Topic: General Gaming / Team Fortress 2

I love Team Fortress 2. I really believe it will still be played by thousands 5 years from now (if TF3 or an equivalent isn’t out by then). I played Team Fortress Classic on and off for ten years and I know TF2 is going to take as much, if not more, of my time. As far as the L4D series, good game and loads of fun, but I strongly believe it will be a passing interest in the years to come. L4D2 wasn’t much but a revamp of the first with a few improvements, and I don’t see any future installation being anything else.

Chrono Trigger tops my list with Earthbound a VERY close second. Final Fantasy 6 deserves a mention for the countless hours I played.

Was really surprised to see Earthbound on here. Earthbound is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. It’s up there with Chrono Trigger and a few installations of the Final Fantasy series. Haven’t played it in years and thanks to your post, I’ll have to give it another play!

Topic: General Gaming / Fallout 3 - good or bad?

I really loved Fallout 3. I was a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2 and to be honest, was turned off by the idea that 3 would run on the Gamebryo engine (a la Elder Scrolls: Oblivion). I thought the game would best be played top-down, like the first, in an updated engine. After the first 10 minutes, though, I was hooked. Fantastic story, great gameplay, dynamic characters; I really expected less, but it has become one of my favorite games.

As far as the DLC, I wouldn’t say they’re all worth it. If you’re absolutely crazy about the game, sure, get them, but don’t expect another immersive experience like you got with the main game. In my opinion, the only DLC worth the money is Broken Steel.

Half-Life 2 is a top choice for me. I also really loved Batman: Arkham Asylum. Command & Conquer: Generals is a top pick for RTS. Old adventure games are also a favorite of mine: Monkey Island series, Sam & Max series. And I have to add Protoype just for its massive destruction potential.

Agreed completely, I consider WinME a sick joke from Microsoft. You can find XP at a decent price now and, if you’ve got the money, Windows 7 is well worth the upgrade.

Half-Life 2, no question. But there is already a HL2/H3 thread :)

Topic: General Gaming / half life 2 or halo3 which ones better?

Half-Life 2, no question. I’m not a Halo hater, but the Halo series is extremely thin when put up against the depth of the Half-Life series. As far as multiplayer, HL2 Deathmatch and Halo 3 multiplayer are both fun. But if you put Halo 3 multiplayer up against Team Fortress 2, TF2 knocks it out of the park.

Just to be sure, I’d run through all the games you have installed via Steam in your Games list and right click, then click properties. Look for a “check file integrity” or something similar (not sure of the exact name, don’t have it available right now). Even if you’ve reinstalled, something might be fishy.

I’ve had my fair share of trouble with Steam, but never this exact problem. If all else fails, I’d uninstall all your Steam games, then uninstall Steam and delete your Steam folder and all contents. Then just start from scratch. HUGE headache, I know, but it might fix it if you’ve got no other options.

Braid was great, wonderful premise and constantly challenging.

If you’re really into music, I suggest Musaic Box. No action or adventure aspects, it’s more of a hidden object game with puzzles. But if you like puzzle games and love music, I’d definitely give it a go.

I loved both as well, probably spent more time with the series than any other RPG on the site. I don’t know if I’d consider the second better than the first though. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I felt that it fell just slightly short of the first. Either way, I’ll definitely be looking forward to a third.
