i know this idea has been “discussed 1000 times” already – but I’ll have to ask how it actually turned out.. couldnt find the answer in the main s1-3 forums

i invite all guild leaders who posted a team thread
to do the same on the game forum
a lot of people read it, even without registering,
and posting to the official forum signals a deeper interest in your game

who tagged it idle then? truth is, its a mix of idle and active, one that happens to suit my personal RL well.

p.s. I’m trying really hard to provide a link between this kong forum and the vast world of dedicated zerohero-forums.
pls try and post titles that provide more description rather than “new idea” or “suggestion” thx.

Topic: Hero Zero / Suggestion

It seems like an obvious good idea. thats why its been suggested and discussed about 10-12 times on the main forums already
(and believe me, those are long threads). Many have made good suggestions (as is yours) on how to prevent the danger of pushing, but here was always a loophole (as with yours).

Topic: Hero Zero / Donuts!

lets continue to disagree then. there are plenty of 100% free players (including the lvl leader atm btw) in teams that are fully upgraded.
the team pitched in for the seats, and they’re seemingly having a good time.

the benefits of paying to up your individual account are miniscule and theres nothing you can buy that is restricted to free players.
the opposite is the case with most pay games – period. i dont know why does games do in fact feel a lot “greedier” to me… but it has something to do with the notion of ppl pitching in together for upgrades that matter.

calling it ‘broken’ kinda belies the game’s success.
the game does not “force you to pay in order to advance”, thats simply not the case.
if you’re in a team, where people pitched in together, you will advance more easily than someone in a team that hasnt. true.
as opposed to fighting as a free player against individuals who bought stuff unavailable to or giving them crazy benefits.

its a decision on where to make the game earn money, and this model is simply different than others.
some will like it better, some wont. I’ve been a free player on most games i found, and the nice team i had here
moved me to dump a few kreds – which is plenty if many in a team do it.

the fact that devs come up with new (user requested) content all the time makes their agency seem less “greedy” to me.

I liked the idea of donating team battle won donuts – that would indeed fit the spirit of the game and circumvent the problem of multi-accounts dumping their free donuts.

“For the money they expect you to pay to win you could probably buy several more polished and fairer commercial games” remains 100% true imho.
get hooked on your personal poison or find a different one. :)

Topic: Hero Zero / when u work at lvl 30-60 how much coins do u earn ?

I’d think twice about spendig donuts on a work booster. working will only net you a “better than nothing” profit while away.
25% booster is fine for me. i can think of a dozen ways to squeeze better profit from a nut.

lvl 64, +25% booster +40% from team = 9,510 /24h (should be 5763 without 0% extras)
lvl 140 + 25% booster + 98% from team = 44,767/ 24h (should be 20,074 base)

i earn about the equivalent in 15-20 mins minutes actual gameplay if i really focus on coins, and it buys me maybe 3 or 4 skill points (for an entire day of absence)

I’l quote your suggestion to the official forum. sounds nice. where would they appear?
you could think of themed names right now of course and have everyone show their title on their “my description” box…

Topic: Hero Zero / Inactive Team Leaders

you can contact support if your leader goes missing. they appoint an advisor leader.
has happene before. usually wait is 2 weeks offline, but since this server started fresh
and if he didnt donate any donuts yet, they might do it earlier. state your case to them.

Topic: Hero Zero / Some suggestions

I’ve been to the main forums and saw quite a few suggestions like yours. I think they pretty much settled the payment plans (btw: save your donuts! for boosters, missiles, team upgrades and the ocassional 3rd/4th energy refill if you need!)

good thing is: devs actually do updates every 2 weeks and often react to community ideas. the washer and sewing machine for instance, are 100% community proposed. also the request for making it those gadgets largely donut-free was just picked up by the devs in last update.

