Topic: Red Crucible / Our plan for the future.

Community! I hope everyone is as excited as I am with our recent updates. In our ramp up to Firestorm we’ve been trying to make as many improvements to the game, and to our company, that we can. One of the things that we hope to improve is the way we communicate our updates and future plans to you, the community. To help with that, I want to take a little time to let you know what our vision is for Red Crucible going forward, and also share some of the things we have planned to do to achieve that vision.

Our goal, above all others, is to make a game that is fun and engaging; a game where skill and teamwork matter. One of the first things we want to do to help improve the game is balancing the weapons, as some of you may have heard. A major part of that balancing will have to do with slowing down the pace of the game play. We’ve realized that things have gotten out of hand with some of the speeds and boosts currently available to the game. This does not mean that all weapons will be the same, there will be some faster than others like now, however the overall pace of the game will be more realistic and encourage more strategic game play.

With Firestorm, we will be making significant changes to the way our arenas are setup, again to encourage more strategic game play and improve the flow of the levels. Our goal is to have arenas and game modes that discourage things like spawn camping and instead encourage skillful competition. Another system coming with Firestorm to encourage that kind of game play is our new limited resource system. In short, limited resources means that all guns will have a set amount of ammo. After so many reloads, you will be out and have to either switch to your secondary, or find an ammo dump at a strategic point in the arena.

After Firestorm we will continue to improve systems to even further encourage players to work together. We are planning to implement a class based system for infantry combat. This system will give different roles and functions for team members and add a new level of strategy to the game. Firestorm will also bring big changes to our vehicle system. We want vehicles to be a more integrated part of the game, so we are working to balance them and adjust vehicle arenas for more interesting vehicle combat. Vehicles will also use the limited resource system, with vehicle supply depots to restock your ammo reserves.

This is a very broad overview of some of our current plans. It is our hope that by sharing these plans you, the community, can make better sense of the changes as they happen. As we get closer to each of these updates, we will be sharing much more specific details. We realize that you may have question, and are happy to answer what we can, but know that we will not be giving out very specific details about updates until we are closing to their release. We will, however, do our best to keep you informed of our direction so that, together, we can make this game great.

Topic: Red Crucible / New way of selling Limited Edition Weapons

Hello Community,

You will notice today when we put out the new Limited Edition Weapon that we have changed the way we are selling these guns.

We are moving to a new system of Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Bronze – Will be the base model for the gun. It will be a good gun available for Coins or Honor.

Silver – This version will have a few attachments and possibly a different texture. This version will be available for slightly more coins or honor.

Gold – This version will have all the stuff the previous versions have and possibly more attachments. It will be available for the highest amount of coins but will also be available for honor.

The guns will be made available in Base Camp before going on sale. We are trying this method of selling the limited edition weapons to appeal to players of all types. We know in the past the choice was simply to spend money on a weapon or not to, and we hope with this method players will know they have a choice on how much they want to spend and get a great value for their choice.

Topic: Red Crucible / Major Changes to the game

Hello Community,

As previously announced we will be instituting the new level progression today. We feel this will make for a more fun gaming experience by giving the lower level areas more time to get used to the game, and will greatly reduce the amount of time upper level players need to grind to get to the top.

Also we would like to announce that next week we will be instituting a large weapon balance. We will be balancing around 50 guns. This will be a first pass of improvements aimed at making the game more fun, and more competitive. This will not be the last time we balance the guns and definitely want community feedback on the changes as they happen.

Our Design Director has a few words on what he is trying to achieve with the changes…..

In an effort to be more transparent to our fans, we have decided to keep the players more informed of the changes coming in the future iterations of the game. These changes will not happen overnight, so this process will be updated in phases and we will give you at least a week to get you prepared for the changes to come.

That being said, I have some exciting news to announce today. Our plan moving forward with Red Crucible Firestorm (RCF) will require a much needed rebalance of “ALL” existing weapons in game.

What does this mean? It is very simple. We are taking the super overpowered weapons and the under powered unlock weapons and adjusting the stats so the gap between these weapons is not as severe.

We all know this is a big issue and I found myself using these weapons to capitalize on underpowered weapons on more than one occasion. This will no longer be an issue moving forward. RCF will be a team oriented skill based game relying on your ability to play and communicate, not your overpowered wonder weapon.

You still get to keep your LE or Collectible weapon with upgraded stats, they just will not be ridiculously overpowered. The goal here is to give players more options via variety of weapons to fill secondary and tertiary weapon voids and breathe life into those unused weapons. This will be a low cost option for those with smaller pocket books who save their honor points for boosts, gear and rainy days. This will also allow players to fine tune their loadouts to specific maps with just the right amount of weapon variety to keep it fresh.

These changes will slow the pacing down a bit and make the game feel more grounded in reality, which is the direction we want to take RCF. We’ve made adjustments in RCF to work in tandem with our new weapon balance plan which is moving along as planned for release sometime at the end of October or early November. To ensure all the mechanics are in line with the new release, it’s in the best interests of the game that we move forward with the weapon changes pre-release of RCF.

