Topic: Tyrant: General Tyrant Discussion / Need advice for mission 65

Hi all. Mission 65 seemed damn near insurmountable, especially since the game screwed me super hard on gold decks – I don’t have Atlas, predator, tiamat, omega, piranha, sabre, missile silo, EMP, Vyander, Mawcor or really any of the cards mentioned in the posts on how to beat this mission. Instead I have 3 copies of Apex and Nimbus.

Anyhow, you should do the relatively easy Nexus Heavy Hitters achievement to get Xaender and hook him up with whatever Xeno forces you can muster. For me that was
Apex
Daemon
Rifter
Merciless Invader
Enclave Warlord
Xeno Interceptor
Xeno Mothership
2x Dominated Hatchlings
Aquabat

The Aquabat is there to siege his incredibly annoying structures (Blight Tower in particular). The Dominated Hatchlings are unfortunately crucial here and should be played early. Their decent damage (don’t just play with themselves if chosen to take the Weaken 2) and fairly excellent survivability (5 health, 1 heal, and only 2 deployment) give you a toe-hold into this mission. Without them it didn’t matter what units I sent- if it was fast then Weaken would render it useless and he’d tear through me, if strong then the Mawcor or his other absurd units would kill them before they deployed. None of the other 7 units are important at all – they could probably be anything and you’d still kill him a good fraction of the time – but big numbers for everything are highly preferred because the Hatchlings will buy you some time and you don’t want the rest of the deck being rendered useless by an unfortunate Weaken or Strike.

The really important thing is getting a foothold and deploy just 1 or 2 units that do enough damage that weaken doesn’t matter.

Topic: Kongregate / The 99 Bricks impossible badge...

Okay I’d like to try to help. I have not gotten the badge yet and aren’t sure that I’m going to bother so if that sort of thing discredits me feel free to skip this entry.

Number one rule is THIS IS NOT TETRIS. Zero holes tower does not equal victory. To get a good tower you need stability, which comes from cohesion. the L’s, T’s, and Z’s have potential for high cohesion if placed horizontally or across the top of more than one other block. Your goal is for additional blocks to add stability by pressing down in such a way that the tower stays together. Think of a brick house – every brick presses down on two others. If every brick lay right on top of another the building would not stand, even with cement. The upright long and square pieces have the lowest potential for cohesion. DO NOT PUT THESE ON THE EDGE OF YOUR TOWER. Imagine a tower that is 4 squares wide and 8 squares high – there are no holes whatsoever and it seems perfect but it will actually be very unstable. Try it if you don’t think so. This is because they don’t hold on to the blocks on either side of them in any way. Placing the long block horizontally is a great idea, even if a piece sticks out. Placing weight on top of this platform will add great stability to everything under it.

The real thing to avoid is playing this like tetris. Having a column for the squares, a column for the L’s and two for the Z’s will be the equivalent of a 8×4 square tower. Don’t do it. The most important thing in this game is to place each block over on top of more than one other block. The problem comes when the game gives you crap you don’t want but all I claim to understand and like is the theory of how to beat the game because the execution is sloppy and ugly.

Hope this helped someone and good luck.

You can beat Ruby with Dazers or Hades, KoR is just less painful.

Topic: General Gaming / Beat Planet Defender: Apocalypse in 13 easy steps

In that particular game i felt that I “got over the hump” just fine… I had half a dozen missile stations bashing through everything that the game threw with no trouble… That one devastating wave came out of the blue. So luck seems to play a role somehow.

I just beat the game with 4.2 billion people at the end. I followed a very vague framework of the guide but decided to start like this:

" 000I0I0I000 "
“0000B0B0B0000”

With only three cannons that I upped as soon as I could it was a tough pull: it took three games to get to missiles with just 3 cannons. At that point upped the bunkers much earlier to protect my precious income source… er i mean beloved citizens, and upped the economy centers to finish a build similar to your final one much sooner.

Overall, this guide gave me an incredibly useful framework for figuring out how many missile defense stations to have, for example. All in all, i beat apocalypse on my fifth time playing the game.

Thank you for your help Yeknomssa.

Toward the end of step 8 a wave totally raped me from 1.4 billion people to under 50 million….. not very cool dude…. guide worked great up until there…… I’ll try it again sometime.