though i think, if devs check, they’re more likely to check the in-game forum! so post there…

compared to 99% of all pay-cash-if-you-want games, the system is one of the sanest I’ve seen. sure, there are plenty of totally free games out there, but i feel i get a good deal of fun for my spare cash here. the game has been running on a dozen or more servers in several mostly european countries, millions of players, created jobs for a team of devs that keep it bug free, requent updates etc. I’ve had way worse. Its designed that you find enough friends to play a team, where many pitch in with a few bucks each month and presto— you build your upgrades. not like you HAVE to 50$ 1st week yourself. anyway. i like it. if you dont, play something you like. other people waste money buying bottled water instead of drinking tap or smoking… ifound my poison. i dont expect the payment scheme to change, since its been like this for a long time for many servers. and as isaid, they run bi-weekly updates.

one lesson learned from the recent wb fiasko was the benefit of having a board, where FB players and kong players can chat together.
next step to increase building a community for the game would to implement such an ingame ‘chat’ permanently. you already did most of the programming for it.

i finally spent the time to complete world quest and found swagger ammo to have the bite against carrie i was hoping for.
hitting her for okay damage now with a three molten rains and 3 swagger ammo. doing 150k-250k now on auto, as compared to only 20-40k with myy standard shock layout.

there are part rewards for each leg of th quest. but final reward is swagger ammo recipe, which is more practical for killing carriones than schock ammo.

I’m glad you kept the rage at a minimum, omega. in fact, i think the scaling, where bigger bosses are now tougher, is over all a good thing. just made no sense i was killing insane spiders in a single auto round as before. the tragig thing is
a) the timing during world boss. a lot of players even spent money on holy ammo or other things, that are simply wasted. we poured hundreds and thousands of player-hours into this boss grind fest, just to see all effort (and money) go wasted.
b) the ongoing silence on behalf of the team regarding this issue. we really feel we deserve a response.

carrione, formerly known as Olga jurgen, is a tough cookies to all shock strat players. I kill hell spider 10 or 20 times as fast as olgas, since she is pretty shock resistant. and so it is with most, since she’s the one you see most ppl asking for help with.

whats your most effective weaponry/ammo build to fight her? I’m keen to learn.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Syfy Monster Island] skill tree / build strats

adrenallin / rest order strat
- special strategy for killing tough bosses.
I used to loke this trick, but its grown tedious and less useful to me. still, it teaches you well about the game.
works for all shock strat players

if you’ve ever fought manual, and especially as a shocker, you will know that battles last many rounds.
in order for them not to take forever, something interesting happens around round #50
if you’re still alive then, damage on all sides suddenly explodes tenfold, to end the battle quicker.
so at round 50, you cast rest order stunning your foe for 6 rounds, where its only you dealing the massive damage not him.
1. cast rest order
2. use adrenalin to end cooldowns on active
3/4/5 fire at will
6. cast rest order
7. use adrenalin
…repeat till your out of adrenalin.
so for a minimum of 15 rounds, you deal all the insane damage, while your boss does none. the seconds he comes online though, he’ll kill you (if he’s still alive that is)

negatives: going through 50 rounds on manual is extremely boring. if you picked a boss that was too tough, you die before you reach the bonus rounds, and all was in vain. or you get to the endphase, and suddenly you encounter a game freeze. only useful for those bosses that take many rounds to kill, but not bad enough to kill you before you reach 50.

the most obvious choice at the moment is to build on a variation of MG shockers.
you get all the life extending skills you need from peacekeeper and add shock skills from scientist.
where to go after this basic layout is open to discussion. but if you have 3 mg with shock ammo and some decent hitpoints,
you can do several rounds of attacks while your opponent just stares at you frozen, while you are hitting him and recovering hitpoints.

general observations.
MG has several buffs, while other weapons have only one. so its an obvious choice. plus you increase the chance of triggering your extras.

skills that give you a lot of power for one turn are less interesting, since fights last many turns turns. from everything i tested, staying alive longer is far more valuable than dealing more dame per round.

for the same reason, defensive buffs (enemy damage denial, protection, hit points, heals) are usually preferred over damage increasing skills.

1st a quick overview of available skills, with a few comments thrown in by yours truly. you start with one skill tree, and a second tree unlocks at lvl 20 at the moment (17 august 2012). premium players may skill the other trees as well.

