Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / To (DEVS). Petition for retirement system. Suggestions on how to implement it.

I was about to post an answer this morning, but realized that it is another text wall, I’ve been working and I’m tired.
so I’ll just make it as small as I can. Edit: Will make it shorter tomorrow? It’s still huge.

Originally posted by p4n1q:

OP is a terrible idea because it benefits players who alt.

If devs said they know which accounts are good and which ones aren’t, I believe in them. There should be a list somewhere, and I think the only reason they haven’t stoped bots and alts completely is because proving that X account is actually a fake without a trace of doubt isn’t easy, requires a lot of evidence and not just someone with a few screenshots.

I think that is why warnings are issued to players who show irregular conduct. I also think that those guys are dealt with outside of forums, very quietly thus giving the general impression that justice isn’t working.
I’m operating based on this premise, that it’s possible somehow to know who’s legit and who isn’t. That’s also the same reason why I thought it could be regulated with a WB payment (previous size just a suggestion, could be more); having a phony account for a year or almost a year without getting caught, hoarding WB’s for an exchange, even if you win in tournaments seems like a lot of effort just to get some extra cards, and if you’re going to eliminate duplicates, maybe gray out rewards based on raids, loyalty or levels, then it’s harder to earn some benefit by dismantling alt accounts en masse. Possibly yes, but hardly worth the effort.

Suppose that someone already has that many alts made with their accounts correctly managed and WB’s hoarded. remove them from the game; suddenly their main account becomes a lot more suspicious that it was; and while it’s harder to compile proof against a few nicknames, maybe it’s easier to keep track of 3 “people” and compare ins and outs with servers and proxies and the like, than it is to keep track of a hundred or more bots planted everywhere. Plus, less bot accounts could mean fairer wars.

So the only people that could get real benefits from this are the ones aiming to retire hardcore accounts to nurture small ones:

Originally posted by Entername_______:

If this passes, everyone start befriending hard core long lasting account holders with lots of cards. Befriend them and hope they choose u, if this happens, congratulations, u just won the lottery! How about u don’t transfer the cards, the whole point is to earn them, not just have them handed to u.

I wasn’t thinking on the n00b who won the lottery as much as the friend who worked his rear end to get a bunch of Joltrek skiffs and few options to make their decks (and again maybe he enjoys this more than you do, or else he would have rage quitted.). Wether a player deserves the cards should be judged in a case by case basis (again, level, raid, instransferable WB/shards, WB payment, maybe the guy who receives this also needs to be an almost year veteran) and against false “friends” your best and only real defense is common sense.

I have been lurking around forums and have seen some threads about catfacing (another similar trust issue); in every single one I have read, someone brought up account sharing. They gave an spy passwords he shouldn’t have, next important war, a bunch of members kicked, stellar officers missing. Maybe you didn’t shared accounts but forgot to pay attention of how weird your warmaster’s conduct was, if you promote the guy/lady before clearing things out, BAM, overnight a lot of people are out of the faction. In these cases, is that lack of common sense that allows foul play to take place, not the other way around.

A perfect ending would be something that allowed us to make things right without offering a big exploit for the less scrupulous. Is that even possible? IDK. I just want to make clear that I’m not posting with bad intent.
I’d like to leave something tangible for my friends when I’m gone, and I thought on cards precisely because those are the things that cost you effort and time to gather.
Something that tells you that your time and money invested here weren’t wasted, at least not completely. (I’d rather not expand on this, again, I think players should be able to decide what to do with their cards without someone else taking advantage of the system) If I can’t have that, then I’ll push my own retirement a little more and just go for the graveyard idea suggestion wise. I think that we all agreed on that one ore or less; so that should be presented to the consortium as it is.

Originally posted by retsamerol:

Worthwhile petitions get flagged by Consortium members and brought to the attention of the developers. Many (such as this one) are ignored because the consortium won’t flag them, others don’t fit with the dev’s vision for the game or monetization strategy or whatever. But, I believe, a few do actually influence the devs.

One of the reasons why TheRealPip has been lauded by the Tyrant community was his ability to effectively compile player concerns, often originating from petitions, and provide the developers with a representative and prioritized bug/feature list for the developers to tackle. This is how game features such as the skip button (i.e. 32X speed petitions), quests and arguably shard/token pack purchase options originated.

