Topic: Tyrant / Poll, Alternate artwork for upgraded cards

I think it makes sense for upgrades to come with upgraded art. The lowest rung could be MS Paint 4/1 type art… that could be level 0 downgrades with terrible stats. It could be a source of gold revenue to downgrade your cards to MS Paint art instead of selling them.

Topic: Tyrant / In-game typos - Grammar Nazis are welcome

Not as easy to fix all at once but can fix if noticed.

This vim regex does it for me:

:%s_\([.?!]\) \([A-Z]\)_\1 \2_g

The authors of the <desc> and <speech> text have been grossly inconsistent on whether one or two spaces should lie between sentences. I’m not going to take a side on what is right, but for a stretch of early missions the <desc> consistently uses one at the same time <speech> is using two. I will be holding off on warbond purchases until one or the other is decided upon.

Point 1: This has been done before, specifically by the game Clash of the Dragons, so not super original.
Point 2: This was prioritized over fixing everything else wrong with this game, so once again, delaying critical fixes to multiple areas?

Remember that it is the artwork that got a change. The artists wouldn’t be the ones to fix bugs/make functional changes/etc.

Just have fun.

-Pip

Although, I don’t think the artists would be the ones making this art. This is pretty much what genuine efforts at artwork by programmers looks like.

EDIT: replied in wrong thread. Not moving it though.

Topic: Tyrant / [not dev, but for the devs] Please reduce the time overhead

If these things bother you so much, sure, you could speed them up slightly.

Keep working at your quest decks to the point where you can do them all with a few decks. “Whatever I’m currently using in faction wars” is a win for most raids and for certain quests. The only time I ever Edit Deck is to swap out for a more appropriate commander, which usually means Emanuel for Behemoth.

Your memory should eventually cover the association of enemy visual with quest step number, and you can force the issue by spending one of your twenty minute sessions developing a memory aid. “Look for your deck for that step number” should mean nothing more than looking for a predefined in-game deck whose name can be a list of quest steps it is meant for.

With raids, try to do them all, without focusing on any one raid. With a modicum of flexibility you should never have to start your own raid or find someone else to (except during events, in which case, give up).

Topic: Tyrant / [Dev] What is best in life?

- ui overhaul? why? i like how it’s 4 clicks to get to tournament history; finding way to start new raid every time is like a mini quest; scrolling to first zone with each new event is the best part of it

+1

Finding what finished raids have unclaimed rewards is a simple matter of trying them all.

Checking what the next tournament will be is a simple matter of “Battle”, “View” (the current tournament), “<< Main”. Only 3 clicks if you know what to click.

The “hide card filters” button is… possibly the most useful button ever for people owning 20 cards or less and who want to see what a strip of the lower midsection of the background image looks like.

You can probably damage the keyboard further to prevent the built-in keys from doing anything at all. I am not sure why people are doubting your ability to find another computer/keyboard/solution and saying goodbye here.

Topic: Tyrant / [Dev] Do not share accounts

yes, yes you should

the benefits of reducing stamina to 0 outweigh the costs

a 5 hour delay is nothing in the scheme of things

The opposite of everything you say is a pretty good point. And your post history shows you’re a novelty account who does this on purpose.

The only reason (as far as I understand) that players do not want a much higher stamina cap is due to Faction Wars. What if we drastically increased the stamina cap (e.g. 300 to 600) but limited the amount of stamina you could spend in a faction war to, say, 250?

I think that would make it too complicated for the layman user.

Why are people so opposed to increase stamina cap? It would be a level playing field for all

What if war length was increased to 8 hours instead of 6?

I’d like to hear an answer to this question too – why? Especially if we prevent ‘feeders’ by reducing stamina to 0 when a new player joins a faction.

I don’t care what the stamina cap is but please don’t reduce new members’ staminas to zero. Should I have to wait a couple of hours to see what kind of ratio a trial member can pull?

Devs don’t care a beep about account-sharing. So any actions done from your account are your responsibility unless proved otherwise. If you want to prove that you were hacked just bring all the evidence from your provider, police, or even better court judgement. %)

We would need every bit of communication he attempted from the time he started playing til now to see if he ever A) gave up his password or B) gave up his canvas link. And we might have to go even farther back if he uses the same password for multiple things.

