Similar Objects
When you have multiple objects (e.g. enemies in topdown shooter games) have a single class, such as “Ship”, that all Ship enemies extend to so that you do not have to type var health:int = 0; a bunch of times, and so if you change one behaviour it affects all enemies instead of only one type.

The first coding language I learned was Pascal, followed by C++, followed by AS2, then eventually AS3. The problem with Java is that is tends to be buggy and slow in comparison with other languages. I’m not saying it’s inherently so, it’s just that with something default cross-platformy you end up with bugs. Start with C++ or Java, move to actionscript.

It’s fine if you are making it go really fast and have an option to skip to end of text, I think. If anybody needs any code, I can help them, I have as2 and as3 code and can teach you how to do stuff.

I wish most apple fans weren’t so ignorant and dare I say it sort of blind followers. I actually like apple products cause I know them and grew up with them, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like flash. I don’t love every single decision apple makes, and I wish people would learn to think like that.

Compiler normally throws a fit when I try to access them on a non-Object object.

If an alien came down to earth and knew behavioural english but not nouns of subjects, compilers would be a huge jerk of a person.

I need some help optimizing some code. My game is a side-scrolling shooter. The enemies are MovieClips that each have their own Event.ENTER_FRAMEs, as well as smoke effects that work in the same way. I have some ways to reduce graphics (options menu), but it takes a lot out of the game. Is there any tips people can give me about optimizing with a lot of Movieclips on screen at once?

much like flash, PHP benefits from there being only one (or very few minor ones) interpreter to run the language. and yes, PHP is interpreter. not compiled or with JIT, so it is very much like AS2.

Haha, PASCAL! :D First language I learned, programmed it on Mac OS 8 :D

Also, I do some coding with python (this), its a quite nice language actually.

The problem is that Ciphode enlarges the string size by 5x or more.

It’s not a compression program, it’s an encoding problem :D
