Stop. I conclusively proved that BW and TASW easily made back any fp they lost due to conquest on the last map. This argument is invalid and wrong and should just flat out stop being used. I really am not trying to single you out SD, but I took the time to prove that the “massive” fp losses were made back and then some with relative ease.

You didn’t prove anything — your math was really off. I just didn’t think it was worth discussing with you, because you were trolling, not having a productive conversation.

What is a “day” for purposes of faction war wins? The prior 24 hours prior to claiming the tokens?

The reason I ask is that we have four wins in the past 24 hours, but it still only shows us as having 1 “recent win” for token purposes.

First of all, conquest is still in the game and will continue to be. People will conquest for fun, just as factions were fighting for FP in faction war even though the rewards were meaningless.

Secondly, we got a lot of use out of those diodes and transistors. I don’t expect a refund for my gold diodes/transistors any more than I expect a refund for spending WB on Dracorex or Sycos back in the day.

There are many people in my faction who love conquest. I’m one of them.

Overall, though, I think the number of players who prefer conquest is pretty small. It’s a strong, vocal minority … and the new changes are going to cater to the few factions, like mine, who are active all the time and could conquest six times a day.

If you like to conquest, keep doing it. There are rewards in the form of tokens, and if some factions opt out, that will make it easier to conquest. I have the feeling that this rule change will shake up alliances and make conquest more fluid and active. Because top factions are already getting tokens elsewhere, maybe they’ll focus more on just conquesting for fun and will take more risks.

I do think this change is the best thing for the game as a whole. It’s not good for factions that were 100% focused on conquest, but it’s the right thing for the overall playerbase. Tyrant needs to be more friendly to casual players.

For a while, I’ve been worried about the state of the game. Too many long-time players are burnt out and leaving and factions are disbanding or merging. It felt like the game was dying.

I enjoy conquest, and my faction benefitted a lot from it. But in its present form, it was way too time-consuming and became more frustrating than fun. The latest rules changes catered to the hardcore and were going to turn off casual players even more. I was worried that Tyrant was going to lose even more players.

Thank you Devs, for listening to Hoschisack and others, and giving players a choice between conquest or faction wars. And thank you Hoschi, for standing up for the good of the game. We don’t always agree on everything, but I think the work you did on this issue may have saved Tyrant.

Tyrant has become a much more hardcore game, with the inclusion of conquest.

You can run your full bar of stamina in faction wars solo in less than 20 minutes, as long as you log in within the six-hour period.

Conquest requires you to scout decks, coordinate with others, etc. And as hoschi pointed out in a recent thread, top factions are pretty much forced to participate in conquest by the rewards system.

I think conquest is contributing to the burnout in the game. People are leaving the game at a really fast pace right now, and I’m concerned the game is dying. As I’ve said in other threads, while I enjoy conquest and it has really benefitted my faction, I think it’s hurting the game right now and should be removed.

I agree that this set of changes caters to hardcore gamers. It’s understandable — most of us active posters are hardcore, and the members of the consortium pushing for conquest changes are hardcore.

But I do think it is bad for the game overall. Tyrant is a simple flash game, and the game’s user base grew most when it was a simpler and more casual experience. In general, conquest has already made the game much more hardcore … and with the upcoming changes, it’s becoming even more time-consuming. I think the burnout and disbandings we’re seeing lately are due partially to how hardcore the game has become, and I’m not looking forward to more people leaving.

I’m starting to think the best thing for Tyrant, as a game, would be for conquest to be removed entirely. Obviously that would be bad for my faction, and I personally enjoyed conquest. Also, I understand that the Devs put hours into creating conquest. But at this point, conquest is hurting the game overall in its present form.

If you make it so you can only abandon 1 tile per day, factions with 30-31 tiles essentially are limited to one attack per day.

Is that really a solution to what you call stagnation? It sounds to me like you’re making it even harder for factions to legitimately attack anyone. Once you’re at 31 tiles, once you’ve abandoned once for the day, all you can do with your other 5 attacks for the day is swap attacks with your neighbors to exploit the 10-attack immunity.

Actually, Silver Edge is still the stronger of the two (assuming you’re not up against Chaos). They’d probably work well in conjunction to each other.

While Edge is faster, it is really brittle. Personally I think that Cyclops is a stronger card, despite being a 3-wait — the Evade and Stun give it some survivability. But reasonable minds can differ on that.

It’s pretty crazy that Cyclops (rare, not unique) is better than Silver Edge, which is a legendary from the Terminus set. Just a few months ago, Terminus was the newest set available.

While these changes are slightly better than the last proposal, they’re still going to be a disaster.

The “immunity after you’re attacked 10 times/day” rule will result in attack-swapping so all the swappers are immune from attack all day. It is trivial to make your faction immune from all attack, using this rule. Just have two weak/alt factions with one tile each in the middle of your territory, surrounded by your tiles. They can each attack you 5x/day and you can’t be attacked by anyone else.

I saw that Hoschi said the same thing, and your response is that if people exploit, you will fix it. Why go through a reset and impliment a rule that is trivial to exploit? Everyone will exploit it, and we’ll need another reset to fix that problem.

Ugh, really? You are throwing the baby out with the bath water. If Faction Wars are negatively impacted, fix Faction Wars. 500 Stam would make the legit versus bot/sharers problem better.

Well, 500 stam would have made the use of alts/mercs even more advantageous. They really need to make it so when you join a faction, your Stamina resets to 0.
