Gear does not affect your level, levels affect which gear, or in this case, spells is/are available for use. Gear affects your combat bonuses, such as accuracies, strengths and defenses. To find the price of an item, check out the GE in Varrock or try runescape.wikia.com The Tome of Frost is quite easy to get and hardly signifies no life. It’s about a day of work. It’s nice but it really depends on your uses and your level. I could easily obtain a Tome of Frost in a day but it’s not worth it for me because the water runes are so cheap already. On the other hand, if you’re tight on money, the Tome of Frost might be a very good option for you.

The best advice I can give is learn to check runescape.wikia.com because you will eventually grow to learn everything you need to know about the game and your knowledge will be much more satisfying if you know how everything fits together yourself. That site has everything.

With melee weapons, you see both accuracies, listed under their particular attack style; slash, stab, crush etc., and also melee strength which is simply listed as Strength. Magic is different in that the strength of the magic is dependent upon the spell or items being used. More magical attack means more magic accuracy. Less magic attack means less accuracy. That’s basically the penalty with metal armor and also the reason Void Knight armor is often preferred for particular tasks. Metal armor is not advisable for most magic training situations because of the high negative bonuses. I can’t weigh in on it’s use in pvp though I would assume that it’s still not ideal there either. Alteir has already laid out a lot of the best items in f2p and he would know better than I but definitely use a scimitar until you can use the Gravite 2h and even in training situations I think a Rune Scimitar may still be better. Alteir might know that one also.

I guess I can’t speak for you when I say recovery is easy but for me it’s always been quite easy. If I lost my account there’s absolutely no way in hell I’d ever come back to this game and start all over again given the amount of time invested into my account. But since the OP is still level 3, he might as well.

Well, I was sort of referring to Szoty’s point about creating a new character. It is really the most reasonable piece of advice in this thread.

While, unfortunately, my point does paint a bleak picture, I would encourage you to explore the game a bit further. To judge RuneScape by such a small frame of reference would undoubtedly support a misinformed view of the game. Who knows, you may end up playing for 6 months and still feel it’s a shitty game. That’s your own right to feel however you want about it. But the thing about RuneScape is that it only opens up the more you play. There is really never LESS content. Only ever MORE content. Some content is older, some is newer. You can see that through graphical differences, and in some cases, playability differences. This is a game in motion. It is constantly evolving. Your experience with one part of the game is not indicative of another part. I would encourage you to give it one more shot.

Jagex customer support is pretty notoriously shoddy. You are dealt with much quicker by customer support if you are a paying member. Again, frustrating but understandable. There are literally millions of RS accounts in existence right now. Accounts are never deleted, only ever banned but that does not remove the account entirely either. For Jagex to investigate this issue would be a very rare circumstance for such a tiny team of developers to handle. The Jagex team is quite small. To put it in perspective for you, there are no more than 5 staff members handling player reports at any given time. I would venture to say 5 is a high number, I think it’s more around 2-4 people dealing with reports, to be honest. Think of how many reports happen a day. It’s sad, but they won’t all be addressed, at least not anytime soon.

On the upside, Jagex being smaller is advantageous in some ways. They are able to be more community oriented, I mean, the mods are known by their names, like celebrities almost. This is helpful for really engaging the playing community.

Anyway, I’m sorry for your glitch. Let’s assume that it DEFINITELY is a glitch that you had no control over. Who’s to say you’re wrong and it’s not a glitch? Ok, so we know it’s a glitch, what now? Well you could wait forever for Jagex to deal with it, and they probably never will because it is such an isolated incident. I’ve played this game over 10 years now and I have NEVER heard of anything remotely close to what you are describing. If it’s a glitch, it’s very, very rare.

While I understand, and even support, your concern about customer service and maintaining customer satisfaction, there are some compromises to made. I have played other online games and Jagex has pretty decent support overall, not the best for sure, but certainly not the worst. On the player’s side, you have situations like this that won’t be dealt with, or, I should say, PROBABLY won’t be dealt with. Or you got hacked/scammed/whatever and lost your items, they’re gone, that’s it. Jagex does not replace them. In fact, they never were YOUR items. Jagex owns all the rights to every item in the game so technically you lost THEIR items. Therefore, they don’t refund things like that, it would be way too messy with people claiming they lost A, B or C. As for your starter items, if you want them back without making a new account, as long as you can leave the room you’re stuck in, I’ll hook you up with the starter kit again, no problem and you can be on your way to enjoying the game. As for other support, they are good about recovering accounts, which is usually quite easy as long you have the information required and they are pretty good about listening to what players want. I mean everybody wants something different so it’s a bit of a debatable point but all in all Jagex tries to listen to the players and they even change updates accordingly which is pretty impressive. They could just tell you to fuck off and play the game or don’t. So at least there’s that.

