I understand your point and I agree clicking to increase a number isn’t really, a game, but must idle games are more complex then that. And many idle games do keep people’s attention, like clicker heroes, for example (it’s not uncommon for someone to actively play that one, since your clicking power never gets too outclassed.) But again you make a lot of sense.

Actually all you really are doing is clicking to increase a number. Whether the number of your automated money making things or clicking to manually increase your money number. I can see why some people like it, the same kind of thing where people do ‘speed runs’ of games, but it’s not my kind of thing.

Well, yeah, but if you want to be technical, all video games are strings of code, with most of the system being based on numbers, and there are idle games like idleplex which is based on having a bunch of minigames that you upgrade so they can play themselves to an extant, but most of the minigames never reach the point where they do better without you.

Yeah, what I’m saying is that these are boiled down to the absolute basic of literally clicking to increase a number. It seems the same as going into that code and typing in a number, then deleting it and typing in a higher one. (in my opinion) Nothing wrong with it at all if it entertains someone. I just wish hundreds of creators didn’t jump on the bandwagon whenever there’s a current trend. They tend to flood the market with them and it’s a lot to wade through, especially if it isn’t a genre you enjoy. But that’s the game industry. Whether free or paid, indie or AAA. Paid games are doing that too atm with zombies and “MMOs”.

It’s even worse if it is a genre you really enjoy because then you’ll be flooded with crap games when looking at that genre. But you still don’t get idleplex. In idleplex, it’s not just the clicking to increase the number, you play minigames to increase the number, and that number is spent to either buy more minigames or increase the speed of the number. The number isn’t the bottomline in that game. Although I can’t say there’s a way to lose I guess.

Very true there. Seems 99% of games of any genre are bad these days. =\

That game sounds better at it at least then. It looks to be in the extreme minority in that case though. I think it would be nice to be able to filter OUT a category in the lists, instead of only looking at specific ones.

Everyone has different ideas on what makes a game. Personally, I don’t consider something a ‘game’ unless it requires interaction with it (and clicking to increase a number doesn’t count as interaction to me) and has some way to fail and/or not progress. And a ‘good’ game keeps a person’s attention. (argue what you like, but idle’s don’t do that) “Idle” by definition is the opposite of a ‘game’ to me. But again, that’s just my feeling on what a game actually is. Other than absolutely overwhelming all the new games lists, it doesn’t affect me at all and people can play what they like. I just wish I didn’t have to wade through them all. lol

I was wondering if it was just me or if there actually has been as huge a flood of idle stuff as it looked like. Guess it’s not just me. >.<

Topic: Kongregate / Too many multiplayer lately

Actually, you CAN go to youtube and ask people not to upload game videos… it won’t do you any good, but you can ask. lol And no, that wasn’t what I was asking. Once again, I was only voicing MY opinion. People can take it or not, as it’s only the opinion of one person. And really, it’s the ‘facebook’ games that I find a little ridiculous being posted here.

I voiced an opinion and you turned it into a completely different discussion, implying I was telling a company, that has nothing to do with it, what to add on their site. And I’m the troll, right. Look in a mirror.

I saw no questions directed toward me. Yours appeared to be rhetorical.

Still awfully defensive. I couldn’t care less the reasons behind it (and I already knew and understood them), I’m simply voicing my own opinion.

Topic: Kongregate / Too many multiplayer lately

As the OP, I should reply to this I suppose. This is a community forum, therefore I’m simply voicing my opinion. I said nothing like “Kongregate should stop adding multiplayer games” or anything of the sort, so replies like “Kong doesn’t decide what gets uploaded, they only decide what gets badged.” have no bearing on my comment, so please calm down and don’t be so defensive for someone I wasn’t even targeting in the first place. As it’s a community forum and not simply a ‘feedback to kongregate’ forum, I mention my opinion FOR those adding the games lately.

(and personally, if I want to play a facebook game, I’ll just do it on facebook. =P)

There have been too many multiplayer and “Facebook” games added here lately. =\

Topic: Technical Support / Game descriptions gone?

Are the descriptions of the games supposed to be gone on all the search pages? I hate clicking on links to games that look interesting, just to find out it’s a theme that I don’t like or want to play. (like the multiplayer ones)