While I think monetization is the most pressing concern for most developing teams, I don’t want to fall in the trap that would imply having that one purpose characterized as THE driving force behind every update; devs are know that any game that isn’t entertaining it’s just not worth your investment; thus some updates (like the quests, shards and conquest) seem to go against monetization in some levels (someone may argue this one here) but they’re reinforcing the player base. In the end, there’s some balance to it.

Definitely retiring players isn’t an immediate concern (even with the benefits and if we keep the problems to a minimum), so I can see why the issue can get ignored. However it’s something that crosses the mind of more than one player at some point, and it’s probably better than a gift system or exchange, things that are going to be suggested at some point unless they have already been presented (that would belong to another thread).

Probably the idea still sucks, someone is going to come with a long explanation about how they can evade the police for years and use alts with impunity; cheating in tournaments to get WB and program a lot of computers to get shards; So i’ll asume that such method is already on the hands of (insert infamous cheater here) and ask you if such person can be stopped now from doing it. If not, how do we know that they don’t own the game already?

For the ones that would like to improve on the original idea (or parts of it, anything that you think is worthy fo rescue or at least doable) (maybe you know how to tackle these problems better than I do) or the graveyard idea (much more likely to happen, less likely to produce flammable responses) you’re welcome to do so.
I’ll be busy for a few days, but I’ll be thinking about what you’ve already said.

Also sorry for the wall, and thanks for your patience.

We need a system to simply delete our account, with precautions like 2-3 warning messages and a possible restore in 48-72 hours just in case of an hacked account.

I agree with these guys. This idea has too many flaws although a decent idea to begin with.

thank you for the input guys, i’ll retire the idea of multiple players to begin with, is there any idea of how we can do this without the alt wave rising?

The idea was to only tranfer long lasting accounts to help counteract this.
Maybe we can restrict unique rewards to the cards that the receiver doesn’t have, like predators or jackals or whatnot, if you have them already then you’d be receiving nothing because the achievement is already on. How does that sound?

Also ProkkER’s idea of a graveyard sound cool. It would also be useful with the fossilized/undead rankings for tournaments as suggested not so long ago in another thread, like this guy retired in -/-/— and he was x in the rankings. Of course penalty for not showing up would sitll be applied for not participating.

Maybe it was my subconscious trying to tell me “go and seek feedback before presenting this”, I still think there should be an option to retire but I didn’t want to shove it up someone’s mesages just yet. I’m hoping someone interested improves on this idea or presents a new one.

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / To (DEVS). Petition for retirement system. Suggestions on how to implement it.

Not used to starting threads I’ll get to the point.

For personal reasons I want to quit tyrant.

I won’t be able to play enough to be a true F2P player, and I can’t spare any more money playing this game (not that I spent that much to begin with).

I surprised myself thinking why did I not retire sooner and realized that the main reason I keep playing was because I have been here for quite some time now, and I used to have a lot of fun with my friends back when we were more talkative on faction chat.
Most of them have retired already and the ones who remain are having more or less the same thoughts, so here I am.

Thing is now I’m a head in the faction and that gives you some responsibilities with the rest of your team. You can’t just quit and see them suffer a huge loss in points, everyone has worked hard to get here and blah blah. Our faction is not a big one, we don’t have that many levels or whatever, but still is a pretty old faction and I’d hate to see that ruined just because I had things to do elsewhere and couldn’t find a replacement. Maybe some of you are in the same situation, then again maybe you aren’t.

And there’s the drama of alts and bots and cheats everywhere and things that set good competition apart, and generally make this environment a less enjoyable game for the rest of the players.

So I had an idea; given that devs can check which accounts are phony and which ones aren’t, how about veteran accounts being able to retire when they reach a threshold of say, 8 months of gameplay?

Retiring an account meaning not just leaving it there like a dead fish, but giving your cards in inheritance to a trusted friend or someone who really enjoys playing this more than you do.

If you think about it, this would help to stop account sharing, it would make factions smaller (whole number of veterans with dead accounts out there) and the players that remain would have huge cardpools to make the game more interesting. Most promos aren’t even in meta now and devs look with skepticism at the idea of improving them, but some are still useful and kinda cool.

