Heh, seems square brackets come out as superscript text, but I guess you know what I mean. [ 0 ]

Well, I’m not going to analyse it too much, but the first thing that stands out is you’re hit testing enemy0 against bullet0, then enemy1 against bullet1. So you’re not testing every object against each other. You need a for loop within a for loop to achieve what you’re after.

Even a for loop within a for loop can be made more efficient so that you don’t unnecessarily hit test two objects twice within the loops, but that’s a whole other story, I suggest you get the basics working first.

Hope that helps.

Like others have said – the paint demo is awesome! I love the way you got the physics working with the paint. It took me a while to work out why you had ‘unreachable’ platforms. I then realised that if you fire the paint behind you when you jump, you get pushed along and you can reach them. Excellent.

PS arseiam, I just checked your demos – they’re awesome too. Oh how I love AS3.

I’d say go with AS3. It won’t take you long to get the basics down and AS3 blows AS2 out of the water in terms of runtime performance.

I recommend these two books to get you started:

EAS3

Learning ActionScript 3.0: A Beginner’s Guide

Also, check out these threads – very handy:

Kirupa AS3 Tip of the Day

Newgrounds As3:Main

Good luck and let us know how you get on ;-)

In my opinion the best two books are (AS3):

EAS3

Learning ActionScript 3.0: A Beginner’s Guide

Both excellent books, probably best to start with the beginners guide. Let us know how you get on ;-)
