Guys SOPA...today
@Fuzzy: I believe the DNS blocking provisions are cut out.
Did they cut those? No matter. There’s already a firefox plugin to bypass it.
However, SOPA and PIPA will not stop piracy, torrenting, and more
In fact, TPB just came out and said that SOPA/PIPA wouldn’t even slow them down.
Senators and representatives have trouble differentiating IP addresses and domains
Just so you know, when they were debating SOPA (NOT PIPA, I don’t want you to confuse the House and Senate – different flavors of scumbags), the chairman of the Judiciary committee (Considered to be the most important chairmanship in the house by many) said that he didn’t need to hear from any “nerds” and that they didn’t actually know what a Domain Name Server was or did.

If you think you’re not effected by it, think again. Under this law, every single website you use on a regular basis (yes, every single one) can be shut down outside of the legal system – it essentially hands an internet killswitch to the entertainment industry.
DNS spoofing (what they want to use) is incredibly easy to bypass, even still, but the fact that they want to do it at all is just scary.
im hearing everywhere its today?(and somehow i knew you were a mod even though i never knew who you were)
No, the protest blackout/mass calling is today. It wouldn’t make much sense to do that when they were too busy voting to listen to us.

It’s actually PIPA and no they aren’t. That’s next week :P
Anyhoo, for those who are interested, go here to get in touch with your senators.

The president has promised to veto it, but The Congress can then veto override (use ctrl+s before the black page appears to read). It will then be up to the Supreme Court. Hopefully those people knows what they are doing, unlike The Congress.
There’s a bit of javascript you can slap onto the end of the URL to stop the redirect, or just stop the automatic reload manually.

Damn thing is bloody useless for me. Play on Master and it takes like 30 hits to kill anything (and thus proc). I died for 20 minutes straight to falmers on my Ord Sword and Board warrior learning this, and haven’t bothered to get it since (on 4th character, other 3 all at level 50+).

help requested
Honestly? See a doctor. Sometimes, untreated toothaches can be deadly in a very short time period (less than a month). It’s not something to mess around with, and if it’s still hurting a day after it started you need to go see a doctor.

BC and BCE
I would greatly luv to know what exactly IS this “sensitivity”.
Given that a lot of non-Christians, and especially atheists, don’t even believe Jesus existed at all, naming the dating system after him seems a mite silly, no? Regardless of your religious beliefs, I think we can all agree that scientists should not agree to use something that isn’t even remotely confirmed, in this case, the year of Jesus’ birth as the common point for all dating?
What would happen if, tomorrow, new research came out definitely proving that Christ was born in the year 4? Would we make this 2007? (edit: New year’s is tomorrow, derp) If we don’t, can we really say it’s “Before Christ”? After all, if Jesus’ birth isn’t actually the basis for the year’s notation, should we be saying it is?
It makes more sense, to, in academic circles, go with something concrete and provable – in this case, that the year 0 was, in fact, year 0 and leave it at that. If not – academia is useless, as they can collectively agree to support lies and the faith and usefulness of learning will be polluted (and get away with it). And from that, of course, one would expect to see it spill into schooling, as we ask academics to handle the bulk of our teaching – so it’s silly to wonder why it’s showing up in schoolbooks.

RIP Christopher Hitchens
Oh Christopher, you had me at hello.
His words are infectious to say the least.
“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
This has been a huge influence in my life. That one statement alone helped me see through the tangled web of lies that was my religious upbringing.
“The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more.”
And here, I’ve never met someone who better describes my view of life than Hitchens, save, perhaps, Carl Sagan.
“Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the ‘transcendent’ and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.”
Good advice for anyone.
“_What do you most value in your friends?_ Their continued existence.”
I’d never seen this one before, but now… wow. Truthiness, this statement has it.
And here’s a whole bunch more.

Anyone else watching Congress decide on SOPA?
So, what now?
Eat ice cream and cry. If we do anything else we get labeled terrorists and locked up.