This may even make conquest maps more exciting, as players would have to think of new defenses and things like that. Level wouldn’t be a barrier anymore, if you have the skill and you’re active enough, you may be able to win even in standard.

This would be my (very rough) draft for this:

-Any account that has reached this time threshold and is deemed worthy of retirement can ask for dismissal with a similar method that you’d use for retiring a kong account, you could send an email with a certain code or something and the server would ask for confirmation along with a proposal:
Do you want to give your items to a certain player(s), or be buried holding your Hades like you’d hold a grudge?
State the nickname of the heir(s) and their current faction. This is to avoid making mistakes with similar nicknames.
A well worded, short warning, something better than this one: This action cannot be undone. Don’t give your cards to people you don’t trust! Proceed anyway? Y/N

-You can decide to give the following: In game gold, crafting components, upgrades for deck and energy (only if they have the req level, otherwise already bought, but grayed out until they fulfill the req.), reward cards (when they unlock the prerequisites for them, otherwise grayed out [except crafted cards, event cards and tournament rewards which should be available from day 1]), and all the cards from the normal sets and promo set.

-This would mean that you can’t give your WB’s or shards, thus devs wouldn’t have to worry about some new player buying the new expansion cards in bulk (which is the likely an important source of income because of the natural power creep effect, the fact that almost nobody buys old promos, and only a small amount of factions can hold tiles in conquest).

-From these components you can’t split your cardpool. You can only choose one player to have it. This is to make it simpler, and evade fighting between players. If needed be, we can restrict this to a simple “one player gets all”, gold, crafting, cards, etc, and be done with it.

-Maybe a symbolic amount of WB’s in payment for every salvaged account, like 60 WB’s paid between the two accounts, it’s a little high for most of us but it’s the price for entering elite; so it is not unaffordable. Also it would help to diminish abuse, while encouraging people to buy more WB’s instead of hoarding them waiting for some promotional spammable. This is also an incentive for devs, WB’s for promos would likely be real money, not the ones that you get in boxes.

-If someone who has retired wishes for some reason to play again, they can do it… but they will start anew, level 1 with Whisper or Cyrus playing in arctis, no WB’s, deleted from global rank. Harsh but powerful reminder, you go with it, it’s forever.
Or maybe some tired, experienced player wants to write a walkthrough in hardcore mode on how to reach tyrant mission 478 and get all raids completed in one month before leaving tyrant forever (and name it the Chuck Norris plays challenge or something equally silly), this could be an excellent choice, as new players would feel inclined to join.

More ideas to be added later.

I’d like Synapticon or DaWayne to give their opinions on this subject, or maybe they have thought of something similar and can come up with a better way to do it. In both cases, devs r welcome to discuss this one (If I can ask for just one grace, please don’t dismiss this post right away!).

Also I’d like people to make reasonable suggestions, and offer insight on the possible problems as well as possible solutions for these ones (BE CIVIL PLZ! Don’t just say this idea sucks, say what you would change of it in order to make it work a little more; this way something workable will come out in the end, maybe a better idea).
I know this can be logistical nightmare, in fact I expect it to be; but I think in the end it can solve more problems than the ones it can create.

Maybe, just maybe, they could make an art contest. Like, post your awesome, ORIGINAL illustration of X card (size and format rules, judgement rules, something serious); then, if people think is cool and Devs think it’s cool, you’ll see it published and get 50 WB, plus one normal and one shiny copy of the card you just designed. People that feel attracted to shiny will buy shiny and people attracted to normal but different could buy their own revamped card too.

I was thinking on the quad walker thread, people were laughing at devs just being outside the copyright infringement notice horizon, or something like that; this could kill two birds with one stone, providing original art for the game (top quality) and helping talented members of the community.

And as an extra incentive, cards with the most quantity of good art and voted for it would be discussed for buffing, if possible. Most of them would be free cards as those would be voted and redesigned the most, but now and then a card with awesome potential or bought earlier in packs of ten (like colossus) would be out with new stats, cooler art and changing meta.

