Why are people hating on Koreans
Originally posted by yes12345678:
Actually, North Koreans are well aware that-

- South Korea has better living standards than them.
The KCNA keeps censoring and limiting the their media, so rebel groups are almost non-existent due to limited knowlege if there actually are any.
The NK’s Great Leader is like an eternal god in their beliefs. Even if you ask the North Korean citizens (especially the defectors) of the state of their country in public, they would say that it is fine. But for the defectors, there is a tremendous amount of difference on their accounts. The North Korean citizens are not to blame, but the Kim regime is the problem.
If there was a revolution that started in NK itself, you could see major amounts of KPA soldiers (50-85%) would defect to the rebels. But if the revolution was American influenced, the NK would be more than happy to clean the toilets than join them because of what was taught to them about Americans in their school days.
However, Kim has the liberty to declare any revolution American influenced. In fact, they were already doing this long ago.
By the way, why defectors are called defectors, not refugees?

Draconavin, please explain how media can gain maximum profit by doing what you suggested. As far as I know, although the media bear some social responsibility, they aren’t charity organizations. If they really listened to you, they would likely lose much audience.
The root of all evil kicks in again.

Global Climate Change - Get off our lazy butts!
Global warming (data) is not a theory. The anthropic model (mechanism) is.
Besides that data is open to interpretation and statistics is the third kind of lies, global warming is actually an extrapolation of a curve. Yes, the curve may be at an all-time high, but we won’t know if it will drop back down like it did before.
“Nobody except somebody said X.” Ergo, somebody said X. It was precisely because of dd790’s post that I made mine.
Besides that you have used plural nouns in your previous post, namely, people and guys, you are encouraged to define your second person pronouns (aka “you”) by using the “quote post” button or the blockquote function.

Nepotism In Western Media
Well, you seldom see a bomb in the US, and that’s a rare scenario. People dying in Middle East is just… unsurprising.
On the bright side, when you learn about a 40-death bombing somewhere, it already gets enough coverage as interested audience does get the information. SE Asia Muslim Terrorism, Turkish assault on the Kurds, Burmese assault on northern tribes, Latin American hell, just to name a few. An example may be the facebook beheading video uproar. While it is reported that a woman is beheaded because of adultery, I don’t think a man would shout out gang names before executing his cheating wife. Something is amiss among the media.

Global Climate Change - Get off our lazy butts!
Originally posted by HolyLasagna:
There is a gigantic scientific consensus that not only global warming is happening, as it is most likely mainly due to our behavior. We have to face this problem.
I just don’t get why people keep doubting the scientific consensus without knowing jack-shit about the subject, nor have a very good reason to do so. Why is it that every single peer reviewed research tells us we are causing global warming, yet people just keep deying it? Seriously, the amount of evidence that people should at least reconsider their positions. It’s overwhelming.
Please guys, reconsider your positions. Look ONLY at the facts, and see what truth the facts bear out. Pretty please?
Firstly, scientifically proven theories AREN’T facts nor truths. 300 years ago, all empirical evidence and mathematical workings were in favor of Newton’s “absolute spacetime”. Now we all heard of relativity which slammed Newton in the face.
But before we go in depth about epistemology… I can tell you that except dd790’s post, nobody here has doubted the truthfulness of global warming. Thanks for the links though.

Gun Issues
You all should really stop arguing with people who won’t accept or even consider your points. When you know that others won’t accept your point but you still preach to them, what you want is to reinforce your own opinion and ridicule the opposing opinion. This kind of “arguments” will not produce any truths or fruitful thoughts in general.
So please, stop this meaningless crap already. Aren’t you tired of tens of pages of arguments that repeat and repeat and repeat itself over and over again? Aren’t you tired of this?
Why you guys bothered to feed the troll in your eyes is beyond me, way beyond me.
EDIT: I know this post is not making any point either, but well, when I see that this thread is bumped to the top, I often think to myself, “There will be worthwhile discussion now. There will.” However, when I enter the thread, what I see is just crap and more crap. This thread should not be bumped unless you have something good to say, please. Treat this post like a resolution to your disputes and no offense intended.
tl;dr just f*cking agree to disagree, d*mn.

Does God exists? and why?
I wouldn’t go that far. There’s evidence of his existence, as a gestalt entity. Not as an individual being. A parasite literally using the minds of true believers as neurons in an overmind. It is still a being, just one with a tricky definition of a mind.
Perhaps I missed it but could you restate how God, as a collective entity of believers’ minds, can be an independent “being” who can also act independently?

Agreed. Religion is not something you can reason with, nor you need to reason with. Just lock it. Religion and God does not belong to Serious Discussion, because we won’t find the truth even after a myriad pages of online debate.
