Topic: Red Crucible / The AK74u

Hello Community,

The previously announced change to the level progression weapons is now in game.

The Ak74u has been replaced with the D-18. The D-18 is an automatic pistol.

The Ak74u is now in the store for 300 coins or 30k Honor Points. ( yes this means that if you bought extras you can sell them for 30k honor during the free exchange week.)

Topic: Red Crucible / Major Changes to the Weapon system ( Take 2)

Hello Community,
As usual lately I have a lot of announcements. The Free Exchange weekend should start around 5pm PST. Also we have addressed the Snipers now. Snow ball Cannon, Patriot, MG3, MG36, Pain Killer, and M16c have all been adjusted as well. Demolition weapons will not be further changed (other than the mobility changes already made) until after firestorm, to accommodate the new vehicle system.

One other major change coming very soon is that we are moving the AK74u out of the level Progression and replacing it with a automatic pistol called the Dragon. We will not be removing the AK74u from the game, it will become an Primary Assault Weapon. This change will occur on Wednesday Sept 10th.

We have also changed the Double Dz to fully automatic pistols with a 1 second slower reload speed (3 to 4, same as the Dual Uzi’s).

Topic: Red Crucible / Major Changes to the Weapon system ( Take 2)

Good Day Community,

We have been working tirelessly to make some further adjustments to the weapon balance. Before we get into the specifics I would like to go over our thought process. We are standardizing our weapon system by caliber and category of the weapon. What this means is damage will be the same for all guns of the same caliber. In fact most of the statistics of our guns like Fire Rate, Reload Speed, and Range will be standard to the type of gun and caliber.

Our new philosophy on Premium Weapons will start to be more like what we did with the Vortex.
Bronze Quality – Will be what we consider standard.
Silver Quality – Similar to bronze in that things like Fire Rate, Range, and Damage will not change, but it will have a better sight, and 2-4% better accuracy and Recoil.
Gold Quality – Will have 3-5% better Accuracy and Recoil than the Silver. Also another attachment, a better skin, and better capacity.

Basically what you are paying for when you pay for the higher quality is better recoil, accuracy and cooler attachments. In other words ease of use, is what we are going for. We are going with this system because its is fair to all players in that a player playing with a bronze will still kill other players in the same amount of shots, at the same range and speed than a player using a gold version. However a gold version will be easier to use.

Now understand that category is also a factor. For instance Sniper Rifles will all be 99% or 100% accuracy, so recoil is going to be a big factor, the Snipers that kill in one shot are going to have higher recoil, and the ones that take multiple will have much lower. This wont show up as much in the statistics, but Snipers are a very fine tuned weapon, and therefore the differences may look small but will be very important.

The pictures below only encompass the Assault, Support, Pistol, and Sub Machine Gun categories. All we are changing currently on Sniper Rifles is the Mobility, and Capacity. We will be addressing them more in the near future. In the Demolition category, we have only adjusted the mobility, and will also be addressing them more in the near future as well.
One change not listed below is that the Cobra will be moving to a 700m Range.

Topic: Red Crucible / A few words on the future of the weapon balance

Hello Community,
It me again your friendly Community Manager, here with the news I promised you. We have watched the community feedback very closely and have had many meetings as a team to decide what our next steps will be.

The first thing I want to talk about is what I am calling “The Exchange Week”. Starting next Monday September 8th, and lasting until the following Monday September 15th. We will be making pretty much all the guns except the collectibles, purchasable for Honor Points. We will also be making pretty much everything gun in the game sellable for 100% of its Honor Point value. What we are hoping to promote with this, is the idea that you can go out and try pretty much anything in the game for that week. Test all the guns, find new favorites, create new loadouts. We will still be adjusting weapons during that time I believe, so you will be able to try out pretty much anything and tell us what you think.

As part of this communication we would like to spend a little time explaining our design philosophy and detailing out the parameters for the weapons moving forward. To do that I will now refer to our Design Director.
__________________________________________________________

Greetings RC Community,

I would like to start off by saying thank you for your patience and constructive feedback during the initial rollout of the weapon balance. We hear your concerns and we are addressing them or will address them at some point throughout the process. That being said, I would like to apologize to all the players who feel wronged by the way we handled our weapons and vehicle integration in the past. We plan to make it up to the players who have invested their money and time into this game, by doubling the level Honor Points and having double Experience/Honor Point weekends leading up to the release of RCF.

As for the new update, we “WILL” be moving forward with the changes being made to the game as previously stated in other posts. We will “NOT” be reverting back to Red Crucible 2 pre update. We know that this changes the pacing of the game significantly, but it is moving in the direction we originally intended before the first introduction of the LE weapons. We need the community to move forward with us to the next evolution of Red Crucible. That being said, how we move forward will require help from our community. In past updates from previous months, we made changes without including your input. I can say with certainty that we will include you in our development process from now on. This means we would like your constructive feedback documented and backed by play testing and hard data.

