Hi there! Anyone remember those official Kong downloadable games from a few months ago? No? Didn’t think so. But anyway! They’re not the purpose of this post.

See, when those games were downloaded, they came with a small little program called “Kongregate Client”. This program’s only purpose was to log into Kong so the downloadable games could put what you do on your account. I’d like to see an added feature for the Client: a stand-alone chat window so that someone can chat without having to deal with browsers and whatnot.

True, this would have almost no purpose whatsoever. But I, among others, think it would be a neat thing. Please consider implementing this.

Well, aren’t I lucky? I probably won’t be able to participate for a few days too, so this redemption round landed itself perfectly.

Now where’s Maist and Blizz trolling the players by posting 300+ scores for Hexagon? :P

Not to mention if the hacker has decent brains, they’ll keep everything within plausible limits so that they appear to be playing truthfully. For example, in the game “Survival Lab”, there’s a badge to get a score of 100,000. Now, if the leader board shows someone with an exact 100,000 score, there’s a decent chance they hacked. Likewise, if it shows something like 4294967295, then they either hacked or you’re looking at Maist’s score.

However, say it shows something like 185027. Looks like a completely possible score, right? I just typed that in at random (well, making sure a 1 was first). If I were to hack that score into the game and get the badge, there’s basically no one who could figure out it was hacked.

Now, the developer could possibly put in some checksums to detect hacking somehow (say, having mirror variables for all of the values that could be hacked, then checking to make sure they’re equal every few minutes), but that’s not in Kong’s hands. What Kong could possibly do is make all the games server-based, but then you start having massive load times as seen in most MMOs on the site. And that would get old fast.

Y’know, here’s what I don’t get. You guys are whining about the game spamming this person and that person, yet there’s one problem with that. The game doesn’t send anything without the players telling it to. The game itself isn’t the spammer; the player is.

Sure, the game has one of those “Invite Friends” things that lets you mass-message every single person you have on your friends list, but that doesn’t change the fact that the player has to actively send those messages. And even if said feature didn’t exist, the player could simply send a direct message to the people on their friends list. (Admittedly, that would require actual thought, something that a user of the “Invite Friends” feature likely wouldn’t be able to create, but hey.)

Also, if this “Mailbox” tricks you into thinking someone else plays the game, why in the Hell would you send a game invite to them? After all, people don’t hand out party invites at the party in question, do they? (…No, seriously, do they? I’ve never been to one. :P)

P.S. Sorry for bumping the topic after a few days, but I felt this needed to be said.

There is, actually, if you don’t want to wait for the game itself to be fixed. There’s a script that gives you a chat command to reload your game without refreshing the game’s page. If you want to try it, you can find that script here (You’ll need a non-IE browser to use it, and you may not be able to download it on your school’s computers, so if you can’t, then I’ve got nothing).

Gwen needed to do something to take her mind off of this recent development. She hasn’t really explored the area much, and it would be necessary to know the land if more of those people were going to come. So she does that.

Okay, so. There was a script I had before the chat went crazy the last time. Problem is, I can’t find it on Userscripts to redownload it. Any chance you could find and/or code it and put it in Kongregate One? Here’s how it worked.

Command: /reload game, /reload g
Action: These commands would refresh the game only, leaving the chat and the rest of the page untouched. Handy for a lot of games in case you need to get back to the main menu quickly or something.

Command: /reload chat, /reload c
Action: As above, this would basically refresh the chat, leaving the rest of the page as it was. I…don’t really see the use for this? At all? But hey, maybe someone likes it. Who knows.

Command: /reload, /reload all
Action: Refreshes the page. Just like F5 and Ctrl+R. Marginally more useful than /reload chat if your function keys are buried under an Fn key, you don’t want to use your mouse, and you don’t want to use two fingers, I guess?

I’d mainly just like that first command in. If you added that, I’d appreciate it 5ever. :D

The man really didn’t get it. Sure, it helped defend the house that time, but what if it came back when there were no attackers? Would she feed on the rest of them too? And next time, what if she didn’t regain herself? Gwen didn’t know the answers to those questions, and she was afraid.

Seconds pass before Gwen actually sees the handkerchief in his hand. She pushes it away, deciding instead to simply drink it off. Perhaps if she kept herself full, she wouldn’t become like that again.

Gwen glances up at the man (she had yet to learn names), moving her hand to her face to see what he’s talking about. Feeling the blood, her eyes grow wide. If she weren’t already incredibly pale, she’d probably become about fifteen shades lighter. As it was, she only rose up five.

She begins to mumble to herself without realizing, yet it’s loud enough for Kalvin to easily pick out what she’s saying. “But…it’s been so long since that happened…why is it starting to affect me now?”

You get the distinct impression that the internal monologue is a lot more frantic and loud than the whispers escaping her throat.

I like the reasoning for us being together. Funny how well we all fit with the forest. Kinda makes ya wonder why, other than plot reasons, we have a cottage in the first place. :P
