As whade said, Limited is a good idea. In any arena other than Beginner, though, you will eventually reach an equilibrium and lose a roughly equal amount of battles until you improve your deck.

Guild wars are surprisingly lucrative now, too, because you don’t need to wait for your opponent and you don’t need to wait to find an opponent. Battles can be over within a minute, quite comfortably.

I agree, it’s pretty frequent in Beginner.

And where is the sense? You wanna make him draw to death?

Effectively works as a ‘discard a random card’ spell if they have 4 cards in their hand, plus you get to draw a card.

I never had a problem with this game and only ever bought my first booster packs after completing the normal campaign. You get enough rewards from each level to get through comfortably.

Beginner is very easy if you don’t want to do proper PvP, simply because you are smarter than an AI. You can get a booster a day using this, and that’s not counting the ludicrously generous daily rewards.

I actually started PvP relatively late because I know I don’t deal well with being repeatedly defeated, and it was still relatively fast to get a decent enough deck together.

Fairy Wards + Creature that wards adjacent creatures is more than enough to help against Arcanos, or Uunys for that matter. You pay extra mana but your own hero should have at least some advantages to cancel that out.

Topic: Tyrant / What a legendary commander would look like ?

Rally 2, I think, would be significantly more powerful than Rally 1 (Aiko’s ability). That’s rally any 2, not racial.

Or it could be Heal 3, perhaps.

Potentially it could be a commander with a drawback to overcome, but a powerful ability – strike 2 but weakens one of your own cards by 2, as an example.

Topic: Tyrant / anyone else will miss the defence first system

I’ll miss it too. This game felt much more like a game for a good while. I’ll probably tone my activity down now, if anything – counter-productive, I know, but I don’t particularly like the idea that someone can defeat my faction by mindlessly pushing buttons, rather than by actually y’know, being better at deck construction, and that turns me off the game to an extent.

1. i use the same deck for offence and defense

3. i played myself in arena (same deck) roughly a dozen times and won them all

conclusion: Brain is worth more than first turn advantage

a fact that Mr theorycrafter strenuously denies while still trying to maintain a ‘pro’ imange. dude you can act like your the shit while whining like a little girl about how def first ruined ‘your fun’

Man, I disagree with Kholai to an extent, but you’re really hurting the argument you’re making by acting the way that you are, while he’s making intelligent and articulate posts. I don’t get the impression that he’s trying to look ‘pro’, personally, but I usually assume good faith. It helps me not go insane with rage on the internet.

I agree that theorycraft is pretty useless.

I also think that seemingly spammy def decks can do well on offence as well, because of the subtle differences between many cards which fulfill functions that are similar enough that they will still exploit the same weaknesses in an unprepared offence deck.

Or from the other point of view, seemingly vastly different cards like Daemon and Azure Reaper can fulfill the same role in defence, as both cards deal heavy direct damage for 3 wait and good surv, take out fliers and control the enemies’ use of abilities. However, you wouldn’t play a Reaper opposite a Daemon. This is a very simple example but I hope my point is clear.

My current def deck is very different from my current off deck, however, because I want to absolutely maximise the advantage I get from being able to think – hence an offence deck with a wide range of cards and some appropriate action cards, a defence deck with mindlessly brutal cards that cause massive problems as soon as any one of them activates.

I recognise this isn’t the only way to do things, as you have clearly made a deck that works very well on both off and def (26/7 is awesome, my best was 27/10 and that was when def decks were still trying to ride on pure rush), but it is an easy and intuitive way to go about deck-building, and for most people will be the only option.

They haven’t really been around long enough to be rated, but both Cultivator and Warped Infiltrator look better than their rarity would suggest.

I think Cultivator especially looks as though it could make a good wild-card addition to defence decks designed to counter strike on offence.

I’m not going to rush to use either of them, though.

Topic: Tyrant / I NEED ENCLAVE FLAGSHIP HELP!!!!

I’d like to point out that if you happen to have 2x Maximum Damage (yeah, this isn’t necessary at all), you can pack them in a heavy Daemon deck in order to take out a Reaper in its first turn. Ups the winrate, I think. It’s difficult to tell tbh. Don’t spend WB on them if you don’t have them, but if you pulled them from a Nexus pack then consider using them here.

