Topic: Game Design / Zombie Game Idea

- Fatmen. Fat or bloated zombies. They vomit stomach acid on you, temporarily blinding you and causes ‘poison’ damage. Also causes your Immunity bar to go down. Not very good sight or hearing, but will relentlessly follow you.

- Trackers. Semi-intelligent, beast-like zombies that travel in packs. After seeing/hearing you, they will relentlessly follow, surround, and ambush you repeatedly. In order to stop them, you have to kill all of them. If a zombie manages to get away or if you miss one, it will regroup and attack you again, possibly with more zombies. Sprinter type of zombie (moves fast, then normally, then fast again).

- Wall zed. Zombie with a white, superdense exoskeleton. Moves somewhat slowly, but is very dangerous at close range. Regular guns and standard melee weapons have little to no effect on them. Use either armor piercing rounds, Weighted or Pierce type melee weapons, or explosives to take it out.

- Smart Zed. Some of these guys are nice, and some will kill you without a thought. These zed have very good hearing and vision and are very fast. They equip themselves in armor and weapons and hide their faces to disguise themselves as wanderers. When you get close enough, they will open fire on you and try to kill you. The nice ones will look greener and walk around with their head uncovered, the murderous ones are more pale or crimson. Most of the nice ones also tend to carry a pole with a well cared for white flag. The murderous ones will do the same, but their flags are more tattered-looking.

- Plant zed. These zed are a unique shade of green and are surprisingly docile(unless if you attack them, then they get viscous) They can be mostly found in open, sunny areas.

- Strong zed. These zombies have an incredible physique that can withstand most melee/unarmed weapons. Getting within its grasp is almost certain death.

- Animal zed. Very uncommon, most travel in packs and their sizes range from lone Z-bears to swarms of Z-rats.

- Rad zed. These zed give off nuclear radiation. The closer you get to them the more radiation you get, even when they’re dead. These guys regenerate at a ludicrous speed and are very fast and powerful.

Not sure if I should accept challenge or decline… I’m sorry, challenge declined.

Oh man, I forgot to put something down for the party system. Well, you’ll be able to have up to 9 party members with you. The reason why is that I remembered reading from this zombie thread that the best chances for survival is to have a group of 4-10 people… So you don’t have to max out your party, you just pick the group size that fits your level of manageability. If you guys have any other questions about this, feel free to ask!

Zombie types…
- The classic walking zombie. Dull sense of sight and hearing. Easy to sneak past and (somewhat) easy to kill (depending on how you kill it), but very difficult to break out of their grip if they manage to get a hold of you. Generally found in small groups of 3-9 or alone.

- The good ol’ running zombie. Very good sense of sight and a decent sense of hearing. A lighter frame and its speed makes it somewhat difficult to kill at a distance, so either take it out outside of it’s radar or wait for it to get close enough to kill with your melee/unarmed weapon. Also, it’s not a screamer so the only indicator that one of them is charging at you is the last few seconds of the sound of pattering feet and an almost last-second indicator that they’re behind you.

- Crawlers(another one of the silent type). You either notice them crawling toward your legs, or you won’t notice them until they take a chomp out of it. These guys are the only ones (other than possum zombies) that play dead, so be careful. Usually found near piles of corpses.

- Possum zed. They play dead until after you’ve passed, then attack you from behind. You’ll know when they’ve attacked you. Tend to hang out in small groups.

- Screamers. No sense of hearing, but very good vision. When it sees you, it’ll start screaming, attracting every zombie within a pretty decent radius, then starts following you. These guys are the ones who’ll start zombie hordes, so be careful around them.

Still a few more but I’m too tired to think of any.

OP, Outbreak is a great name. But are you actually making this game?

No. Unfortunately, it’s just an idea that I want to resolve and make into a possibility. But I would be pleased if someone actually made this into a game. All I’d ask in return is some credit for the ideas.

Topic: Game Design / Zombie Game Idea

No, not like Pacman… more like Fallout… and yes one of the goals is to reunite the family, and the other is to… you know what, I’m not really sure myself. Because seriously dude, I’m just a 15 year old adolescent with a random thought in my head that I’ve been working on for months. So until I think of a good storyline, I’ll let you know. And yes, I didn’t think everything through. That’s why I posted this up here. For some help. Thanks for helping by the way.
Anyways, the reason why I said “and possibly kids” is because I’ve still got to consider whether or not I should do that, or if actually having the kids is a probability that’s factored in depending on which career you choose.

A party system… yes, I was going to write down something about a party system, but I got distracted and I forgot about it until you brought it back up again…

It’s supposed to be FPS/3rd person shooter. For example, using guns would be in first person, and using melee/unarmed would be in 3rd person. Of course, this option can be changed according to preferences. As for the gametype… it’s supposed to be a mix of RTS and RPG.

