New Aries is an active and high-ranking city with a population of 450k and growing. Every resource is at maximum regeneration and the only upgrades we have left are the 250mil and 1bil customer building upgrades. The levels in town vary from the mid-70s up to the mid-90s.

  • Level 75 or higher – if you’re close to that and think you’ll be a good fit we can talk :)
  • Highly active (logging in and progressing regularly)
  • Maintain a B rating or greater and keep up on minimum donations

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / Advanced players boredom

Personally I think PvP or some other dramatic change is what’s needed to save the game for most advanced players. Many of the players in my town are in the later stages of the game and it’s become very obvious that we’re all losing interest. All that’s left in town are some huge 250mil and 1bil money upgrades and none of us seem too excited to take those on without the incentive of something like PvP to push us. I think a lot of other towns are feeling that too.

I’m a level 93 player and at this point I play the game just for a few minutes each day, mostly just to cycle quests and put a little cash into chugging along on the the last upgrades. PvP would really rejuvenate things for late-game players and would bring me back into the fold personally, as well as probably some of the big cash spenders that have left. But after 8 months of PvP “coming soon” and with only one very minor patch since the new customers were introduced last year, I don’t think it’s going to happen. So it goes.

Yes, if for no other reason than more content. It’s a sound business decision anyway – just a cursory glance at the Kongregate developer’s presentation shows that games with PvP elements rake in significantly more money than games without.

Even just a hint that it’s in progress would be nice. Or a hint towards any sort of new content update.

Really though, Lamatiel knows that 90% of the player base wants PvP and have wanted it since July. I really hope Edgebee implements something soon, but after “coming soon” for 8 months I’ve pretty much given up :/

I don’t understand your overall skepticism though since I don’t believe anything else in my post beyond that one mistake is inherently wrong. I’m looking at trade as I write this and every item I listed is currently going for well over the quick sale prices. Unholy Talisman is even going for 3.5mil right now.

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / The Value of Rares [Calculations]

I understand you weren’t taking World Trade into consideration, but if your true goal is maximizing profit per rare then World Trade is far and away the best path to take for the some of the rares – especially the lower tier rares like acid, tears, and rocks. It also circumvents the high customer level requirements for the upper tier rares like scales, suns, and leaves. Of the 14 recipes listed, 7 are level 19-20 recipes.

Some examples of World Trade sales with prices that will sell very quickly and the highest successful prices I’ve seen on (which may take awhile to sell):

Acid: Ring of the Dice
Quick sale – 20k @ 20k per acid
Highest I’ve seen – 33k @ 33k per acid

Faery’s Tear: Healer’s Companion
Quick sale – 50k @ 25k per tear
Highest I’ve seen – 80k @ 40k per tear

Volcanic Rock: Fire Dagger
Quick sale – 50k @ 25k per rock
Highest I’ve seen – 100k @ 50k per rock

Eternal Ice: Frozen Feather
Quick sale – 150k @ 75k per ice
Highest I’ve seen – 200k @ 100k per ice

Dragon Scale: Unholy Talisman
Quick sale – 500k @ 500k per scale
Highest I’ve seen – 1mil @ 1mil per scale

These items will sell especially quick if you build 10 or more of them and list them all at the same price at once. A person looking to buy a couple hundred Fire Daggers will be far more likely to use a coupon and buy your items if they see more than just a few listed at the current price, and that same person will also be more likely to buy at higher prices since they need so many and want to get as much as they can off their one coupon. For example, if you had 50 Fire Daggers at once you could fairly easily find someone on Kong chat that would offer you 80-100k each.

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / Event quests and customer XP.

As of now there are no event quests involving the new classes (monks, paladins, necromancers, etc). When the patch which introduced all the new classes first arrived last November there was talk that event quests were being considered, but I haven’t heard anything since.

A couple new chains of event quests which focus on the new classes would be a huge improvement and I’m pretty sure it’s high on everyone’s wishlist. I assume Edgebee knows the players would like this so let’s hope we see it sometime soon. It’s been 3 months since the last big patch so I’m keeping hope alive that we’ll see another big one sometime soon.

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / Missing City Chat? Try This...