Remember, we also want a better and balanced game that you’ve been screaming for, and I promise that we will get there. So please be patient, and thank you for your continued support of Red Crucible.

So many things to talk about, so lets get started. As you know we are moving the Dual Uzi’s and Panzer Pistol to Primary weapons today.
Both weapons will be able to be sold for 100,000 honor for the next 2 weeks.
We understand that this change is frustrating to a portion of the player base, but we feel that it is a needed change for the health of the game.

Our next big announcement is that we are improving the Level progression of the game.Our Current Level progression and the changes are as follows:

As you can see this is a significant change to over all system, as it my take a little more time between levels, but in the end will require much less over all experience in the end. This change should occur at the end of this current week.

Our third change is that we will be changing the Mini-gun. We will be changing it to bring it line with a much more fair and balanced weapon system. We will also be increasing the power of a few other under powered guns during the same update. I will have more information on this soon and will put it in its own announcement. This change will take at least a week, but as soon as I have a specific date I will let the players know.

My last announcement is that the grenades are now working as intended.

Hello Community,

What an exciting day! So much passion and opinion expressed. Some appropriately and some not, but at least it shows us that you really do care.
That being said, a lot of things will be changing as we get closer to Firestorm. Even more stuff will change with Firestorm. If you guys are
gonna get into this heated of a debate every time we change something, I think we are all going to end up very tired.

On to the guns in question specifically the Dual Uzi’s and Panzer. We have decided to do a couple of things to compensate the players on this issue.
We will be making the Dual Uzi’s available to sell for 100,000 Honor for the next 2 weeks. During this time they will NOT be purchasable.
This should allow players with multiple guns to exchange them for other LE’s. Also we will be making the Wolverine purchasable for honor.

To answer your next question, the Mobility on the Dual UZI’s will be 90% and the Mobility on the Panzer will be 85%.

Most of this will take effect on Monday, August 18th at 12:00pm PST

Also I want to reiterate that we encourage and appreciate constructive, maturely stated feedback. I personally will debate calmly and rationally with
the community as much as I possibly can. However personal attacks, cursing, and general rudeness will no longer be tolerated at all.

Topic: Red Crucible / Gun Changes

Hello Community,

We have recently made a few changes to some guns and are going to make a few more later today, so I just wanted to take a bit of time to tell you about these changes.

We recently improved the Shotgun and the Scorpion. The Shotgun was given 2 more shells and a faster reload time. Tee Scorpion was given more accuracy and a lower recoil.

In addition we are changing 2 more guns today, the Panzer Pistol and the Dual Uzi’s. We are not currently changing any of the stats on either gun, we are just moving them to primary weapons slot.

Our Design Director feels that these weapons are to powerful for secondary weapons, and has made this change for the health of the game.

We recently hired a new Design Director and he has a few words he would like to share with you.

Greetings Red Crucible Community,

I am the new Design Director here at Rocketeer Games. Our team is working diligently towards the release of Red Crucible Firestorm (RCF) and beyond. We hear your concerns and we are going to tackle these issues over the next few milestones. Our main goal here at Rocketeer is to make RCF one of the premium browser FPS/Vehicle games online. Since we are a very small independent studio, all of the new features that we are planning to introduce will be released in phases.

This will ensure that the content is at it’s optimum for each release. Most of you have already seen these changes in our trailers, and we are very excited to get this release out the door so you can start playing. We will be doing an official press release with the detailed changes, so keep an eye on the RC facebook page. On behalf of our team here and abroad, we thank you for your patience and continued support of Red Crucible.

Topic: Red Crucible / Where did the double XP go?

Actually we have no problem with players getting 100,000 HP, in fact we encourage it. To us that means a player has dedicated a lot of time and love to our game. which is why we instituted the Honor buy system in the first place. so that a dedicated free player could still get some LE gear.

We took the every weekend double xp/hp out because it was supposed to be a special thing, and having it every weekend made it common, ordinary and expected. We will start having them again on a more regular basis, and after the big update, they will be systematic.

actually a a player gets to 100,000 right about the time they hit level 30, and 200,000 when they hit level 35. Also in the near future we will be adding more ways to earn honor, and having double and even triple honor weekends.

We arrived at the 5000 coin price tag for 2 reasons. it has 5 items that we would normally charge 1000 coins for, and you get all the rest for free. Also we WANT you to spend Honor on it. The whole point of this bundle was to give players something to do with all that honor they have been saving up, and more than 50 million honor has been spent on these bundles so far. There will be other bundles in the future that will vary in price. Most will not be as expensive as this bundlem, but they wont have as many cool toys either.

Also coming in the near future will be bigger better ways to get honor :D

Indeed this is exactly why this is happening, to many unclaimed rewards. The problem will be fixed on thursday with the maintenance.
