Topic: General Gaming / Monster's Den 3: Chronicles (MD3 or MDC)

There are 4 difficulties: Beginner, Standard, Veteran, and Extreme. There are also 3 choices of your defeat penalty: Lose experience, Lose items, or the equivalent of ironman mode which is now called Hardcore. I found the hardest difficulty impossible, but then I’m more of a casual player, so you hardcore game grinders can put that to the test.

By the way, instead of leveling up per floor, you level up with a new experience system. I wasn’t sure what to think about it at first but it works. There are some new monsters and a new monster group as well.

I’m giving you guys a heads up… There are only 5 class types. But there are 2 versions of each class, each having shared skills and a few unique skills. When selecting your party you can only use the 2 if you want to use multiple of a class.

An update. The game was supposed to be released on the 1st of March, but the potential sponsors are fighting over it like a pack of rabid dogs might a single piece of meat… which led him to postpone it until they’re done.

He also went GDC about the same time so we might be waiting another couple of weeks. Good news is, he’s going to squeeze in a little more polishing of the game.

Some things have changed. You’ll all be pleasantly surprised, or possibly never want to play it again… but I’m an optimist.

Topic: General Gaming / Monster's Den 3: Chronicles (MD3 or MDC)

The next Monster’s Den will be Chronicles. It will be out soon. Like, expect it on the net within the next two months or so. Maybe a little bit sooner, maybe a little later. This is my very educated guess based on my following of beta progress on Garin’s site, which is here:
http://www.monstrumgames.com/

There is some existing confusion on the net about the previously announced game Godfall. It turns out he announced it too early and people thought it was close to done… when the reality was he hadn’t started yet. He needed more time to finish the monster his project was becoming so in the end he decided to create Chronicles. To create MDC he took a chunk out of Godfall and is using it as a bridge between the previous games.

Let me clarify more confusion among some of you who knew about this. Godfall is still coming, and MDC is not Godfall. I mean, technically they both come from the same code, but MDC is the tip of the iceburg as far as content goes. This isn’t to say MDC is not a good enough game in it’s own right, trust me when I say it’s awesome.

Topic: General Gaming / New Monsters Den Godfall (3) releases soon

>Read This<
I was reading through this Forum thread and couldn’t help but want to clarify a few things for some. Monster’s Den Godfall is now Monsters Den 4. It has been prosponed for what might be up to a few years.
The 3rd MD game will be Chronicles.
I have inside sources for the Chronicles beta. I’ve been informed that it’ll probably be released in the next couple of months. Maybe somebody should create a new thread for MDC.
I’ve also been informed “quote- unquote” it’ll blow your mind.
That is all.

Topic: General Gaming / New Monsters Den Godfall (3) releases soon

Despite being very well put together and very intricate, the previous monster’s dens have failed to capture my focus. I always lose interest after a few hours for some reason. I guess it’s main problem is that it’s too complicated in some places and not complicated enough in others. I stand by my position that the only thing that could ever beat intricacy is simplicity. Overall very good game, gave it 5 stars myself, but it could be so much better. I hope with Godfall he finds a better balance. I’ve been checking the progress of the game here:
http://monstrumgames.com/category/monsters-den-godfall/
and so far it’s impressive. If it all comes together right, we’ll have to demand that kongregate add a 6th star to rate Godfall with, because it will be far better than just another good game.