A new patch with some minor changes came out today, but there is one big change that broke City Chat and in-game mailing for something like 80% of all players (at least that’s how it seems on Kong chat right now) – me included, and possibly you. So if your City Chat window is no longer appearing and you can’t send in-game messages, here’s what I did to fix it (big thanks to nickvdb and others in Kong chat for pointing me down the right path):

- Go to the main webpage. In the upper right corner is a space for signing in. Try signing in with either your Kongregate username, your S&P2 username, or the email you tried to register with when the game asked you for one. One of these should work.

- It will say your password is wrong. Click the “forgot password” link that shows up.

- You’ll receive an email at the email address you provided to them in the game with your new Edgebee password (it will just be a random jumble of letters and numbers). Try logging in to the Edgebee site again with the new password and the username/email you used to get to the “forgot password” link. It should work this time.

- Click the “Edit” button in the upper-right corner of the page, next to your username. Change the email address you have listed to a different address – either an address you actually use, or if it has already listed your correct address then just make something up and write it in both of the empty spaces that appear and then immediately change it again back to your correct email address.

- You’ll receive an email at that address which asks you to validate your email. Click the link in the email to validate it.

- After that, refresh the game. You should have everything working again.

Hopefully that helps anyone who ran into problems. If this doesn’t work for you then I’m sorry, I don’t have any further answers to help you. Nor do I know what to tell you if you did or did not get the 250 tokens they promised. I’m just a player trying to spread the word on one way to possibly fix this mess. Either way I imagine Edgebee will eventually roll back on all this, since I would call this a rather catastrophic patch attempt :/

Also for anyone who is curious, here’s all the patch changed as far as I know:

- Monks can now use spears on quests, and some can buy them too
- The War College 500 Frozen Feathers upgrade was changed to 250 Frozen Feathers
- The max level is now 120 and not 100
- The Mindful Staff recipe ingredients have been changed (Mindful Staff is a very high level recipe that few people have – check the S&P2 wiki for details)

You’re having trouble keeping up with customer demand – this is a good thing, as it means you’re selling the items you’re making. You’re viewing the balance between demand/production/profit as a design flaw when really it’s the intentional challenge of the game. Shop management.

The progression in the game is to continue to unlock better recipes so that you can make more by selling them, and to level your customers so they will be able to purchase those items. Eventually your recipe levels are going to outpace your customers and you’ll be yearning for the days when every item you made sold immediately. That’s the reason you see thousands of items on trade that are level 15 and higher – those are all people who invested in high level recipes they are not yet ready to sell, and now they only wish they had trouble keeping stock.

If you’re not satisfied with the amount of money you’re making from selling many small items, unlock better ones that sell for more money. Start specializing in particular recipe paths and customers that you feel you can profit the most from. This is part of the strategy of the game – balancing customer demands with production, resource use with profit, and choosing the customers and recipes to level and specialize. Again, shop management.

Very much agreed. We had 45 event quests for the 12 classes of old customers, so having more event quests for the 8 new classes makes sense. Even if it’s just tacking extra quests onto the existing event quest chains specifically for the new customers – anything would be great.

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / WHAT A NONSENSE!

For anyone who doesn’t know, you can list items on World Trade free and as often as you’d like. Buying items from World Trade is the only thing restricted by coupons. Also City Trade is always free, both buying and selling.

Over the course of the game you acquire a lot of free coupons – I’ve never bought a coupon, yet I’ve used World Trade probably about 10 times and still have more unused coupons than I need. The trick is to save up before using one then plan ahead and buy pre-crafts, quest items, or whatever else you might need for the near future on one coupon. Doing it that way you’ll be fine with one coupon every week or two, which is probably about how many free coupons you’ll end up with over time.

Your customer’s levels will only change if you level them further. Moving to a new town which doesn’t have that customer’s building will just put them in “storage” until you unlock them again, then they’ll show up at the same level you left them.

There is no definitive end but if you are inactive for too long the game will reset.

If you are inactive for more than 15 days you are automatically removed from a public city. When you log in again you are placed into a random new public city, just like when you first started. Your shop progress, recipes, leveled customers, and all the other things that really determine your shop’s capabilities are not affected. In private cities you can be inactive for as long as you want, as long as the mayor doesn’t kick you.

In both cases you can shop around for a new town and easily pick up where you left off.

