It is very possible to get 60 sprockets without becoming NG at all.All the missions give you sprockets and there are 30 missions.And there are a lot of quests (more than 60).

In real life the steam powered jet pack would probably be gasoline powered or electronically powered and they would use bullets for shooting at mimics.Sorry but I am just thinking what would happen in real life.
