Topic: Serious Discussion / Gun Issues

My science teacher gave us an overview of how the design of bullets evolved to the present day. The ammunition evolved to be more than just just injury, the bullets evolved into weapons of sheer destruction. For example, hunting rifles tend to have ammunition that pierces the target while assault rifles have some type of bullet with jagged edges or slit tips that break apart upon contact. So he proposed the question, “why do people argue about the guns when the bullets are equally dangerous?” That being said, ammunition should be put into question. A gun is essentially nothing without the bullets.

I agree with him really. The access to more dangerous ammunition increases the lethality of the weapon itself. No matter if its a hand gun or a SMG. In all

Well anyone who does not understand your actions would not understand what you stand for or your pains, which I believe symbolizes silence and words probably representing your behavior or motives. Its Kinda implying some sort of empathic relationship is needed to fully understand a person.

Another interpretation is that if one is so secluded from social interactions one becomes a hermit, or worse a troglodyte and it would make it difficult to connect with another.

Topic: Serious Discussion / How flawed is the grading system in schools?

I appreciate your input. I may have made the topic a bit broader than is necessary. This is not entirely bad as I was at least able to at least acquire more perspectives than I originally had.

What would be an effective way to educate students nowadays or is the current system sufficient?

Topic: Serious Discussion / How flawed is the grading system in schools?

Story time!
My english teacher had an open forum one day and she allowed the students to discuss issues and how they feel about school. Many have said the school had a competitive atmosphere and the pressure to get good grades (honor roll, straight A’s etc.) stressed them daily. My English teacher had said, “Honestly, I hate grading. I wish I did not have to give grades at all but I have to according to the principal. Seriously, how do you grade someone’s intelligence?”

Later in the discussion someone brought up the point that, “grades are not accurately a reflection of intelligence at all. If you let a letter on a piece of paper define your intellectual abilities then you are a fool to believe that.” This was a point that influenced several other responses from students.

Here are a few notable points students had said during the discussion that astonished me:
“I do work here but I don’t really have a motivation for actually doing work in school.”

“School, nowadays does not grade on intelligence but emphasizes hard work.”

“I hope teachers know I have a social life but slowly kill it when ever we get free time out of school especially on holidays. We need a social life to function efficiently in society.

“I have seen the brightest students in my years of teaching here and have bad grades because they do not do the work or turn it in. Really, to survive school is basically just to do the work.” – Teacher

“I hate how my friends from my other schools have like straight A’s or honor roll and I take the same classes as them but I barely pass.”

Personally I find the grading system outrageous. Society has manipulated it as a indicator of intelligence. With the amount of cheating and violations of academic integrity rising in competitive schools why does it even matter? Sure, you had Straight A’s in school but in reality you do not know self defense or something of equal importance.

Are there any possible solutions to fixing or changing the grading system?
Also, how is the grading system where you live like?

How does one know if the sea if full? Clearly, if the sea is full there would be no land do to land being submerged under land. Another thing, the meaning could also be linked to tenacity and potential. No matter how many times you do something to improve you can always get better.

Topic: Serious Discussion / What is you're opinion on existence?

In my opinion its all (1) you trying to survive and (2) you helping everyone else survive. All the variables considered from anything ethical to environmental play a role in your life as well.

1. People initially are existing with efficient assets and flaws. It is up to them to utilize them in a way it is in favor of them much like natural selection to live efficiently as possible.

2. You must try to contribute something to ensure survival of your kind. Even being an obstacle at times could help.

Just my personal idea on this concept on survival of the fittest but you probably will encounter positions like this on a topic similar to this one.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Cannibalism

So I’m assuming we can not end world hunger by means of cannibalism. The population birth rate will very soon exceed production of food. Finding an alternative like cannibalism regardless of ethics will suffice. We’ve eaten Mcdonalds nuggets, its a little bit more extreme than their ingredients.

Killing is wrong in society, its natural to kill in order to survive. Some people are proposing that ideals vs. truth concept here, just saying.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Curiosity

If knowledge is nourishment, then curiosity is hunger. You’re basically feeding yourself out of satisfaction. If you eat too much you get health problems and if you don’t eat enough you’ll die of starvation. That last statement was metaphorical obviously, but the main point is that it should be done in moderation. Knowledge is a good thing but you can get scarred at some information you retain. Ignorance is a bliss.

Topic: Serious Discussion / What defines "right" and "wrong"?

What is ethical seems to defines right and wrong. At the individual level a man sees what he or she does as usually right and decides what is wrong on his or her own. But when this individual takes the rules established by other on right and wrong into consideration his whole view can be influenced. If ignored, he will be considered some sort of “heretic” by society and they will all band together and try to show him he is either wrong or what he is doing is wrong. It kinda follows what has been said about the conducts on different levels of relationships.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Homeschool and Social Development

Suppose when the individual is exposed to these “bad influences” later on in life, the individual will try to compensate for all the socializing oppurtunities they had missed out on before. Would the individual still be subject to bad influences due to assimilation, or trying to fit in? The individual needs to build some exposure at least, to build up an immunity of some sort.

I also know a guy who has been home schooled from what I can infer to bullying. He is not very humorous in my opinion, but he does try to socially connect to people through instant messengers and forums. I guess this can be a way to acquire some social interaction. Home schooling should be an environment for education predominately and should stray away from anything along the lines of solitary confinement. After all, we do live in a society that requires interaction and communication.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Parenting

Parents shouldn’t control first of all, but merely guide or goad into a specific ideal kind of person. When a child is neglected or tries to defy the environmental factors will act in on the child and most likely influence them more than their parents. Truth is, a parent can only do as much as they can while they are present.

I’ve been thinking deeply about this topic, and I came to this conclusion. (If you are an Atheist or Un-Believer you can press back right now. — Oops I just lost everyone in SD.)

Suppose these homosexuals love god as if they would love another of the same sex? Would they still go to hell for believing in God in an affectionate way as it would make them have a sort of gay mentality?

Commit genocide on all residents in 3rd world countries as there’s probably not any useful resources there anyways. But i do believe less people means you don’t need a lot of food, but then again production comes into the equation which can be remedied by the result of multiple kinds of machinery.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Proof that god is fake

Atheism is basically the default setting of select religion as soon as you come into this world. One’s guardians and environment can shape the person’s religion and goad them into a select religion. I don’t really care as to what god I believe in, but i find it high proposterous that a man can create animals at will. That is just as believable as alchemy.