I’d also like a way to temporarily nullify the walls. Not for this exact reason (although it is valid), but because high walls prevent you from finishing event quests. For example, Demon in the Mist requires 2 Mercenaries but if you have max walls only 1 Mercenary will ever visit your shop. I know a number of people who never finished that quest because the customers involved were all maxed and they didn’t want to hunt down 2 Staff of Destruction and a Dragon Leather for no real benefit, but with the new max 20 Engineer it suddenly became worthwhile. However now the quest is impossible due to their walls. The same could apply to Summit Witch with the new max 20 bard.

It also presents a major problem if you decide to start a new town, as you will be forced into an odd random customer arrangement until the city catches up to your walls – something which can take a very long time if your walls are high enough. This happened to me when I chose to start a new city at a high level, and while eventually my city caught up it was nevertheless an annoyance for the 3-4 weeks that took.

Ideally just a way to turn the wall effect entirely (and temporarily) off/on in the build menu would be best, rather than forcing a shop to delete the most expensive upgrades in the game just to accommodate an event quest or town move. I imagine the ability to simply turn the effect entirely on or off would be easier to code than a tiered downgrade system, and it would resolve all of the problems mentioned above.

Topic: Swords & Potions 2 / Bug Reports and Issues

Just to add to the noise, the Temple in my city is also bugged in the same way. It immediately showed as upgraded to level 5 when I logged in shortly after the update, with all monks unlocked except for Chan. The people in my town have yet to see any monks, and also the population of our city did not change from before the update despite the Temple saying it was now level 5 rather than the prior level 3. I’m guessing that should have added 10k or so to our population.

We can donate the Potions of Return to the Temple for the next upgrade but I’m rather hesitant to do so for fear the Temple may be rolled back to level 3 and delete our donations – which realistically it should be, since we didn’t put in any of the work to get from level 3 to 5 :)

I’ve also heard a number of others express this in chat, so I believe it’s a very common issue despite the relatively few posts in the forums.

New Aries is recruiting!

New Aries is a young city that has been in a constant state of upgrading since creation. The city was started just a couple weeks ago and is already at a population of 150k and will continue to grow rapidly. Every resource and building is unlocked and everything that isn’t maxed out is currently being upgraded.

  • Active player (logging in and progressing regularly)
  • Willing to chat and ask for help if you need it :)

Benefits of joining:

  • Until you reach level 50 no donations are required. After you reach level 50 donate when and where you can, shooting for a C or higher.
  • I’m happy to help you with event quests and am able to craft every recipe needed up to the level 75 quests, so you won’t need to worry about items you can’t craft.
  • If you are working on a particular recipe I can help you with the pre-crafts and sell them to you via City Trade to soften the blow of the more daunting craft trees (scrolls and staves, for example).

Topic: Dawn of the Dragons / Bugs

Correction to my above post – it seems that any time I try to save any legion to the “Attack Brigades” slots, the first slow works fine but all the others will not save. Also, when I clock the “Close” button to exit the legions window it repeatedly asks me “Save brigade before closing?” When I click Yes, the screen does not change and nothing happens. However if I click “No,” it takes me back to the Attack/Defense brigades screen and the issue of having the Commander’s picture but no legion information comes up.

I’m also experiencing the legion saving bug. In my case, I’m specifically having issues with the “Double Strike IV” legion – whenever I try to save a legion in it for an invasion brigade it shows the photo of the commander in the brigade lineup but does not save the name, legion title, or power information. When I then click on the brigade it’s as if I had never assigned a legion to that slot.

Topic: Technical Support / Lost all game progress

Just for the record, I am experiencing this problem as well. Windows XP, Firefox (latest), Flash 11.1. Flash is set to unlimited storage, and Firefox is set to keep all cookies until they expire.

I’ve noticed this most recently with the game Kingdom Rush ( a game which even has a disclaimer for save game issues). Over the past week, it has deleted my save game file on two occasions. I’ve shut down my computer multiple times during that period and it didn’t delete the file – it really seems to occur randomly. The first time I was about 5 stages in, the second I was very near fully completing the game – two very different sizes for the .sol files.

After playing games on Kongregate for the past two years this is the first and only time it has ever happened to me and only with the game Kingdom Rush thus far. I think the fact that everyone who has mentioned this problem has also mentioned the game Kingdom Rush shows that there might be a problem with specific games, particularly since Kingdom Rush even mentions on the game page that people have been having issues with saving.