The issue with using 2x Max Damage is that you then face a tough choice:

do you include healing, and risk getting a first hand with healers + action cards only (an early healer such as Xolans, Aegis, Poseidon or Hatchlings will sometimes simply allow the enemies’ Daemons, Dom Hatchlings and Reapers to activate, which sometimes loses you the game)?

or do you simply go with Daemon spam and hope that they don’t get Jammed at an inopportune moment, or struck from existence by early enemy structures?

I go with the first, but yeah. Like I said, I think that it improves win-rate to include Max Damage, but I am not certain by any means.

I coincide with predator being a very good card, not best that rifter in my opinion. I didn´t considerate only because i didnt have the luck of getting it, but in the moment i get it, it would certainly go directly to the deck.

And i know there are a lot of better cards, but does anyone else endeared with the gravity tank (fast, protected and a gurantee against flyers – excelent for premature damage), and the Enclave Champion (i really like this one !)? this two accompany since almost the beginning of the game…

P.S.:forgive if my english hasn´t the best grammar or coherence, but i´m spanish-talking and this is a good way to practise the language.

Poison + Strike are very good together, as well. Come up against something with evade, and you can poison them, come up against something without and, well, it’s dead. Generalisation, of course, but I think it’s a very strong combination indeed.

Topic: Tyrant / Auto Farm Deck, Mission 89...

Dalia is not a good substitute for Eva. It might work O.K. in terms of, say, reducing a hatchet’s attack right down thus potentially preserving your II, but that is a different function, and I suspect different cards (ones with more survivability than II have, also more anti-air capabilities, maybe hatchets? I’m not sure) would do better with her as leader.

The point of Eva is to keep your first cards healed up from the Enfeeble/Strike combo, stopping you from losing your first II to a 50% shot that occurs in every battle. Dalia will not do the same job, although she might do a different job quite well.

Unrelated note:

Putting a Tiamat in the deck couldn’t hurt, right?

I use Dracorex with armored units: 2 Aegis, 2 Hydras, Pyro Rig, Toxic Cannon, Howitzer, Anvil, Obsidian, Fortifier. This gives me 95% wins. As a rule of thumb, play Aegis as soon as possible. If Aegis is not available, play high HP cards (Pyro Rig, howitzer, Fortifier) and drop Aegis as fast as it appears.
When Aegis is 1 turn from activation, drop Hydra as well.

I believe all-raider armored deck with Yurich would work as well.
If you need to use uniques somewhere else, replace them with more Pyro Rigs / Toxic Cannons.

Yeah, he doesn’t have Yurich or Dracorex, so I suggested Dalia. I’m not convinced it’d work, but might be worth a shot.

Tartarus Swarm Deck
Atlas
4x Irradiated Infantry
2x EMP
1x Stealthy Niaq
1x Tiamat
1x Predator
1x Blight Golem
Play anything with 1 delay first and use emp to prevent splitting. Also I have experimented with adding in omega for its siege against blight tower which is a huge problem but i find blight golem can usually kill the commander before blight tower can wreck me.
Replacements – EMP can be replaced for an air strike or a strike all 1 or plague Tiamat, predator can be replaced by irradiated infantry but it will decrease your win percent. Blight golem can be replaced by merciless invader

Enclave Mothership Deck
Dalia
2x Aegis
4x Valkyrie (3-5)
3x Daemon (2-4)
1x Merciless Invader
Daemon first and second if possible followed by either valkyrie if you haven’t taken damage if your units are damaged play aegis. Also play all aegis as soon as possible if the battle station is played preferably before. I have experimented with Jet fighter in place of a daemon and gotten mixed results. You can use anywhere between 3-5 valkries and 2-4 daemons depending on what you have.
Replacements – Aegis can be replaced with Poseidon and daemon can be replaced by jet fighter, remote analyzer or xeno interceptor with only a slight disadvantage I would recommend remote analyzer if you have the ability to buy it and the cash also orca but this will dramatically drop your win percentage if battle station gets played early. Do not replace merciless invader with blight golem because battle station can 1 hit it

Xeno Walker
Vyander
3 daemon
2 hatchling
2 champion
1 Xeno interceptor
1 Stealthy Niaq
1 EMP
Can basically play anything first but i would recommend hatchling then daemon to reduce the chance of getting fucked up by Jam.