Finally, if you still cannot leave that room and you actually do have interest in playing, at least entertain our idea for a minute. Make a new account. You’re not bound to it in any way. You’re allowed as many accounts as you want. I’ve made several accounts that I never logged into again early on. It doesn’t matter. If you start the new account and it’s bugging the hell out of you that you can’t use your original one then just close your browser and never play this again. But on the other hand, maybe you’ll find you really enjoy the game. It’s worth it to at least TRY. It will take you like 15 mins to set it up.

Anyway, once more, good luck with your issue. Sorry there’s nothing we can do, we’re just players, not staff. Sorry the RS official forums weren’t a great help either. Like I said, your situation is extremely rare. You’d be hard pressed to find anybody who could relate to it without actually seeing a screenshot, which if you have some, would be helpful to post.

As I stated before, I’ve played this game far longer than I would normally care to admit but all in all I am satisfied with experience. I have quit this game many times, cursing it and saying how I’ll never play again because something frustrated me. But here I am, I always come back. The reason I come back is because, truth be told, I love the game, even despite all it’s flaws. It’s not perfect, but there’s really not another game like it. It’s original and it’s different. It’s pretty timeless too, an evolving piece of art. So I hope your experience with it goes better, if not, then there’s nothing wrong with finding a game that suits your needs more.

If you mean your clothes, hair, skin etc. then yes. You can’t change facial features, there’s only a male and female face but you can change hair and skin. Check out the Makeover Mage to change skin, the Barber for hair, the shoe lady in Rellekka for shoes and clothes in the Varrock clothes shop. You need to be a member to change shoes, maybe some other stuff too.

Unfortunately, if you don’t want to take the advice given, there’s really nothing we can do. We are simply a community of RuneScape players, many of us have played for many years and have much experience with the game. I have seen the game not load certain things and keep them black before due to lag or minor glitches but your part about dying and getting stuck somewhere rings not a single bell in my head.

Let me make sure you understand that Jagex is NOT going to restore your items and they most likely will not even address the problem. They have made this very clear for over 10 years and I have never once heard of anybody ever getting a single item restored except in the case of major rollbacks where the entire server is rolled back. They are a big company and while this is frustrating it is understandable. The easiest and best solution would be to create a new character. If you’re not willing to do this, then honestly you’re just wasting your time coming here to rant because nobody on Kongregate works for Jagex. Nobody on Kongregate has any direct influence over this game whatsoever.

If you decide to create a new character then I hope the best for you and that you enjoy your experience, if not, then sorry for your unlucky circumstances, maybe try a different game.

I’m not quite sure I understand your problem, but if you’re concerned about dying, don’t be. Dying is literally not an issue until you get some gear that is expensive to lose. Obviously, losing anything is frustrating but you definitely do not need to create a new character because you died. You should respawn in the starting town, Lumbridge.

I have played this game for way more years than I care to admit and I have never once heard of an issue like this. Glitches like this aren’t on an individual basis, really almost no RS glitches are just available to one person. There would be other people experiencing the glitch as well. Perhaps you thought something was a glitch that you simply did not yet understand? That is quite understandable being new to the game. When I first started this game I didn’t know how to move at first because I was so used to WASD games.

The only attackable NPCs in Lumbridge are all non-aggressive. Perhaps you accidently clicked on something that you couldn’t yet handle? I’m not sure.

Of course, there is a very small possibility that what you experienced is indeed a glitch, in which case I would encourage you to create a new account and start over since you didn’t lose anything to begin with. Don’t let this experience color your RuneScape experience as a whole. I have been playing this game for many years and the deeper you get into the game, the more it opens up for you and becomes a more immersive experience. RS is kind of what you make of it. I’d say give it another try since you’re obviously interested in playing, otherwise you wouldn’t post here.
