But perhaps you could tell me why spending would be wrong? If you make sure the economy is at least largely recovered before you begin to tax back your previous losses? And don’t you think that as the great depression only ended towards WW2?

I mean that is clearly a match between government spending and a decrease in unemployment.

In case you didnt know, spending increased during the 40’s because we were in this thing called World War II.

It stated that this was not an exhaustive list of the regulatory measures that would be presumptively permissible under the Second Amendment.

Oh gee look, SCOTUS admitted that firearms regulation is permissible in that D.C. vs Heller decision the gun nuts like to throw around.
So the Court didn’t just say “HEY GUNS FOR EVERYBODY NO RESTRICTIONS!!!”, huh? Crazy.

The outcome of D.C. v. Heller leaves some issues unanswered, including whether the Second Amendment restricts state regulation of firearms, and the standard for evaluating the constitutionality of other laws and regulations that impact the Second Amendment “right”. These issues will be the subject of future litigation.

Oh look, by your own quote it says it leaves questions of constitutionality that will be looked at later. It discusses whether or not a state can make regulations against the 2nd Amendment. You don’t’ have to be a lawyer to understand what that quote says.

Tell me softest, do you think it will stop with gun control like you are suggesting? You know better than that. So let’s say they manage to take our guns, the 2nd Amendment Right. What will they go after next, now that they have broken our Bill of Rights? Your wonderful freedom of speech? A speedy trial? How about freedom to be safe in your home and possessions? What are you willing to give up, because if they break the Bill of Rights they will clean house of all of our freedoms. Government is not our friend anymore.

What is it you think our government wants? They sure as hell don’t care about your freedoms. Or is it you can’t handle freedom and need a nanny government to guide you in all you do?

lol. look up here in canada. We dont have a right to guns, but we’re doing allright. This hole debate looks funny from up here, as you americans seem to tie guns to freedom. guns are made to kill things. buy a super-shotgun-taser thing if your you need to defend yourself.
And btw, no one could commit all those mass murders with a baseball-bat. non projectile based weapons are not as efficient or deadly, especially when you want to kil as many peuple as fast as possible

Tell you what…you can have your super shotgun taser thing…and I’ll have my twelve gauge backed by Castle Law. You may enter my house whenever you please…

Some socialist policies ≠ socialism.

And let’s remember that nearly all of the western world, and the rest of the world, had socialised healthcare in place in the 20th century; most of those countries were and are capitalist. The U.S. catching up with the rest of the world in the 21st does not make it socialist. Moreover, many countries have taxation which helps unequal poverty, by having the rich pay significantly more; the U.S. has this to an extent, but the extent is not near as much as, e.g., France (or most other countries) with their Robin Hood tax.

When your friends jump of bridges, do you follow them?

BUT, for here in the U.S., how many more drunk-driving deaths to innocents are there going to be fore booze sales restrictions are enforced?

OR, more specifically…the already strong legal controls on repeat offenders.
AND, let’s make them even stronger….eh?
I’m not gonna look up the number of such deaths & injuries…
BUT, I’m gonna make a very safe bet that they are much, MUCH higher than the gun incidents ya’re touting.

SO, bottom line….while I’m a strong advocate of protecting gun RIGHTS via sensible, reasonable, rational CONTROLS,,,I say let’s NOT go overboard w/ silly “knee-jerking-off”.
Let’s keep in mind the many other “stoooopid-human-tricks” that are equally as bad or worse and do some due diligence on what a COMPREHENSIVE effort at making our societies much safer might be and do what is necessary to “make it so”.

I think my head just exploded…I might…..I think….I think I might actually agree with u here, Karma…

I’m just wondering if whatever municipality you live in requires that you insult someone of the conservative nature whenever someone analyzes an individual that is of liberal ideology? Like, for instance, when Rosie O’Donnell declared in 2001 that the fires that occurred in the twin towers were the first fires in history to melt steel, despite the fact that steel-melting fires are required to make the steel in the first place, did you rush to her aid with “Nazi-Bush jokes” out of some sort of locally known social obligation; or am I entirely mistaken in assuming that your asinine antics are the result of a social norm instead of you yourself?

Well technically, it is not allowed to give any organization federal money to perform abortions. However, PP pays for its own abortion services and, recently, has received a large amount of federal grant money (Ol’ Barry).
Soooo technically, no.
But logically, yes.

Joe Biden said that Republicans want to put blacks “back in chains”. That’s fucking race baiting. That is the vice president of the united states, not some fringe whack.

Its not race baiting if the republican politicians in general give every indication of that being the type of goal they are after. Examples such as ‘Civil rights under threat as states plan assault on anti-discrimination laws’ don’t help. Maybe ‘put back in chains’ is a bit extreme. In the example cited, there’s just a movement to remove the right to vote from the blacks. It is still discrimination based on skin color by one side of the political spectrum, and it is absolutely something to be opposed.

Your skin color should not matter. If you are an American citizen, in theory you should be granted equal rights to every otherAmerican citizen, and these rightshould not be taken away from you for any political reason.

