Alek

Donovan was, for a person who just saw a friend tossed out of a balloon, remarkably calm. Which, absolutely, merited a comment. “Well, Donovan, you seem remarkably calm for what just happened. Even I’m shaken, but you, you have so much more to be angry at. How do you manage that?” Alek meant everything that he said. Shaken, and awed by Donovan’s stolidity.

Ah, you see, I had read your post before your little… edit, shall we say? I check back to see if there are more posts, not if there are different ones. I’ll get on responding.

Dammit, 10CM01, I thought you were FF. Why must you confuse me so?

Aside from not being acknowledged in the slightest after my offer of companionship, I am fine.

Alek will bear the mantle of “Oh fuck what have I gotten myself into” proudly as well. And also share the mantle of sanity. My (eventual) second character is also sane, because I don’t very much like playing super unpredictable characters.

Alek

Power was being thrown around left and right, and frankly Alek probably wouldn’t have been able to deal with it very effectively. Luckily the enemy seemed to forget about him, which was a positive. It was a most fancy spectacle that held the adrenaline of fear, but seemingly very little danger. When it was all over, the man that I had healed was falling out of the ship and Donovan was raving after him. There wasn’t much that Alek could do, but Donovan seemed like a good person. Alek walked up to him and said “Yes, we will save him. We don’t get to lose people this early. We’ll get him back, but first we must know who they were and what they wanted.”

Yes. Amazing content, bad episode transition.

[No.]

-5 GMT. (#+14_Kiribati!)

I’m watching Sense 8 on netflix and like, wtf, this show is trying to make me upset at current cinematography theory. A cliffhanger on every episode, seriously we don’t need those. The last 5 minutes of a show won’t get me to watch the next one in the series.

That said the concept is brilliant. And the film work is excellent. I’m so conflicted.

Yeah, fast enough to kill everyone in the area.

Well, about the idea of directing air currents with electricity, you might be able to heat air in a certain place high enough, fast enough, to make noticeable wind, but you still have the problem that it is not direct able. The air would just flow away from the center of heating.

Except that all of these things require a huge amount of energy, much more than just doing it in another fashion. Air is a great insulator, as is water (sea water is great at conductions, but not pure water).

Alek’s stomach, like the rest of his physical body, is made out of steel and tungsten. He is hard as nails and does not lose his lunch easily.

Alek

OK, score one for intuition. It was always boarders. Alek was now somewhat regretful about eating before fighting, as it never agreed with him, but that was not concern for the moment. The frenchman from before, Jesse, called out for help, so that took precedence. For the second time in the day, Alek withdrew his sabre from the swordcane and raised it to a defensive posture. Alek advanced slowly, confident that the several distractions of his allies would cover him, until he was standing over the fallen man. As much as he disliked the French, this man was an ally, and likely a necessary one. Alek readied his sword and counter spell as he began to heal the fallen figure with his other magic.

Alek

Yes, this was a well stocked kitchen, Alek thought as he found awesome sides for his sandwich. He was interrupted, well not exactly interrupted – more of a startled – by one of the pilots running towards the source of the noise. Of course. Of course it was some kind of conflict. Alek put down the remnants of his sandwich and thought for a moment: If it was still the conflict between the two non-humans then the pilots would be on deck, meaning that there was something below decks. And not too many people showed up here yet, so it was either the crazy vampire man, Donovan, or someone else who managed to get down here in the past few minutes. And a subcategory of that last one was boarders. Pirates or the like. Fine.

Alek hurried to follow the pilot that he had seen, trailing him until he finds the trouble.

That’s OK, FF, I’m one of the less than 1% of people who thinks that PTC paper tastes somewhat sweet. Oh genetics!

2.54 cm = 1 inch, exact conversion.

And you all know that you get shorter over the course of the day, right? It’s usually about 1 cm, but can be as much as 4. When you sleep it resets somewhat.

I learned that in like, kindegarten.

But that would imply mods would actually have to have a sense of humor before being modded
Which is obviously not the case when it comes to me…

You have one! Somewhere! Under that deep reserve of stolidness, I’m sure…

@Flyingcat:
As long as we’re less than 2.5km above the ground or so, we won’t have any ‘staying alive’ problems. I also independently did the math on that one. We won’t have decompression illness (The diver thing) unless we’re at about 5km or above.

If the attackers put a hole smaller than a standard piece of paper in the hull, we’re not going to vent quickly enough to do any damage to anything (Though the person standing next to the breach would be VERY unhappy, and possibly sans one arm. We have the armor of the plot, though.). Anything larger than a square foot or two would pop the room the people were standing in, probably shatter all the windows in the nearby area, slowly (30 seconds > x > 1 minute, depends on ship size and how many doors are shut) decompress the rest of the ship that isn’t sealed off, and make life very unfortunate to anyone nearby. This assumes that we are at something like 10km. At about 5km, these sizes square or so, and at 3 km they about cube. And to top it off, if someone does something stupid and punches a hole in the ship from the outside, they get it far worse than the people on the inside.

We can breathe at most pressures, since the pressure in the lungs equalizes with the pressure of the atmosphere. It is the question of getting a high enough concentration of Oxygen.

And, since we can breathe when exposed to open atmo on the deck of the ship, I say that none of this is actually possible and the pressure on the inside/outside is about the same, and we are flying low enough to not rapidly/explosively decompress.

Edit: Ninja’d by host.