Respect… in the game, there will be multiple factions & groups. Your interactions with them determines how they will act towards you.
Ex. If one faction says you earn respect from them by killing people from a different faction and you want to earn their favor, kill members of said different faction. In doing so, you earn some respect from the desired faction in exchange for the other faction baying for your blood.

But, if you think you want to reconsider your alliances, you can speak to any member of the faction that you’re planning to break away from and tell them that you’re ending your alliance with them. Depending on how that certain faction works, they will either hunt you down and try to kill you until you decide to rejoin them or they will just let you go.
Rejoining with a former allied faction or joining a new faction that you have repeatedly harassed will take a lot longer to (re)earn their trust.

Also, I just googled it… and you’re right… it is very cliche… BUT it’s the best I’ve got for now. :3

Based on your first sentence, I was expecting the second sentence to be a description of your idea in general terms. What kind of game you’re thinking about. Instead, it’s this laundry list of characteristics that have unclear bearing on how the game would ultimately function, so I’m confused. What is the game supposed to be? There’s a lot of info about your idea that’s stuck there in your brain and the rest of us don’t have access to it, so why don’t you start from the beginning:

What is the goal of the game?
How is the player represented in the game space, if at all?
How does the player interact with the game / change the state of the game?

Once you can articulate clear answers to these three basic questions, we can move on to more complex aspects.

The goal of the game… survive, obviously. Anyways, the goal is to find your wife (and possibly kids), who have gone to the city to visit your parents. Also, on a side note, you can also try to find your wife’s parents too.

I don’t really get the second question… sorry _

Well, you can earn your respect from other people by: catching criminals, capturing a specific zombie for it’s former family, killing people, killing zombies, killing criminals, etc.
Of course people react to you differently depending on how you interact with everyone e.g. they’ll scorn you if you go around insulting everyone or if you kiss up to unsavory characters, or if you randomly kill people, etc.
Likewise, they’ll like you if you try to be a good person e.g. be friendly, try to stop corrupt organizations, help them reclaim parts of their town/city, etc.

Oh yeah. I just remembered what I was going to call the game… Outbreak.

Topic: Game Design / Zombie Game Idea

So I’ve been thinking about this zombie game idea that’s been popping into my head more and more recently… this is all I’ve got so far.

Stats: Stats is the basic level of your character. NOTE: Different levels in stats also determine special Traits you earn later on when you level up.]
Toughness- How much health you have & damage your character can take.
Strength- How much you can carry & melee/unarmed damage is dealt.
Intelligence- Rate of Exp. gain. Also increases Repair, Crafting, Science and Lockpick skills.
Charisma- Improves Barter and Speech Skills.
Luck- Improves Crit. chance and basically every other positive probability.
Stamina- How long you can run and how much you can attack with your melee/unarmed weapon until you are exhausted.

Conditions: Conditions determine the current status of your character.
Hunger- 0/4: Health slowly decreases; 1/4: Strength and weapon accuracy decreases: 2/4: Nothing; 3/4: Slight increase in speed, Strength, and weapon accuracy: 4/4: Slight decrease in speed.
Thirst- <1/2: Slower movement & weaker melees. <1/4: Weaker melees, slower movement, & decreased weapon accuracy. 0/4: Health steadily goes down.
Sleep- 4/4: Increased melee/unarmed damage and weapon accuracy; 3/4: No in/decrease; 3/8: Slight decrease in weapon accuracy; 0/4: Decreased Stats, weapon accuracy, and speed.
Immunity- 4/4: Decreased chances of getting infected wounds (with natural bacteria) and zombie bites do less ‘infection’ damage; <4/4: Chances of getting infected wounds steadily increases and zombie bites start to deal more ‘infection’ damage.
Radiation- 4/4: Nothing; 3/4: Immunity bar starts decreasing; 2/4: Strength decreases; 1/4: Health stops gradually healing & your character generates a radiation field that debilitates enemies and improves your party’s stats; 0/4: Health decreases gradually.
Drug- Shows all addictive items and their current addiction level.
Temperature-

Skills:
Unarmed
Melee
Barter
Speech
Pistol
Rifle
Explosive
Lockpick
Special
Science
Crafting
Repair
Cooking
Sneak
Steal

Careers:
(Ex) Military Soldier
Fireman
Policeman
Bodyguard
Hitman
Teacher
College Student
Scientist (Biologist, Chemist, Engineer)
Lawyer
Mechanic

Unlockable
Superhero
Mutant
Mercenary
Bounty Hunter
Inventor
Veteran

Plot- You all start off in the small town called Nelton. Depending on which career you choose, you start off in a different area(e.g. College Student starts off in a university/ Teacher starts in a school/ Fireman starts off in fire depertment/etc.)
