Topic: Technical Support / W8-Ben form is not a legal requirement

I noticed you are still asking UK residents to fill in your W8-Ben form. Under our countries international trade agreements, I am not legally liable to fill in any such form. This form needs to be filled in by yourselves. Your accountant should add my name to the form and fill in the appropriate parts when returning your tax declaration.
Payment for services should be made to me promptly without asking me or residents of my country to fill in such a form (Note: a highly bureaucratic and confusing form, at that).

p.s. I know nothing about this for other countries. In case anyone else is interested. I just know that UK residents are not required to and should not fill it in.

Reason why I know all this: I have had this form so many times that I am a little sick that your tax agencies don’t inform US Accountants and residents of this. I have phoned up your tax offices in the USA and they agree that I should not be asked to fill this form in, we have trade agreements that mean I am not liable to fill it in and it’s meant for the accountant or tax returnee to fill it in.

Please arrange payment of my monies that are now owed, (they are a year overdue), when you have resolved this matter. I await your investigation and response. Thanks

Topic: Kongregate / Not very Christmasy Kongregate

I know it sounds biased, when I have just launched a Christmas game on here, but why isn’t Kongregate showing any festive spirit?
Showcase a few recent Xmas games on the front page.
Here’s one to add to a list of featured games (cheeky smile):

Topic: Collaborations / Box 2D programmer needed - Snowboard game - $ = 50/50

This game is similar to what you require and can be modified easily, it’s also made using a box 2d:
http://www.letsdesign.co.uk/dev/x/index.html
You can purchase the source code, as long as you modify all the graphics.
I realise you starting out but no doubt you will get $3k for a good snowbaording game built on this engine.
I’ll sell you the source code for = $1000. Which is very reasonable and I will allow you to use it for 2 new games that you wish to make.

If interested then please contact me using the details found here, as I don’t often have time to check forums and PM’s:

Thanks and I look forward to your reply,

Topic: Technical Support / Please delete this game, Having no look when contacting you

I have, emailed 2 email accounts and used the contact form. Surely, this should be enough to get it deleted.
How long should this process take?

I keep hearing people mention this bad links reason.
It’s our content that they use to make money, if we wish to delete it due to client demands or reasons of our own, we should be able to, no questions asked. It is our copyright.

p.s. maybe having a delete option would be useful for when you launch out of BETA.

I have used your contact form and emailed you to delete this game:
http://www.kongregate.com/games/LetsDesign/x-stunt-bike

I have not heard back or seen it delete. How long does it usually take?

Please delete ASAP so we can redevelop and not allow this on the net, no more.

Thanks in advance,

Having said that, they seem to take their time, having used both methods of contact.

How do you delete a game that is published on Kongregate?

That is obviously owned by you.

Topic: Kongregate Labs / Suggestion: AS3

thanks for stealing my thread.. I was hoping someone from Kong would comment on why this is all in AS2?

Topic: Kongregate Labs / Suggestion: AS3

mmm, it’s debatable as to if it’s easier or not, it’s more robust and cleaner to program in AS3.
As this is a new section to Kongregate you think they would have got it up to date, to begin with. < that basically sums, it up, in a nutshell. Be it a little bluntly.

Topic: Kongregate Labs / Suggestion: AS3

No, I would like the actual tutorials to be in AS3, they specify that the user set it as AS2 for CS3 and then continue to show programming in AS2. This is why I am puzzled as to why they have done this. It’s really good work and just needs to be in AS3, no beginner wants to learn an out of date product.

Topic: Kongregate Labs / Suggestion: AS3

oh that is good. hopefully they will convert the current ones to AS3 code, when I witnessed the comment that ‘I dont think more tutorials are going to happen’ I thought it would be silly to not continue to develop this section. It’s been getting good press over here, it was in last months .net magazine.
So surely it would make sense to keep developing it.

But a major thing in my book is to get those .swf based tutorials in AS3 so there is both languages available.

Topic: Kongregate Labs / Suggestion: AS3

That is a real shame. Mainly because;
- The tutorials tell people to download the trail version of CS3, something they don’t really need to invest in if they are just using AS2. It should be changed to tell them that they just have to buy flash 8 from ebay,
- if your telling people to download CS3 then maybe it would be worthwhile telling them to get CS4.
- your showing people very old code that soon wont be supported by extra plug ins.

All in all, I love this section of the site, I think it’s a fantastic idea, but needs the ‘actual tutorials’ remaking in as3 for it to be of any worth, to anyone starting out in game programming.

It would be nice to have the tutorials written in AS3?

Topic: Serious Discussion / Ratings under judgement? Whats the point?

Phoenix, I agree it has good intentions, but leaving a game over a week is just wrong.
It needs to automatically display on 50 ratings. IMHO
< that is my 2 penneth and I will leave it at that.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Ratings under judgement? Whats the point?

However, back on track, the new system is useless.
As I have seen some games that were put on the site on the 26th July and that have still not got a rating, does this mean they are crap? No, it might mean they have a crap thumbnail and thus haven’t received enough reviews. However, we are still yet to know their score and if they are worth playing. I think waiting a week for a game stars to show up is a seriously flawed system. All because a few minor people over rate their own games.

This could be solved with 30 max and then the rating shows, but currently it’s just stifling progress and the sense of community.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Ratings under judgement? Whats the point?

Ahh, that makes some sense, but it kind of puts people off rating in the first place. I think an element of trust needs to be re-introduced.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Ratings under judgement? Whats the point?

I have just uploaded a new game and people are rating it. However the stars don’t show up. It says ‘ratings under judgement’.
What is the point?
Surely the community can be trusted to rate correctly?

Topic: Serious Discussion / What would you do in the event of a nuclear war?

I’d go to Iraq where we all know for definite (NOW) that there are no nukes and thus no one would bother bombing that country.

Topic: Technical Support / My scores and your scores?

someone whispered that it’s confusing mochileaderboard with the kongregate scores api?

How come Kongregate and mochi (who are pretty well connected) havent fixed this?
And why are the scores wrong? for Kongregate.

Topic: Technical Support / My scores and your scores?

I added this game to your site: http://www.kongregate.com/games/LetsDesign/colo… I added mochiscores to it. However, I never added the Kongregate score system to the game, yet it shows ‘you got a high score’. Moreover, the score on your system is wrong?

Can someone explain what is going on??

Thanks in advance.
