Upcoming Flash Games
Thats sad, but I suppose thats because its still in beta. Maybe you can find a solution for the problem in the official forums? Or have you tried switching the browser or server? (For me it works perfect with Win7,Firefox and the EU Server 1)
Whats left to say is … damn, because I can’t stop playing this stupid game. I think I like this game even more than Torchlight.

Unscrupulous developers
Most developers post a link at their facebook/twitter/homepage when they release a new game, that says “everyone should vote 5 stars” etc. So basically this is exactly the same as what you mentioned there. I see no chance and point in making this “illegal”.
By the way, I looked at the games at your posted screenshot. I only can see one game of it in the top rated section. All the others have a rather low score. So it seems that there even isn’t a game that “was artificially raised” because of this “special site”.

New Game Downraters?
I’m sure that it is the same case as I mentioned some weeks ago here.
I’m also sure, that there were at least “two waves” of downratings. The first one brought the game to 3.00, then it went up to ~ 3.57 and now it goes down every couple minutes.
I think Diamond Hollow II is an awesome game and deserves at least a rating of 4,00. Time will get the rating higher again, but nevertheless it is ridiculous that this happens so often nowadays.
By the way it has more than 300 votes. So it takes a lot of 1/5s to bring it from 3.57 to now 3.38.

Strange game ratings this week
It’s sad that it is happening so often in the last weeks. Flagstaff was the only title I mentioned, who wasn’t influended by the strange ratings I think. But you see how other titles (Battlestance, Battle Beavers) went up from a very low rating. I think you can count this somehow as a proof.
“Top titles” will get normally their “real score” after some time (front pages helps a lot), but games that would get regular a rating about 3.50 will have big problems to reach their real score again.

Normally I would totally agree with you. But I was on the gamepage when the downrating started. I really don’t think that it is normal, that everytime when you refresh the page (maybe every 20 seconds) the vote goes down 0,03 or 0,05. And this from above 4 to 2,78 (this needs many 1/5s in a row)

Strange game ratings this week
…and the next one. I can’t believe how many people can vote a game with 1/5 in ten minutes, so that it goes from above 4,00 to now 2,73. Granny Strikes Back
The sad thing is that this game is even sponsored by Kongregate. I’m now sure that a group (maybe also just 1 person) is hardly manipulating the votes.
I didn’t posted it here, but the same thing also happened to Battle Beavers from Rob Almighty. The votes were at some point under 2,9 and it really took a while till the ratings went up again (now is 3,90).
I think Kongregate has to find a solution for this problem, maybe really change the rating system (Newgrounds?). When a game is rated down quickly it will not have the chance to go to front page, and that means no plays, badges etc

Okay, I’m sorry to come up with this again: I think the same thing I described lately is happening right now again. Now it’s the game Rizzoli and Isles – The Masterpiece Murders
The game had a rating above 3,90 this morning. Now it is going down every second (with so many votes as if it was on front page). In 10 minutes from 3,72 to 3,61. I don’t want to show up with conspiracy theories or something, I also know that the taste in games can separate, but this very fast down rating (and the suddenly appearing high rated negative comments) let me doubt that the votes are regular.

It was published at Armor Games already. I just wrote it to show that the game is finished. Kong release will hopefully follow in some months (or sooner?) as this game is really awesome.
(I think it got the best rating ever at Armor Games).

Strange game ratings this week
I have to say, that I somehow can’t understand the very low ratings for some games this week.
For example it’s very strange that a game like Battle Stance – Human Campaign only gets a rating from 3.1/5, while there are only very positive comments (except one from a level 1 user). I don’t know if I lost my sense for a good game, but I really thought this game could be a candidate for badges (it got 7.8/10 at Armor Games).
The next game is SHMUP which I think normally would get around 3,5/5 and is now at 2,88/5. It got 4.18/5 at Newgrounds, which I think is maybe a bit too high.
Also Flagstaff: Chapter Four which might be the weakest release of the series (I don’t know?), but it only got 3,35/5 while all previous parts were very high rated. Nevertheless this is the rating I can maybe understand, because here we have also many “negative” comments.
As soon as these games appeared at the weekly top games they got downrated.
So maybe it’s just contingency and those games really aren’t that great, but I really hope that there is noone who wants to support his favourite game of the week by voting all other games down (maybe with a router and multiple accounts).
Let me know, if you think that I’m totally wrong and these votings are “normal”.

Added a new trailer for the upcoming game from Channel 4 / Preloaded (makers of 1066 etc). Some games have been released in the meantime (sadly none at Kong yet).
You can still play the beta of Kingdom Rush (Homepage). I can highly recommend this game to everyone, it’s awesome, fantastic, beautiful, “put similiar word in here”…