F2Ps Won’t complain to see a WB card buffed once in a while, as long as their cards get some adjustments too. In fact anything that is aimed towards making promos flavorful enough, or interesting mechanics wise is best for the game overall; not just for spenders.

Just remember to put the winners with promo prices for two weeks or something.

I think it mite b cool to revamp cards from the first missions, when everything was more militaristic like and the bloodthirsty were awesome, even terrible opponents if your gold packs betrayed you with bad rares.
Infantry is probably the weakest playable card in the game, but with 0 wait and rally it could really pack a punch to some unprotected decks, or work as cannon fodder to protect slower assault units/structures.

Wait 2, 6 health and a defensive skill give the transport some survivability, but generally it shouldn’t stick around enough to summon more than 2 times, except in a very good deck (plus infantry & rocket infantry can be blocked with weaken).

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / [Dev] Universal Shard rate/cost poll

Option 1. If possible to keep the shard flow while making wb’s from daily chance less random (like, more boxes with 1, less with 5, somehow keeping the shards proposed) that would be great.

I already have 44 gateway nodes and I don’t want the next craftable cards to increase cost exponentially, I want it heracles level for great legendaries, longshot level for uniques. They are top level, hard to get, fun to use; it’s that simple.
Because of this I don’t need that many crafting comps in boxes. You don’t want to give that many free WB, that’s fine, low denomination boxes are cool and can occupy the same space. You’d be giving more or less the same amount of WB daily, but you’d give the players a sense of progress and fairness; boxes contain good things, even if they do in small amounts.

This is mostly for us the guys that almost never hit good things in daily chance.

Will edit later, because addresing more than one topic.

If you make a cap probably 30 or 40 would be better.

I’m thinking on the players who already will have enough copies of the cards they want by now… it’s improbable but not impossible.

I don’t know if there’s a way to prevent you from drawing more than 18 legends or uniques of the same card when opening packs. I mean, the cap is 18 decks (when fully upgraded), and although I don’t know anyone who is experimenting that situation either, using your shards to draw a card you couldn’t possibly use can be a problem in the future, when you’re almost completing a set.

Yeah maybe it’s already implemented and sounds way too improbable to be an issue right now, IDK. If so, disregard this post.

Berserk 1 on Attacked
Intercept
Crush 1

Make sure you add Burst 0 and Pierce 0. Also Flurry 0.
To make this a good card you would need Leech 1.
That would be op.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t a unit with blitz and 0 wait will attack twice if the unit in front of it is active? Just give it blitz and one point of burst, that’s 6 damage potential ON DROP. It’s still an action-ish card, but that would be impressive.

Or you could just add burst 2 in order to be the fastest one hit wonder without making it OP.

Topic: Technical Support / Chat still loading..

Having the same problem. I can’t earn badges or chat with anyone. This has been going on for three days I think.
After disabling plug-ins, port forwarding, uninstalling flash then reinstalling, changing dns server, editing hosts file, running for errors in the registry and running a virus scan test I still can’t connect to chat and score servers. In a few minutes I’ll try installing chrome to see if it is a firefox problem, but after that I’m out of ideas.

I can log in and play just fine though, which is weird.
normally what appears is something like game info loaded and the six loading dots animation on the chat tab, but that’s all.
red plug and everything on the top corner.
Also, When I tried to connect and disconnect many times in the same window the only progress I had was the connecting to chat message, but it’s the same problem, it just gets stuck in the loading animation.

I’ll update if I find a solution, but if anyone else had the same problem and managed to solve it, I’ll be roaming forums. Frankly losing a badge or two isn’t that much of an issue, but I’d like to beat the weekly challenge at least.

UPDATE: And somehow the problem was firefox. Chrome seems to work just fine, at least I can see chat now and have a green plug, so medals shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll try playing on chrome for the time being.

But if troublesome plugs were disabled, what happened with my browser?

Topic: Realm of the Mad God / [Guide] What to do, and what not to do.

A small huge note textwall for those people who’d like to go to godlands at low level.

If you have already fought gods before, it may be worth it. However be sure of three basic things:

-Get away from low level groups specially if there are lots of wizards / rogues in them.