We have several passes planned for weapon balancing over the next few weeks with fine tuning all the way to the release of Red Crucible Firestorm (RCF). In regards to the balance and philosophy behind the change, I get asked the same questions everyday, “Accident why did you change my mobility?” Well the answer is that we changed the mobility to slow the pacing down and fix bugs being caused by abnormally fast mobility. Players flying through the air with katana/reaper/duel uzi loadout were simply frustrating to “ALL” players on the receiving end. This issue also limited the loadouts to only a select few weapon combinations, leaving the rest of the weapons to collect dust (Now pistols will be an effective fast reload, fast fire rate option in the game). So to change this, we will be removing the mobility from the weapons and moving them to a class system.

Assault will have the fastest mobility at 85, followed by Demo with 82, Sniper with 80 and Support with 78 (20% increase with use of speed boosts). In addition to this, we have separated each class of weapon into several categories: Close Range, Mid Range, Long Range and Demo weapons. While we are not removing the ability to have multiple loadouts, we will be removing the ability to switch to different classes during a round (One class per death then you can switch).

The new stat system will be based on caliber of the bullet. Smaller rounds like the SMG’s and pistols have faster rates, less damage and less range. The larger caliber rounds will have smaller fire rates, more damage greater range and substantial recoil. I think that players are getting confused by the stats and comparing Groza to Reaper when really they are apples and oranges, for example, one is mid-range the other is close range. This was a huge problem in the pre update because one LE had all these stats maxed out. Which again led to no variety, but only the use of the same weapon loadouts. In regards to the Groza-M and why it was balanced so harshly, it is because it was one of those multi-guns smg/mid/long range weapon. The reality is the Groza-M has the base of an AK so it has the similar fire rate of one.

If you compare the stats of the Groza M and the M4 spec ops currently in the game they are very similar and should compare because of the similar caliber bullets and fire rates. The difference is in the attachments, capacity, optics and look of the gun. Numbers wise they are very similar.

In regards to premium weapons, we are still fine tuning numbers to the premium weapons compared to the unlock weapons. The difference in stats will be up to 10% in these categories: accuracy, recoil, capacity, fire rate, and range. Keep in mind that the value to all the features are currently not in game at the moment. Capacity for example is not a huge factor, but it will be in RCF. Optics are not really seen as a value in the stats, but they greatly enhance your target acquisition and accuracy. A silencer does not have a value associated with it in stats, but you are invisible to radar. Vanity, well who doesn’t like a sexy looking gun?

Now keep in mind we are still fine tuning these values and we have not addressed the Snipers and Demolition weapons, so please be patient. This game was not made in a day and this balance cannot be fixed in one day. I want to make it clear to the community that you do have a voice in this, so please give us your feedback. We have already addressed several player found issues regarding the weapons, so please keep the feedback coming. Thank you for the read and your continued support of Red Crucible.

See you in game,

As we get into next week we will be publishing a document to the community detailing the categories that make up our weapons stats, and showing where we consider the minimums and maximums are for different categories. This document once finalized will be where we start from when designing a new gun. As we said in the beginning, this will be an ongoing process, and we certainly appreciate all of the constructive feed back we have gotten.

One thing I want to make sure the community understands, We are listening and we do care. We are trying to create a game that will be fun for everyone who plays it, and will be around for a long time. All “living games” go through periods of adjustment, even World of Warcraft, a multi-billion dollar company with hundreds of employees is going through a complete overhaul of their item system, changing literally thousands of items. So don’t give up on us, we want the same thing you do…

To play a fun game with our friends.

Sincerely,

Topic: Red Crucible / A quick note from the Developers

Hello Community,

After listening and sorting through the player feedback, we have had many team meetings and have come up with a few things.

Later on today we will be publishing a much more detailed letter from the development team to the community with a wealth of information about some corrections being made to the Weapon Balance, also we will be detailing our design philosophy moving forward and explaining the methodology behind our new design system.

Also we will be announcing the details of a sell back program that should help compensate players, and/or allow them to try a variety of new guns ( after we have made some final changes).

One of the major things we will be addressing in detail is the premium gun value issue. I wont go into much more detail here, but that line is being adjusted. Never again will it be as over powered as it was before, but we have heard the player feed back concerning that line being currently so small as to not provide value.

To those of you who have taken our advice and kept an open mind, and helped us in this process, thank you so very much. Your passion for our game truly means the world to us.

Topic: Red Crucible / Weapon balancing? BS!

Hello Community,
Bear with me as I attempt to answer as many of these Kongregate forum topics as possible.

We definitely understand that any major change in a game can be extremely scary to the community, and we sympathize with that. We felt however that if we did not change the way the weapons played our game would start to really suffer. We have been listening to the feed back from the community since we released the weapon changes and the primary thing we are getting from the community is a lack of value on the Premium guns. Other issues we are seeing are centered around specific guns like the Cobra, M14, M4, Enforcer, and magnum, and we have already taken steps to correct those.

Every player is going to have their own opinions about the specific stats of each and every gun, especially their favorite gun. We as developers want to hear that feedback and find the best middle ground we can that both makes the game fun for the maximum amount of players.

As to the lack of value for previous, and future purchased Premium weapons. That is something we are re-examining as a team. Regardless of how we move forward in that regard, starting next week there will be a sort of exchange program put in for about a week, but I will have more information on that in another post specifically aimed at that subject.

As to constructive feedback concerning the new weapons system, we have set up a Google form, where we can gather information specifically about that subject and we very much want to hear from you. The link to that form is:
