont really think much about them or find their mentality particularly engaging.
I do somewhat get annoyed however when they bring up the matter of acceptance or “The furry movement”, especially when they equate their struggles with that of the gay community.
What you do in the privacy of your own bedroom is your own business, and if you walk around in public in a fursuit, I’m not going to go out of my way to antagonize you, but dude… Expect some stares.

The american political system is a bit fubar. Mind, I am not condemning them alone, things aint necessarily any better elsewhere, but the two party system is just mindbogglingly odd.

Topic: General Gaming / why do ppl like "sims" type games???

Are you asking why people like “The Sims” or just simulators in general (Like the Tycoon series or Sim city)
The Sims allow the player to create all kinds of alter egos, micro manage entire lives without having to deal with (much of) the monotony of daily life.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Hot Coffee in Meat Boy

The other day I played some game here called Sierra-something.
It featured a bunch of stick-men terrorists you had the task of dispatching with an arsenal of firearms.
Despite being cartoony and all, you were treated to a pretty graphic takedowns of some of these baddies, featuring bits of brain and entire scalps shooting off like crystal corks.
I’m also sure there are other games on Kong that feature similar and worse scenes of graphic violence.

In that light, a couple of red blocks with eyes bumping up against each other seems somewhat innocent. It’s all rather a reflection of how in modern society, Sex is bad, but violence is fine, which is to say, highly hypocritical.

But then again, This is a privately owned website with it’s own guidelines and rules, and the owners should be free to censor and do whatever they want.
Whether the guidelines should be amended is a completely different topic.
(They totally should.)

Topic: Off-topic / YOU ARE IN A CLOSET WITH A LIVE GRENADE

The burden of proof rests with he who presents the extraordinary claim.
But that’s neither here nor there, we’re talking about a grenade in a closet.

Coming up with good last words Might dampen any final regrets when second five rolls by, which is why we should all be prepared.

I also think it is an interesting direction to take this thread.
You are in a closet, a grenade is about to (possibly) kill you. Last words?

“At least I went out with a bang…”

Live does not mean the pin has been pulled. Therefore, walk out and find (leisurely) someone I hate to throw it at.

I believe he means that the safety pin is out and that the Striker Lever released.

For the sake of saving argument and weaseling out of the situation:
You are in a 2.5 by 2.5 meter closet, with 3 m high ceiling. The doors are locked from the outside and in your hand is a standard pinapple-type MK2 Frag grenade with no pin and lever released.
You have 5 seconds before the thing goes off.

Last words?

If there is room and enough junk, I guess i’ll try and put it on the corner and heap whatever I find on it as quick as possible, hoping to shield myself from the iron shrapnel. Or course, I’ll probably burst up pretty bad, but I might survive, sans limbs and eardrums…

Topic: Serious Discussion / Refuting Christianity with Logic?

I wouldn’t exactly call those two examples gods or godlike entities.
Certainly, they might be powerful, but they are not supernatural, infallable omnipotent or omnipresent.
Perhaps they are within their domain (the subjects of the hivemind might be completely subject to the whims of the “overbrain”), but that brain would still be fallible, prone to any calamity it encounters in the natural world.

Wow, that’s like 180 on my take. Fun game-play but the story is laughably bad.

To some of the other posters:
I thought this thread was called “Worst games”. I agree, I’m no fan of some of the games that have been mentioned, like Final Fantasy or Halo, but if they are the worst you’ve ever played then you’ve had some very lucky streak with playing games.

As for my worst game experience: WH40k : Firewarrior