MERCENARY
Passive 1
double tap (pistol) (chance of second shot)
spray&pray (MG) (chance to hit all targets after burst)

Passive 2
Vital shot (chance of extra burst)
Renegade (MG) (increase all MG damage)

Passive 3
Efficiency (increase ammo duration(
Killer Instinct (increase crit chance)

Active:
Supressive Fire (high damage shot)
bombs away (massive mob bomb drop)
________________________________
comments:
i dont know of a strat that relies on pistols, and since you want your skills tie into each other, double tap is out for me.
spray and pray does mob damage and is MG based, but usually, minion mobs are not your main problem. you want to kill bosses better.
renegade seems interesting for MG users, but you have to unlock many other skills to get there.
efficiency, as things stan today (17 august 2012) is not attractive. your coffers will soon burst from ammo you collect in loot.
***********************************
SCIENTIST
Passive 1
Static charge (chance for shock damage)
Trigger Happy (MG) (chance for 4th MG burst)

Passive 2
Conductivity (increase all shock damage)
Gene Therapy (increase chance for rare materials in drop)

Passive 3
Corrosion (increase all acid damage)
Metabobilism (decrease time between harvests)

Active
Melt armor (reduce boss defense)
rainbow tech (barrage of all damage types)
______________________________________
comments:

static charge: likely the most valuable scientist skill.
should probably read “increase shock chance”, since thats what it does
trigger happy ties in well with other MG buffs and increases chance of your
specials to trigger
melt armor is the 2nd most common boss raid buff. i rely on others to cast it though. good if you plan on fighting a lot of the toughest bosses by yourself.
gene therapy seems utterly useless to me atm, since there is nothing worth crafting.
metabolism is another odd and oddly placed skill. by the time you can unlock it,
you have more tiles than you can handle already, and most harvest items are not interesting, since theres not much to craft. i farm my tiles for exp, and stopped when i hit level cap.
*********************************
PEACEKEEPER
“most damage done to monsters on this island, comes from a group calling themselves “peacekeepers” odd. dontcha think?

Passive1
Shred (shotgun) (ongoing damage)
Regeneration (chance of self heal)

Passive2
Heavy Duty (increase defense)
Machine core (increase hit points)

Passive3
Preventive measures (increase all damage output)
Diplomacy (increase chance to charm)

Active
Riot wall (reduces damage by 5%)
Restriaining order (stun all foes for a few rounds)
_______________________________________
comments:
regeneration: likely the most powerful skill. almost a must-have. most players start with this one. stay alive longer, deal more damage.
machine core: the reason why so many have riot wall unlocked. goes together with regen. more health to heal. stay alive longer, do more damage (im gonna sound redundant on that point)
rest order: useful only if you plan on using a adreanline/rest order manual strat often on tough bosses (covered later)

SCOUT
Passive 1
Upper hand (chance for speed boosts)
shatter (chance to reduce damage after attack)

Passive 2
Shifty (increase evasion chance)
hunter (rifle) increase rifle damage

Passive 3
Aim (increase overall accuracy (less misses))
Tactician (reduce cooldown time on active skills)

Actives
Bulls Eye (high damage, high crit shot)
Penetration (completely ignore enemy defense)

comments

speed increase: always good to be 1st in battle order – you are more likely to damage another round, or getting off your charm or shock before boss responds)
shatter. from reading it, seems more powerful even than active skill penetrate, since theres a chance of repeated triggers in a battle
evasion seems nice. evade attacks, stay alive longer, do more damge. think i mentioned that before.
hunter: dont ask me why there are only single buffs for all weapons except for MGs. kinda pointless. everyone will use MGs. hope it stays this way – i love my MGs.
tactician: another pointless skill as far as i can tell. if you want to re-use your skill, visit a minion and use some adrenalin, which is cheap to come by. skill points are precious.
Penetration: dont know of anyone who risked unlocking it. might be nice, but
main problem is it only helps you one round. battles are fought by staying alive many rounds.

theres a stick on top of this forum called “post your boss raids links here”

though its kind of pointless. thats what the ingame raid forum is for now.