I haven’t found a real 95% deck for Imp purger or siege on kor yet but I’ll post when I find one
Here is a theoretical 95% deck that I’m testing right now for Imp purger
Dalia
2 aegis
2 Bolide Walkers
1 Havoc
1 titan
1 sabre (as many as you have)
1 Poseidon
1 Fortifier
1 Mend Wounds
Feel free to test right now I’am 7 of 8 (lost because of tactical infiltrator across from my aegis on the first turn) – Play aegis/Poseidon as a second choice Bolide walkers/titan. Also Cluster balista might be useful if you get get behind.

Also I have a question I can’t find a good deck for Oluth even my active deck which is xeno slow roll seems to get fucked up way to much. Any one got any advice I’ve checked war metal wiki and can’t do any of those because I dont have some of the card in that deck or Dracorex or Yurich. Plz help

Dracorex is useful but the key is a nice mix of poison, crush, weaken, armour and a couple of fliers. Dalia might sub OK for Draco, I’m not sure how well but she shouldn’t be terrible.

Hydra are very useful, both for sieging blood pools and other structures and for taking out the occasional draco queens, while the armour 2 is helpful. Don’t drop them first, or the strike has a chance of taking them out. Ideally drop them after some Aegis.

Anvil is another handy one. The Crush 3 means that regen is completely obviated.

Mawcor is a nice card to drop late, after at least one Aegis is down. With Dalia he might even work well as a first drop, tho I wouldn’t bank on it.

Stealthy Niaq or Rifter can be nice early on, Evade and Flying respectively mean that they have a decent chance to dodge a few blows anyway, while poison is always good against regeneration. Jam and Strike All 1 are just icing.

Venomous Raptor is another one to consider – nice high HP to soak up strike, and poison.

…what else…

oh, I think Nimbus might be good if you have room. Not really necessary if you have Draco, might be essential if you don’t. Pyro Rig is really good.

Hatchet is pretty meh filler but in a pinch it does alright.

No. If it takes more than 3 seconds to read then no.

Defensive decks go first. End of 3 seconds.

So the question is, if the best defense decks still lose about 70-80% of the time versus competent offense decks ON AUTO, how is this a good idea at all?

You are in essence just flipping it around, where defense now becomes offense and the person attacking becomes the defender.

Except that the person attacking still has full control over when and how they play their cards.

This doesn’t just mean an improvement of 10-20% in win-rates over the A.I. (giving around a 30-40% win-rate from your numbers of “70-80% of the time”) that you get from assuming control over your offence decks, because if a human was in control of defence decks they would in fact have an advantage of sorts – they can see what the other player used first turn, and directly counter it. This means that even a rush defence deck going first with a structure or the only 2-wait card that they threw in is much more vulnerable to having control over the board being taken from it than a rush offence deck going first.

An offence deck going second can also run Rally Flags/Command Centres and Impulse Walkers, waiting for the right time to lay the appropriate cards instead of being a slave to the draw order. It can generally use 0-wait cards more effectively.

I think in addition to this that one of the many limiting factors for the kinds of defence decks you can build is the stupidity of the A.I., which offence decks do not have to contend with. A player-controlled deck going second with a couple of Maximum Damages, for instance, is feasible – it is not feasible to have those cards in a defence deck going second.

This change would also ruin any strike removal defence deck, and also make it pretty painful to have a def deck with any airstrikes/plagues/EMPs in it – with just one your chances of winning have dropped dramatically. This would mean that the range of offence decks you could use would increase dramatically, too. Suddenly you don’t need to have a couple of high health (6+) units just to counter the threat of Atlas + Airstrike/Plague decks, as those decks will run out of cards one turn before you do anyway. Rush decks can become rushier.

The main problem I see with the “def goes first” idea is – does that mean offence decks ‘win’ in the event of a tie?