“No, see, I was hacked and then the hacker gave my friends the password.”

Topic: Tyrant / Strike all record*new*~Highest single attack~

Let’s not give in so easily. Augmented strike all, no enfeeble. Player 1:

Player 2: (slight but important difference in 9th card)

turns 1-23: (both players)

Mimics target each other. All strikes—it’s the damnest thing—target Slug Borg. Don’t worry, he’s ok! It gets a little heated toward the end with all those attack 1’s. However, before a DNA Assimilator has to die, mimics can start targeting the weaken all on one side, and the protect 1 on the other, barely sparing the worst off.

turn 24: (player 2)

Player 2’s 8 DNA Assimilators use Augment Xeno 1 on the last friendly DNA Assimilator = 8.

Player 2’s Hydraulis, Slug Borg, and 8 DNA Assimilators all mimic the opposing Windreaver. Mimic doesn’t preserve faction specification, and every one of them is free to target that same DNA Assimilator for their Augment 3, who is now augmented 8 + 3 * 10 = 38.

Across from that DNA Assimilator is Vivisectionist with cooldown 1. He emulates these 38 augments.

turn 25: (player 1)

Player 1’s 7 DNA Assimilators use Augment Xeno 1 on Vivisectionist. 38 + 7 = 45.

Player 1’s Hydraulis, Slug Borg, and 7 DNA Assimilators mimic Player 2’s Windreaver. Their mimicked augments target Vivisectionist. 45 + 3 * 9 = 72.

Vivisectionist strikes all for 72.

I know this works because it happened 4 or 5 times in the arena this morning.

Topic: Tyrant / [To devs] Instantly create new content

Perhaps I’m missing it, but I don’t see people whining about quests anywhere near as much as conquest, tournaments, raids, the arena, events, and “stop developing your game, I’m trying to play it, stopitstopit it hurts I quit”. I suppose that makes quests a smash hit. Their main problem is power creep enabling people to do them all with a small number of decks, but adding more quests every so often might be a solution to that.

^ This or at least the ability to privatize info like how Kong allows you to make your profile private. I also have access to a university’s supercomputer..

Using an university supercomputer to calculate tyrant decks is very similar to throwing out food so those in need can’t eat it. I’m really proud of you for even thinking about this!

Edit: I really wonder how far people are really willing to go to get .01% better results on decks. Wake up or something :|

It’s probably worth reiterating once in a while that none of the sims are accurate enough for that kind of precision to be meaningful (between simulator bugs and Tyrant bugs). Finding the best deck for a particular mission, by whatever estimate available, is an intriguing game in itself though.

You are in black darkness and confusion.
You have been hugger-muggered and carom-shotted into a war, and you know nothing about it.
You know nothing about the forces that caused it,
or you know next to nothing.
You are not to win this war.
You cannot win this war.

Oh snap. You’re right. That makes this all kind of silly.

Yeah I’ve never reported this one as a bug in any sim because I couldn’t relate it to win rates. Sometimes I really don’t know what Synapticon is thinking.

I can see why this would help in the FB or Armor enviornment, but I don’t see what this gets us in addition to what we have now with Kong chat (other than automatic parcing of links to enrich with raid or faction specific data, as in the example in the OP). How would this be better/different from what we have now with Kong chat?

I just think that the dev’s time would be better spent in other enhancement requests or fixing issues.

-Pip

PS – FYI – there are legal issues with chat and those under 13 years and also under 18 years. So this would add a wrinke there. Just another thing to consider.

If there are legal issues, then I assume they apply equally to faction chat.

Topic: Tyrant / To the Sim programmers

Lots of good ideas here. I would love to see a repository of unit tests in whatever form that takes.

I also think that every detail we know about skills, event order, and other Tyrant logic should be added to the existing Tyrant wiki. People are going to continue finding that site either way and it might as well contain good information. Forums work for discussing skill details but the wiki would be a much better place to hold the results of those discussions.

Is this all communicated by deck hashes? I liked the idea of getting rid of those, or at least supporting additionally a simpler list of card IDs separated by whatever character.