Please explain to me again how that is NOT race-baiting. And I don’t think the aim to take away black voting rights was ever mentioned to be supported by the Right Wing. Also, it appears as though a lot of this is about affirmative action…which doesn’t qualify as a civil right…

And, if you do somehow manage to accurately explain why Joe Biden was not race baiting, try defending this lovely piece from the oh so loved Chris Matthews:

Eh, how would you like that cited? It is public knowledge that the right has opposed basically every piece of legislation that incrementally introduced racial equality, fighting a constant rearguard against it. At the same time it’s been the left that’s promoted and passed that legislation. Same on gender quality and sexual equality.

Still waiting.

However, it’s so sensitive with good reason, the racist portions of the US right have spent a fair amount of effort on cleaning up their language and trying to whitewash their rhetoric to avoid the appearance of racism, while still doing all they can do promote their racial agenda. They’re not always very good at the whitewashing, but they try damn hard.

If you want to end the “race baiting”, as you call it, do some house clearing on your side.

And now that they are older and not able to carry around all that weight like they could have when they were younger, they are sitting at home living their life off of other peoples money because they are on disability.

You are aware that in a lot of cases, the weight signifies an actual physical problem that is not their fault, right?

For example, someone whose legs have given up due to joint problems, or circulation issues, or unmanaged chronic pain, is going to put on weight quite quickly after the issue becomes critical, as most cardiovascular exercise relies on use of the legs. Without them working right, their intake is going to exceed their output, and weight problems will begin to build.

In other cases, you have more extreme condiitions like elephantitis where bodyparts swell drastically (and painfully) due to a parasitic infection interacting badly with the immune system. Its not fat you’re seeing, but massive tissue inflammation.

In still other cases you have disabilities such as diabetes, which itself causes the patient to put on weight, due to the imbalance between insulin and consumption. In these cases again, the increased weight is not caused by laziness, but rather by an imbalance in sugar levels in the bloodstream (which triggers converting of sugars to fats, for long-term storage).

So when you look at someone who seems to be obese, don’t jump to the conclusion that they’re lazy. Look at other factors. If they are walking funny or using an aid, chances are the obesity was caused by their disability rather than the other way around. Same if they’re using a disabled parking space – they have a serious underlying health problem that is likely causing it.

If the extra weight is focussed on a particular body-area, again, its likely inflammation not fat. Even lupus willcause impressive swelling if its not properly controlled. There are still other unseen possible complications, such as type 2 diabetes, to contend with. Some of the remainder will be lazy yes, but by no means all of them.

I’m sure this is present. However, I’m also sure that these conditions do not include most fat people. A lot of people are fat simply because they refuse to put down the fork and exercise.

I think this is a cop out. Liberals have SLAMMED conservatives for so called “racism” for a long time now, on matters, like this Susan Rice thing, which have nothing to do with race. I’m sure there are conservatives who race bait, but the sides are hardly balanced on this issue.

softest, he’s been doing this for quite some time now.
For about as long I’ve been holding his feet to the fire,,,hoping he would further define this “revolution” of his. I’ve even build a huge fire of concern that were it to be of a more violent nature (guns & killing) w/ the NRA having a much greater advantage than peace-loving lefties wielding flower power

*Yet, jake-o has remained mute and appears to luv revelling in the ambiguity of his “predictions” on this.

I don’t think he quite sees the revolution as other are….at least the start of it.
The cause he sees can well be the start.
But, he sees it as being the “overly taxed” middle class going after those free loaders on welfare and bloated govt. in general.

Yes, “poor ppl” just might (as in being the initial CAUSE) give up and just fail to simply be the “working poor” any longer. jake-o so luvs to rail against the lack of responsibility of this “poor” for taking care of themselves. I wonder how our society would fare were they to actually stop working and become the problem of a caring society?

Would we simply lure them into bread lines and use those lines for firing squads….or maybe spike the kool-aid? I wonder why jake-o hints at “there will be blood running in the streets” if his precious middle class is further taxed…mostly for providing health care for the huge lower classes. Which, btw, includes (at least in the area of health care) now includes a lot of the middles classes. Yes, the tax burden is carried hugely by the middle class. YET, oddly enough, they still don’t want the uppers classes (esp. huge corps.) to kick in their FAIR SHARE in providing for the general welfare of our society.

Hell, maybe we would have to call in a really large number of “illegals” to support the upper classes in the style to which that are accustomed by this cadre of working poor. I wonder what would the outcome be were this working poor workforce to unionize and demand wages and benefits just like any other group of employed workers? I wonder what we would do w/ the “illegals” brought in to replace the “striking” poor.

Also, maybe these steps towards elevation of their economic status in our society would be the start of a revolution that is, in actuality, only a long overdue EVOLUTION of socio-economic fairness.* I know vika has already pointed out that this slower concept of “economic-correction” is what typically happens in a society that has at least 9 brain cells. She has a “meter” that can actually count them. 0¿~

Seriously…can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell what in the name of Christ you’re talking about, and where you’re getting this information from? I have been DYING to know for so long now.
