Topic: Collaborations / Starting Up a Company

Yeah…I think you’re over-thinking things a bit. If you start really making money of your games, then you’ll want to think about that. But right now the main thing to worry about is making games and learning by experience. Build yourself up so that you can make a good, high quality game. Out of curiosity, what kind of games are you looking into making? Do you have any experience making games yet or is this something you’re just now getting into?

Topic: The Arts / Great synth deal!

I’ll admit that this is nowhere near the quality of a good sample library…but for someone just starting out it could be a good thing. And no Pete, this isn’t what I use. I primarily use Garritan Personal Orchestra.

I would be very interested in writing music for your rpg. Take a look at my portfolio. www.bryanddavis.com/music

If you’re looking for a new synth to add to your library I’ve found an amazing deal. Sonik Synth 2, normally $230, is on sale for $30. Anyone on a budget should consider dropping a few bucks for this!

Topic: Collaborations / Need a programmer and musician!

Alright…I’m confused. I went to the link and it appeared as if I had to sign up for an account. So I did, but the link just takes me to my account homepage. I don’t see a place to download.

I would be happy to provide music and sounds for your game but, as the others said, samples would be very helpful. At the very least, what kind of feel will this game have? Anyway, check out my website for samples of my work – www.bryanddavis.com. Also, here’s something I’ve been working on for a game in progress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI7Z0v_2cFQ

My advice is simply this: the more original something is the more satisfaction you can get out of it. Also, the more you can do with it. While the game may be based on / inspired by Twisted Metal, make it your own. Add those subtle differences that makes it a little different. With enough differences you get less of the “look…a Twisted Metal knockoff” and more of the “cool game!”

As far as music is concerned, there’s tons of composers here on Kongregate (including me!!!) who would love to hop onto a project. Don’t underestimate the effect original music can have on a game. Give us Kong. composers a chance =)

Topic: Collaborations / Another composer post that you won't look at.

I couldn’t agree with you more Ordanze! I’m currently working on getting into a very competitive media music program at my university. This program specializes in writing music for film, tv, games, anything in the media. There were 80 people who applied and auditioned and they only had 7 slots available. Sadly, I fell short of the mark. I was told that I was almost chosen, but my portfolio needed strengthening. So, that’s why I’m here, to find projects that will help me build my portfolio. And also, let me add that you’d have to be crazy to be a composer. Hours upon hours of work for a short piece of music. But is it worth it to said composer? Every single second! I love my work, its my passion.

That’s true Curious, but the way I see it is Kongregate is a small community of people working together to improve their talents. There are tons of people out there making games and learning how as they go, it’s the same for composers. I’m here looking to build my portfolio so I can eventually get paying positions, but right now I’m not looking for any payment for my work. Besides, there’s something to be said about a game that has music that was made specifically for it.

I liked the “Another composer post” tile XD. Yeah…I’ve noticed these forums are a little saturated with composers at the moment. But hey…I like to see what other composers are doing. It gives me inspiration for my own music. So thanks for sharing!

Oh…and I looked at your post….so HA…you’re wrong!

That’s sad that you’ve lost your work. Did you loose everything? If you have any samples or demos you should post it…I’d love to hear it.

Topic: Collaborations / Modeling + Game Music

I begin by writing the score in Sibelius and then exporting it via midi to Logic to finish it up. I use the Garritan Personal Orchestra sample library for my orchestral sounds and then the Logic stock sounds for other things. If I can help you out with game music let me know…I’m looking for a project at the moment.

Topic: Collaborations / List of Available Talent

Hey everyone!
I’d just like to throw myself out there for anyone looking for a music. I do mostly orchestral work but can branch off into other areas as well. Currently I’m working on a 16-bit piece for a project. For a sample of my work look on my profile or go to my website at www.bryanddavis.com. Send me a whisper if I can be of service!

Topic: Collaborations / [Music] [Rev/Free] If you need some really good orchestration!

I am loving this music! I’ve recently started working on music myself. I started composing traditionally with pencil and staff paper and have only in the last year started doing more digitally. Listening to your demo reel has really given me some inspiration!
