Evolution; scientific fact or believed by faith?
In response to Wizidon: PLEASE read the link I posted. http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/7831/evoluti…
Micro and Macro evolution is a distinction not made by actual scientists. We have observed speciation, thus we have observed evolution.

This movie (Along with the rest of the ID movement) is nothing but a combination of outright lies, distortions, quote mining, and false appeals to “teaching the controversy”. Evolution has more overwhelming evidence then many of the facts you believe in your day to day life.
Evolution is science, good science backed up with overwhelming evidence from multiple fields of science.
Creationism aka ID is a poor ideology with no factual basis in reality, nor any evidence in support of it, from numerous fields of science.
If you believe in ID, congratulations, for you have rejected reason, logic, and evidence.
You CAN be a Christian and understand and accept evolution. See the other thread on evolution for details.

There are a whole lot of bad reasons to reject homosexuals their basic human rights, and a complete lack of good reasons.

Dinosaurs, carnivores, and the Bible
"And evolution has a lot more holes in it than most atheists want to admin." Incorrect. Go educate yourself please. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsWAjvQSgAlso anyone who tries to equate evolution with atheism clearly is uninformed on the topic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnJX68ELbAYAlso from what an Orthodox Christian on another forum so eloquently said: "Origen was the first guy to really write a lot on a metaphorical Creation account, "the history having taken place in appearance and not literally." He and his colleagues "found fault" with those who took the six days literally. This was 225 to 235 AD. Augustine, recognized across all boundaries of Christianity as one of the most important and inspiring Church fathers, wrote "The Literal Intepretation of Genesis" in 408 AD and "The City of God" in 419 AD. In both, he argued for a metaphorical Creation account. He claimed that the days we measure by sunrise and sunset recall Creation days without at all being regarded as similar to them. He explained that the Creation days are so profoundly mysterious that they're difficult or even impossible to conceive of. He is often quoted by fans of both Christ and an old Earth, like myself, as saying, "It is disgraceful, ruinous, and greatly to be avoided, that [a non-Christian] should hear a Christian speaking so idiotically on these [scientific] matters (as if [the Christian's] views were in accord with Christian writings) and might say that he could scarcely keep from laughing when he saw how totally in error they are." In other words, Augustine implies that if you take the Creation account literally, you're wrong (both scientifically and as an interpreter of Scripture), and if you continue to tell people that the Bible says 1 + 1 = 3, you're going to make people scoff at the Gospel. EDIT: On the whole Palin thing. Teaching the "controversy" is just as bad. It is cognitive dissonance of the highest level. There is no coherent debate, and would be the equivalent of teaching alchemy alongside chemistry. "

“Palin didn’t try to remove evolution books from libraries. Either cite your source or stop spreading false internet rumors. She has publicly stated that she supports teaching evolution in schools. Stop making crap up.”
I did not say this, but she supports teaching both. That is the problem. Creationism should not be taught period.

This topic is silly. Any literal interpretation of Genesis is bound to fail. Evolution is a more solidly proven fact then many other facts you take as true in your lives. Creationism is false.

Flickering Movie Clips
I am having an incredibly frustrating error in a Flash game I am creating.
Basically, the problem is this:
Whenever I open my game, and either go to test the game or publish, several of the movieclips will constantly flicker from visible to invisible, for apparently no reason.
It appears to happen only with movieclips within movieclips, however that is not the weirdest part.
If in the library, I click into the movieclip that is flickering, when I once again test the movie, the flickering is gone. Yet every time I re-open flash the flickering error returns.
I am thoroughly confused, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am using Flash 8.

[Kongai] Card game FAQ - Please read before making a thread
Hey Xanthus! While I cannot say for sure, I believe this is due to the game constantly evolving as the cards have been released. While for example the first few cards showed all of the abilities and had different colors, this has been changed as the style of the cards in general has changed. I suspect that when the card game is released these differences will be cleared up and the cards will all have uniform styles and wordings.

[Kongai] Card game FAQ - Please read before making a thread
Quick question how are items gonna play into the game?
On Items
Each character has the option to equip one item going into the battle. These items will confer the bonus listed on the card to the character (such as the current item which regains energy upon successfully intercepting). Each character set has a corresponding item set that contains items available only to those characters. For example: Cain would be able to equip the Gem of Souls but not the Sacred Candle.
In addition to these items, there are other items that we currently believe are available for all characters to use.
Hope that helps!

Portal: The Standalone
Just buy the orange box, its only the freaking deal of the century! Seriously Portal is one of the best, and superbly designed games I have played. It is worth the purchase. Also while it would be hypocritical of me to frown on downloading; I personally believe that you should download the bad titles, but put out the cash for quality games such as portal where the devs should be rewarded for making a unique and enjoyable experience.
Also to anyone out that there hasnt played Portal, you are not a gamer, go play it now!
Anyway, thats my 2 cents.

world of warcraft awsome or not
WoW is a great game in that it is very appealing to a large amount of people, and is good at bringing people into the game and keeping them there. What WoW is bad at, is an incredibly boring grind that essentially trades in poor gameplay for a constant stream of rewards. I personally played WoW, simply because most of my friends did, but have since quit. (I really hated the grind)
As a prior top level Guild Wars player, PvP in WoW is something of a joke as well.
I am really hoping that Age of Conan or Warhammer are able to offer a more rewarding MMO experience. I really enjoy the community aspect of MMOs but hate the grind and how th mechanics reward time over skill.

Homosexual Marriage
It is incredible saddening to realize that America is so behind on such a basic human rights issue as homosexual marriage. The fact that many of our citizens would vote solely for one party, simply because of their illogical fear of two men getting married…. is pathetic.

Global Warming
Mils, seriously? There is an enormous difference in scope of what you are arguing about. How are we limiting ourselves by not killing elephants??? A wolf has to kill a deer to survive, we don’t have to kill species on a massive scale (or at all mostly) to survive. I’m wondering how serious your last argument was, because it more then a little bit absurd. No animal has the sheer power that we have to do anything, ESPECIALLY cause extinction. shakes head

“Uggh… Oh, even MORE irony… ” I don’t think that word means what you think it means. :P
I think every other point was covered by the others that posted.
Although I just did think of something. Mils (and i hate to single you out, but it seems you are the only one still debating your side) I believe you are still in school correct? Go up to your science teacher and ask him/her about global warming, see what they have to say. If you can convince them that Michael Crichton somehow knows more about climate change then actual climate scientists, then i’ll take your side.

My thoughts on future automated user moderation
That isn’t a half bad idea, have mods votes be weighted to be worth more. There could also be penalties for groups silencing a mod. For example is a user mod gets silenced, he could screen shot what happened and take it to a higher mod. They could revoke it and then make it so everyone in the group loses th ability to silence for example.
