Topic: Rise of Champions / Shop is worthless for Free Players

I think that you’re underestimating the usefulness of buying essence for rerolls and, at higher levels, custom-enchantment equipment. I also think it would be odd to add a second option to spend gold to gain random items, since that’s exactly what the treasure expeditions are.

Burn them down with a mage and rogue; burn damage ignores defences.
Use Intimidate, Slash Face, Set Up, Gut for massive damage.
Poison; they can’t buff without stamina.

Our solution will be something similar to this. We don’t want to punish players who have connection problems or who experience a client error so there needs to be some tolerable amount of disconnects, but players who habitually disconnect will be punished, likely by receiving no rewards/xp from their battles for a certain period of time or maybe even a temporary suspension if they are particularly abusive.

As one with the mentioned connection problems, I appreciate that.

They rarely pop up at the start of a match, more often during, but it does happen.

In addition, it’s fully possible for warriors to have enough armor to make the boss’ Annihilate practically useless. Take out the surrounding pylons, and you can get to a point where you can’t lose, even if it does take a while to win.

Topic: War of Omens / How does Tome of Memory work?

Right. You can hold up to one additional card in your hand but still draw the 3 cards you always do, just like how if you have no cards in hand you still only draw 3 cards. Having a single Tome out would allow you to have 2 cards in hand and still draw 3 to reach the new maximum of 5; normally having 2 cards in hand would let you draw only 2 cards because you reach the normal maximum of 4 cards.

That is almost certainly because different cost cards are counted as two separate cards. Misinformation (Cost 4), Misinformation (Cost 5), and Misinformation (Cost 6) are all removed separately; remove Cost 4, and Cost 5 will still be in the bank.

Topic: War of Omens / Odd Glitch

It’s not a glitch. Well, not fully at least. When purchasing, the first thing that happens is that you spend the money and it generates the three cards to pick from. If a communication error occurs here, the money isn’t spent, because the servers never got the request. If you’ve already seen the cards, the purchase is “on record” as it were, so if it gets interrupted here, the next time you open the shop you’re asked to decide which of the cards you get.

The fact that the pack that appears to open is the gem pack is probably a glitch though, yeah.

Topic: War of Omens / Intercepting?!?

Um…? I’m not sure where you’re getting this from; Intercept works just fine for all of the colours. Green walls still randomly scatter damage; Allies intercept in the same priority as before. Shepherd still cancels attacks, and the new Outrider can Intercept damage just fine. Mislead and Frame are as irritating as ever. The Purple blockers work exactly the same as before, except for Golem which actually got cheaper. The only thing that changed is Whispered Barbs got more expensive and can ignore Intercept. That isn’t anywhere near enough to say that it’s impossible to protect allies.

Topic: War of Omens / Harder for New Players to Start?

More expensive packs with fewer colours would also speed up more veteran players, as oppose to just helping new players get acclimatised. The second, I’m not sure that hero first, cards after is a good change; new players could still get “lucky” and get a hero right away, leading to the same problem of having too many cards to choose from, and it makes it difficult to begin trying out any new factions released (for instance, I spent over 15k to unlock the purple hero, but at least I had a number of upgraded cards gathered along the way so I could immediately begin trying it out.

It seems to me that completing the tutorials for each colour, and having the reward be enough common cards (or relevant upgrade progress/xp if they have a copy) from said colour to make a deck, would do a great deal to ease new players into the game. New Players could immediately get a handle on the basic strategies for the colour (for instance, not buying everything in the blue bank at once to increase odds of getting your better/more critical cards), ad would let them begin experimenting with their own decks, at least once they unlock a relevant hero. Maybe unlock the other tutorials when a hero for the relevant colour is unlocked; not a lot of point in learning Blue if you can’t actually use them yet after all.

Topic: War of Omens / Endazu text bug

The cards are identical to the permanent cards played immediately, with the exception of being destroyed upon being removed from the field in any way. It’s less a typo and more expediency, so you have an idea of what the card does without needing to have seen it in action before.

Topic: War of Omens / Leper Abilities Inconsistent?

Indeed. Lepers just attack back against what immediately damaged them. Especially fun is using Infighting to completely wipe all the Lepers on the field, as they all attack each other, retaliate, retaliate for the retaliation…

Topic: War of Omens / Catapult bug

It’s also a consequence of all the damage happening at once; rather than “Attack Attack Attack,” it’s Attack x3 at the same time. It’s especially evident with cases like playing a Orphan Gang with Overseers on the field, and getting return damage. I think my record is 8 attacks from two Lepers and the return attacks from the hero, against the same 1 health orphan.

Topic: War of Omens / Cutpurse

Is it intentional that if there are multiple Cutpurses on the field, that the opponent can steal more than the resource you just acquired? I was in a game and the opponent had 3, and by chance 2 of them activated on the same Coin I played; I had 2 coin resources before I played the Coin, and 1 after. This seems like a bug, but I’m not sure if it is or not.

Topic: War of Omens / Arsenic bug

Indeed. As a consequence, Arsenics quickly become incredibly damaging; 1 gets 1 damage per turn, 2 gets 4, 3 gets 9…

If the intention is for Loan to be affected, then it’s still an AI issue if the enemy is playing Coordinate only to increase the Loan timer.

After 3 days I didn’t think about that way, too… play a little bit longer. You don’t see many new decks anymore, you just lose to the same maxed cards over and over again and can do NOTHING against it. Your chance is 0%! Not even 0.1%, it is really 0%. Seems pretty fun, that I could matched against the most stupid peoples with enougn money and have 0% chance to win :/
I also don’t know why this is poor sportsmanship? I think I am a really good loser, I often look for mistakes I made and see when the opponent just outplayed me. But that is just not given in this game most of the time! A fair match that is. I don’t even see if he played better, because he would have won even if 6year old would have played with those cards.

My sympathies for horrible luck then. I’ve managed to win roughly half of my multiplayer matches. The poor sportsmanship was in regard to automatically quitting; you can still see the match through, and occasionally you can get lucky with bank draws.

Nope, not a “difference”. But that sentence was a disappointing way to disregard people who you decided had an incomplete view from your own conceited belief.

The language was harsher than my norm because I was responding primarily to the OP, who describes the experience as “shit” and “bullshit,” as well as threatening to instantly quit matches where he sees banks full of upgraded cards. In this case I feel quite comfortable describing our viewpoints as different; I still view it as a net positive experience, especially when strategy and careful play manages to win over more upgraded decks filled with maxed cards and special coins, while the OP has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t. It wasn’t my intent to be offensive, and I apologise for that.

I agree that the matchmaking could be better. I disagree that it makes enough of a difference to merit profanity and poor sportsmanship.
