Topic: Heroes of The Banner / Opinions on Best Heroes?

Hey,

So, I was wondering who people thought were the best heroes to keep/lvl up/use in the endgame?

It seems 4* endgamers are basically just those with PD?
Does anyone keep any other 4*s for non-trans purposes?
Which of the 5*s do you prefer to use/take to 6* and which just become trans-fodder?

I don’t have enough heroes yet to really input into this discussion but I feel it would be a helpful discussion to have to help new/mid-tier players, such as myself, work out who to invest in and who to use for fodder.

All thoughts appreciated.

Topic: Heroes of The Banner / Do you have to buy gems?

I’ve been told you get 100 at the end of Week 2 and then 100 each week after. For 200 gems the Mine can be upgraded so it produces a few (no idea how many) as a regular source of income. (You have to do all the gold upgrades first).

Note: This is what I understand from others, haven’t got that far yet so no direct experience of it.

Topic: World War II: TCG / Courageous Division Question

Promoting pretty much “heals” everything with the exception of the “captured” status i.e. can’t attack for one turn, which can’t be removed in any way.

I’m pretty sure it works as intended. Courageous Division is still incredibly useful however, in both missions and PvP. It can remove defensive abilities for long enough for you to kill a unit, it can force the opponent to promote when they’d rather spend points elsewhere, and of course it’s very strong against General units since they cannot promote any further and the effect becomes permanent.

Sure it makes it weaker, but it’s still a very strong card imho.

Except I haven’t.

This has happened twice – the last time I was part way through a medium Iwo mission and was nicely set up. Since it booted me out it counted as a loss and my gold was also gone.

Pretty frustrating as the 180 gold entry fee is nothing to sneeze at for a new player.

Not really sure if this a bug or WAI, but interaction between Kixeye platform and Kong is a bit weird. It’s all one server, but when using Kong it only seems to interact with Friends and Guildies also on Kong. I tried linking to Kixeye via Discuss and registering, but although I get a profile and can add friends and chat on Kixeye, when I hit ‘Play’ it relaunches in Kong and friends from Kixeye don’t appear on my ‘relocate’ option (I’m also told they normally appear below the game, which they don’t do here either).

Since the update I also get constant prompts to post to facebook. Even if I cancel this it re-appears every couple of minutes – sometimes even interrupting battles and wasting my countdown.

I understand a one off prompt to help with your marketing strategy, but if we cancel it, it shouldn’t keep reappearing.

Hi, whilst the events are appreciated could you run the odd thing that isn’t from 18:00 server time please?

Land Rush itself would be better if it took place at different times instead of only 18:00-20:00, but to do the same for Good to Go just punishes players (most Europeans) who struggle to make these times. I don’t know what percentage of your player-base is European, but I’d imagine there’s a fair few.

Topic: BloodRealm / Pack Rarity Distributions

The Premium Pack says there’s a 45% chance of getting a 4 or 5 star card. I’m not certain how many Premiums I’ve opened – just the quest reward ones, but there’s been a few of those. I’ve never got a 4 or 5 star card from them.

Then again I never have any kind of luck at these kind of things, but it certainly made me wonder – both whether the percentages are true, and also whether to continue playing. If the intent was to make me spend money to get more packs it backfired, as I’m now less likely to invest in the game then I was before when I believed the percentages to be accurate.

Edit to the above: – I realise I’ve put ‘must move 1 space’ rule, though I’m not sure if this is actually ‘must move entire movement’. I’ve been meaning to watch another couple of battles to check. Either way I’ve seen chargers run away when they could have engaged (using either interpretation) in the past.

> no. i did not word it badly. it was worded in that fashion because it was meant that way. i consider it far more probable that the pathing was simply done hastily and sloppily, and left untouched for reasons of expediency. the difference here is that you postulate intent. i postulate adjustment after the fact to accommodate sub-optimal programming.

Ah apologies, it’s the use of the word ‘deliberately’ (though I see what you mean by ‘deliberately left’ now) that threw me. Though expediency or no, if that’s so then it seems like something that should be ‘corrected’ still imho.

I agree that developers rarely want to reveal everything. However I disagree that leaving lots to chance in this particular model is good for revenue. Yes, of course when it comes to hero rolling and drawing – and skill activation is all probabilities (though you take those probabilities into account when setting up armies). But I don’t think having units behave erratically causes people to buy more stuff. One of the things that sets this apart from similar games out there is that there is more of an emphasis on strategy amidst the spending, rather than just spending, which I would argue is good for the long-term health and also long-term revenue stream of the game. I see quite a few people coming here from outright P2W games, because they want something more strategic, not just a highest payer wins (and yes many of these people are spenders too).

Now it may well be that there’s some sense behind chargers (either whatever hidden theory you have or something else). I’m just saying from what I’ve seen there are times they avoid combat when this doesn’t seem to be connected to either the ‘must move 1 space’ rule, nor to the player’s AI settings. That level of unreliability I personally don’t believe to be good for the game, however you spin it. Of course others such as yourself are, as always, free to disagree.

Given how much clutter there is in the auction house even with current sort methods, perhaps a sort by equipment level would be helpful? After all if you’re searching for a weapon for your Lvl 20s, having to scroll through Lvl 5 equips is a bit pointless.

The problem is, kaboomba, that none of your ‘explanations’ adequately explain charger or archer behaviour.

The exception being ‘deliberately poorly coded’ – although that’s a bad way of wording it, but I assume you actually mean ‘intentionally coded to select what we consider to be non-optimal targets’.

I actually think it may well be that (and at no point suggested there were any bugs/no system myself – in fact only the OP suggests this so I don’t know why you just lambasted everyone for repeating this assertion).

However I think the charger coding, deliberate or not, leads to far too much (seemingly) random behaviour to be good for the strategy element of the game. The archer coding I find less problematic, as I don’t recall ever seeing them just refuse to shoot. Chargers very often don’t attack at all even when a target is available, never mind failing to charge the available caster/ranger in favour of a defender etc.

In fact further to the above I’m seeing chargers who are one space from a caster (as in they could move 1 then attack the caster) instead turn around and move backwards and attack no-one? Surely that can’t be right under any system?

It’s not just archers, it’s everything. So many times now I’ve seen Chargers reach an enemy archer/caster then run away instead of attacking it because of the ‘must always move one space’ rule. At least with archers most of the time they’ll actually fire at something.

@ Atalan whilst PoL is nice and I appreciate it a lot, during a PoL it’s still perfectly possible to draw rubbish. (Unless I’m misunderstanding PoL in which case feel free to correct me)

I’m NOT talking about an increase in drop-rates.
I’m talking about a DECREASE in variation between player ‘luck’.

You would add the modifier each time you failed to draw a T4 and compensate by lowering the initial T4 drop chance from what it is now.

So before
Joe ‘Lucky’ Bloggs gets 3 T4 out of X draws
Peggy ‘Jinxed’ Sue gets 0 T4 out of X draws

After altering the system
Joe ‘Lucky’ Bloggs gets 2 T4 out of X draws
Peggy ‘Jinxed’ Sue gets 1 T4 out of X draws.

Overall there are still 3 dropping server wide per 2X draws in both situations.

This would decrease the impact of getting lucky/unlucky with heroes at higher levels, causing players to stick with the game longer and I actually believe a lot of people would be more likely to put money into the game if they knew that eventually they’d draw that T4 as opposed to now where you’re more likely to just give up, knowing that money is just a waste if your luck is bad.
