Pel, 50th KG Tournament THE PEL-END
Thanks again to Best, not only for this tournament but for putting the tournament scene on his back for the past year, I greatly appreciate the effort you put in.
Thoughts on finals games:
Antibody: 1,073,400. The difficulty on this one does not increase after 200k, so I set my goal for slightly above 1m hoping that anyone who does get 1m stops there. I found this game the most enjoyable of the bunch, but it quickly hurts my hands to click so fast so I took some breaks during my 1m run.
Blade Rush: 203. This game is very buggy :(. Putting bugs aside, there were lots of optimizations to be made with spawns in the right directions, which can also allow you to do cool skips involving dropping dead bodies onto alive ones to skip entire sections.
Match Girl: 201.29 . Here you can see a strategy I use to pick up speedrunning games quicker, however it only applies to level based runs (such as dangerous dungeons). This game wasn’t particularly great, but its nice to see a solid speedrunning game that hasn’t been used in a tournament before.
Drink Beer: 200. Not much to say here, took a few tries to get it capped.
Tinysasters 2: 4809. I still have no idea how to play this game well, and I’d love to see build paths for the top scores :D.
Overall I probably spent time on Blade Rush>Match Girl>Antibody>Tinysasters>Drink Beer.
The finals format, just like best’s last tournament, was one that benefits me as I picked up the games really quickly, however I do admit I probably spent the most time of the competitors on the finals.
Congrats to all the finalists for putting up great scores throughout the tournament, and although I wouldn’t mind Pel being the final sendoff to the tournament scene, I’m always willing to compete more!
