Codex entries need to have useful information as well as flavor text, for instance when you upgrade your barracks to gain a new unit, you need to be able to see the leveling path for those units (Rivet level 3, gain +150 health (250) and +3 attack (15), etc)… so we can better choose how to focus our resources.
Defense needs to be rethought, considering most of the time it’s over before you can figure out what’s going on, especially on the conquest map. Perhaps a 10 second timer before the fight starts to get involved, or have the shield pop up on any screen and take you to the battle.
Further, defense should involve the local militia (only if a hero comes to take charge), giving purpose to leveling up the barracks in conquest zones. Right now, the idea that I can attack with troops from a conquest zone is ludicrous, since I have very few attacks available, and generally more than enough troops of my own. Being able to use the local troops (and only the local troops) when my hero defends might prompt me to developing troop strength in key areas. Only being able to use them while I’m online prevents this from being too overpowered, but leads into the next suggestions…
Towers are terribly unbalanced across levels. Early towers are pathetically easy, but by level four or five they become ridiculously strong while troops seemed to gain strength at a much weaker pace. If I could sandbox, I’d bet that equal troop levels vs. tower levels would favor the towers every time.
