Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement - uh oh?
http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/4510/125/
http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/03/secret-copyright-tre.html
The above references two websites that describe what is going on.
The first is more detailed, and the second gives easy to read bullet points.
If this pans out, I am afraid the internet will suffer!
What do you all think?

Too many people.
The world is already killing people. How? By not helping the people of Africa.
It is a shame what the developed world has not done there!

I am sorry that many people don’t understand confidence and natural skill. When you obtain the amount of hours and years I have been online, with over 200,000 posts in over 10 forums moderating experience, you will understand where I am coming from. It’s truly not arrogance, it is confidence.

Exactly, we are all Americans, thus the enemy to the terrorists. See: 9/11
They don’t see the enemy as the military, they see the enemy as any American.

And you believe they will see it?
I know that he has seen it, he IM’ed me saying thanks back! I know he would see it due to the fact he is a member here.
I guess it was the ‘right way’ to congratulate them.
I also e-mailed him as well of course.

My point is that some kids are not being prepared for college in the way that they should be.

Is Hentai Okay at Kongregate?

You could not be more wrong.
Dislike me all you want, but the rules are paramount.
Sometimes there are more important things than enforcing the letter of the law. Kongregate is very much based on how we feel about something as a part of the overall situation at any given time, regardless of what some rules might say – they are kept vague for that very reason. Allowing us to use our understanding of the community dynamics makes us more useful than bots. Bots can mindlessly enforce rules just fine.
It’s ok if you don’t understand, feel free to come to my forums, over at syfy.com, and see the controlled posting environment.
Not really, bots cannot duplicate the role of a human who enforces the rules to the letter. ( trust me, I have seen countless sites fail to make one )

Moderating Kongregate is almost nothing like any site I’ve seen before – experience elsewhere, especially from someone who prides himself as being “The Sheriff”, is not what we want around here, and wouldn’t be terribly helpful except as examples of how NOT to do things.
If you want to offer legitimate feedback, feel free, but please, don’t throw around brash statements and expect us to accept them at face value because you’ve been moderating forums since before some of us could use a computer.
I never said I called myself ‘The Sheriff’, the users branded me that for my swift action and true belief in the rules. lol
My statements are not brash, I am sorry that it comes off like that. There is a saying, it’s not arrogant if one can back it up. It’s confidence.
I also agree that moderation Kongregate looks to be unique because of the fact the ’Don’t be a jerk’ rule is so open to interpretation.
Finally, all if my feedback is legitimate due to my 10+ years of moderating forums and running websites. ( Actually, I have been online since 1995 doing this stuff )

How these kids got into college is a wonder to me, clearly their teachers failed, the SAT scores failed, and in fact these kids probably fudged their way through high school.
It is very sad to listen to these kids as they can’t even articulate full sentences.
Protip: I am often invited to colleges to speak and take questions, questions about computers.
Just because they cannot pronounce something =/= they are ignorant. They may have speaking deficiencies or better yet, they may be under something like art major. Really don’t see your point in that post.
No, it happens very often, perhaps 3 kids in a class of 30 badly fumble everyday words. It’s not a physical impediment.
The point being is that these kids are not ready for college.

Yes, I am. Elona Shooter is a fantastic game.
NoaNoa is a brilliant developer that has an amazing talent for Flash development.
What I was and am most impressed with is the speed at which NoaNoa put out updates since releasing the game. I would even dare say the game would not have reached the prize and the amount of plays it has earned, if not for the amazingly fast and powerful updates to the game.
This is why ‘hard work’ is rewarded.

Plenty of people like me. I’d say if you’re disliked because you’re a mod, you’re doing it wrong.
Regarding hentai: It’s pornography. It gets you a week-ban, no warning, no exceptions. =) It’s one of the few rules which Kongregate has a pretty solid “no tolerance” policy on.
Actually, having mods around who don’t care about their popularity and don’t care if they are liked is a valuable thing, since friendships with the users of a site won’t get in the way.
Every forum needs a ‘iron fist’ or three I have learned from my experience.
Sometimes, you just need someone to enforce the rules without emotion. :)
EDIT: Asking if hentai is allowed on this forum is one of the most absurd things I have heard in the past week. lol

Congrats for earning the $1,500 dollar prize!
I am so proud of you and the game you created.
I look forward to all your future games, if you choose to make anymore!
Elona Shooter is the best flash game I played online in over 1 year.

How is asking someone for a sequel to a video game, making video games go down the drain?
I don’t see the logic in that statement.

No, they really didn’t. Even if you make the fallacious claim that all combat arms soldiers intend to kill people, you still have to understand that most members of the military are not combat arms.
I do agree with you on those points, but I also suggest that all the non combat arms service members are in a support role for the combat arms members of the military. The primary role of the military is to defeat the enemy.
The medics, supply clerks, community builders, etc are all working to defeat the enemy.

Will crime ever - stop?
My suggestion is that if everyone can obtain a job, go to school, and get a job, why would the need to steal still be around?
I know there are people who just don’t want to do the work to get the things they want I guess, no matter how free college is, how free health care is, how free transportation to get to their jobs are, etc.
