Topic: Kongregate / Exciting big time news! Kongregate's been acquired by GameStop!

Why, oh why, has Kongai been removed from the home menu? I thought it’s the flagship game of Kongregate, but now there isn’t any link to it on the main page :(

I’ve seen Rumi/Powder used by several high ranked players and they used her very effectively as a hit-and-run character and also for choosing favorable range for the next char. A well played Rumi/Powder is an excellent control character just like Tafari. Some of opponents buttons become practically useless when she doesn’t have switch cooldown. IMO, the most notable thing about Rumi/Powder is that I’ve only seen 40+ SR players use her. Actually I think Powder and YRoC are the only viable items for her in the current meta, because the ever so common Girdle makes Eviscerate almost useless making Rumi/Scroll less than effective.

1 Cain, necronomic tome vs. Yoshiro, general’s insignia [6-4] Yoshi needs a stun, but he has 3 chances to get it.

2 Balthazar, Spyglasses vs. Onimaru, Scroll [8-2] Oni’s high phys def means Balt needs a lot of attacks to kill him, but he also has hard time to land 3 SFs while Balt’s phys def is debuffed.

3 Tafari, deadly poison vs. Helene, herbal remedy [6-4] Range guessing will decide this.

4 Auger, Sextant vs. Rance, healing slave[5-5] Big guessing games can completely turn this around.

5 Ambrosia, necronomic tome vs. Amaya jade Figurine [6-4] Amaya is very dependent on her innate here.

6 Andromeda, Sharping stone vs Anex, Valkyrie charm [0.5-9.5] What shadowclaw said…

7 Starbuck, Grog Mug vs. Cornelius, blood vial [7-3] Corn has hard time to not proc Mug, and Starbuck kills him in 2-3 attacks. Successfull range dancing gives him a decent chance though.

8 Phoebe, Sharping stone vs. Ubuntu, Death mask [5-5] A lot of randomness involved due to Phoebe’s Crack and innate.

9 Cain, necronomic tome vs. Anex Sharping stone [6-4] A lot of randomness due to the items.

10 Rumiko, Flash powder vs. Yoshiro Crane [0-10] I think Rumi can only win with a 3% crit on Shurikens.

11 Onimaru, lemon jade Figurine vs. Juju Gridle [7-3] Starting at close pretty much decides this.

12 Cornelius, Ring of curse vs. Darla, Totem, Scroll, Tomes [4-6] Darla has a slight advantage due to her items and needs to Pilfer asap.

Bonus Question

Bestor, Bracers vs. Cornelius, gridle [] I’ll skip this, cause I don’t know Bestor well enough.

The econometrics guy was the only one making false assumptions about game mechanics. He clearly didn’t understand that there are different die rolls for hit and proc.

@Cerberus: Aimed Shot tooltip says it has 50% crit rate, I’d trust that. On the other hand, Sharpening Stone bonus is added to the innate crit rate of the moves, so 3% → 28% and 25% → 50% (Trueshot). The same goes for Ubu’s crit buff afaik.

Topic: Kongai / Boomerang Chakram

It’s 25 damage and you can buff it to 33 using Enchant Blade. Anex was seriously OP when it used to hit fleeing 100%, which was a bug in the first place. It should have been 90%, but the proc was rolled after the move already hit, so it didn’t work as it should have. Now having the proc rate at 85% leaves some room for mind games there, which is a good thing imo. You always have the option to intercept, if you think enemy’s gonna switch. Use Boomerang when you’re in greater doubt.

Topic: Kongregate / Facebook invading

It sucks to be one of those 1%, although I guess I should feel lucky, I rarely win in lottery. Anyway, I’d rather see the contest leaderboards than some crappy facebook add. By all means, if you need to have a facebook add on the site, put it in the correct spot, which is above the current one ("this add supports the people… " -spot).

Btw SavageWolf, how do you know about this test?

Candle definitely has a chance to prevent interrupts. The red debuff symbol is only shown on effects which last until the next turn. Interrupts only last for the turn they are used on.

The only negative effect I haven’t seen prevented by Candle are the range changing procs like Ninja-Port. My sample size is very low here though. Has anyone else noticed if Candle can prevent that?

Edit: @PhantomPete: ToD, CoJ and BR can be prevented by Candle, but they can’t be removed once they get through (by Juju’s innate for example).

BB works the way it should (stat reduction) against Ambro. Long time ago BB additionally dealt some burn damage (2 for 3 turns, iirc) and Ambro was immune to that damage.

Did you know that Popo’s Poison Dart can’t proc Deadly Poison or Herbal Prep poison if the attack is absorbed (i.e. enemy has at least 5 dark resist)? This is one of the reasons that Popo/DP is not widely used.

EDIT: I forgot the topic itself. My favorite card is Ambrosia. A finisher and a tank in the same package.

Topic: Kongai / Connection problems?

Connection problems have plagued Kongai players ever since it was released, but it hasn’t been anything that you couldn’t overcome. Usually refreshing your browser helps, but you have to do it rather quickly when you find out that you’re being disconnected, otherwise your opponent gets to declare victory.

Topic: Kongai / advice for beginner

Play random all until you get some more cards, especially items. Oni/Crane is decent, but you don’t have any good items for your other characters. You’ll get a better overview of different cards, when you play with random decks.

I haven’t read through the thread to see if these things have been suggested before, but here I go anyway.

1. I’d like to have a preview mode for forum posts. After submiting a post it’s really annoying to see the whole thing cluttered because of one missing tag or some such.

2. This is actually the one I’m keener to see. It’d be really nice to have a Kongai bug fix log somewhere on Kongregate, or at least add them to this Changelog. This would serve a totally different purpose than Sirlin’s balance change log. There are some dedicated Kongai players who would probably test those fixes to see they really have been fixed and that there aren’t any unwanted side-effects either, but this would be much easier if Kongregate would actually notify Kongai players of any possible changes.

I was really happy to see it when Kong started to publish general site update change logs some time ago, and I expected to see the same for Kongai too, but there’s been nothing so far. Any good reason for this?

Now, my two cents on topic. I haven’t yet played with or against Balt, but he seems to be quite powerful. Just by looking at the card, I’d say increasing Drop Kick’s energy cost to 35 would put him more in line with other chars.

Your current W/L ratio has nothing to do with your future skill rank, unless you meant that you don’t believe you could do better in the future. Even if your win rate is only around 45%, you could slowly advance in rankings, because you don’t lose the full amount of rank points when you lose a match, if you’re below SR 29.

Filler 2 badges would be most welcome, but I think a hard badge for all challenges would be too hard. I tried only a few challenges in each set, and the second and third sets seemed to be pretty difficult. Fourth set seemed to be quite easy, while the first set was somewhere in between. Have you guys tried doing the harder challenges in sets 2 and 3? I think they would cause a lot of frustration for an average player, and therefore people would rate the game badly.

Does Filler 2 actually report any challenge related stats? In highscores there are only stats related to the regular mode. I don’t feel like installing Firefox and Firebug to test that. Is there any way to test it in Chrome?