There are a lot of low level graves because of these people; they go to godlands, die, go to godlands, die again, go to godlands, Have some luck or steal some chest, then survive a little and die. Problem is they not only will die, but pull an awful lot of angry gods towards you each time they do.
Chances are you may die too for this reason.
Why wizards and rogues? Ok, wizard is the basic class. Anyone who’s still learning or on the contrary is a very good player will take this class at some point because of range and high damage. If you see them moving back and forth, without priests or other leaders, disorganized, leave them be for 7 minutes. Then come back and pick up whatever gods they left for you at your own pace.

Rogues on the other hand are either daredevils or masters of strafing. Both strategies work and but not only neither of them will appreciate you pulling bullets towards them; They also might get you shot when they’re running! Study the particular rogue you’re with before partying with them. offer them snake oils and spider ichors, they love practical healing and will give decent gear for those things.

Last but not least, huge trains of classes like necromancers may cause a lot of lag; which in turn causes death, mourning, and rage quits.

-Always prepare an escape route

You need to learn how to dodge bullets, and definitely you need to hone your nexus call button, for teleporting instantly and only when you need it; but what also pays is to clear up an small, defensible area from monsters before godlanding. an ent god tree ring or a castle is ideal, but any location will work.
Learn how to dodge moving as little as possible and pull your prey to your chosen area. There you can abort mission if you’re losing, strafe to kill safely, and in general, have a greater shot at soulbound loot.

-Pie cleaning, move a little around the edge, then head center cautiously.

This is a must if you want loot. If you take too much time cleaning the edges, other monsters will approach and you’ll have to kill them too, and this will be barely worth your time; but if you just rush in, I don’t care how high is your level or how good are your l33t sk1ll5; you’ll die. You may define pie as you wish, however, keep in mind that gods tend to surround you at the slightest chance they have to do so.

And a last word of advice, for the ones who are starting:
As the priest is probably the class with the most survivability, they make excellent godlanders with only decent gear, both solo and in groups, as long as you use your mana correctly and have basic dodging/targeting skills.

As a priest: If you see a douche asking for heals every two seconds, excuse politely, then leave.
They won’t share stat potions, EVER, and WILL drag you down. Better find a class you fight well with, like an assassin or paladin, when they come to you, they will need healing, and you can pace those heals with your mana recovery rate. Plus in my experience they tend to share loot.

Good geared assassins are pro players if only because they have tested rogues before and became proficient enough with them not just to pull things towards other players. Paladins will maximize your healing. Both you want as friends.
You’re not restricted to those two, however; any educated, tactical player will work, and as few as five of them acting correctly can beat any dungeon with ease if properly equipped.

If you’re the noob in the group, is best to warn them in advance. They will let you live at the middle and share some loot, if only because you attract some shoots and won’t attract death to them. If you’re the advanced player, make some simple tactics and commit to them. This will save you many times. A simple “I’m a wiz with low equips, excuse me if I bail out” Is good enough etiquette to explain your sudden banishment to nexus. Pulling an angry boss towards the party before doing so, definitely isn’t.

I have one carrier I bought out of curiosity more than anything else. It’s good as it is against slowrolls because it offers the option of stomping them with many small imperials. I agree that it’s very hard for it to survive past the first summon, though.

The idea of the carrier was to play it with cards that have effects on play, like weaken all so that it can summon 2 or 3 transmitters, then rallying summoned cards massively.
In theory someone with obliterator and a bunch of good WB cards can assemble a deck able to resist both righteous muscle and xeno fear with mild discomfort, but such deck would be very hard to play on defense.

Lost my mythology library to a crush around 6 years ago, so I had to (sigh) look at wikipedia to confirm; Jotunn seems to be a reference to ALL the giants, not just one, jotunheim is indeed their homeland. The particle -heim may be a suffix, since there are similar words depicting places in norse myth (I had this idea of seeing Jotun as an entity somewhere, along with Surtr; but probably that came from another source. It may also be the same case with Strum, I’ll check it out).

I don’t see Odin’s death as a defeat, because of four things, he was able to see the future, he had been warned of his death, he could resurrect himself using magic, and if all else fails, he knew his son would survive. Were it not for his efforts in recruiting the slain heroes; the battle would have been lost, but instead he succeeds; knowing very well that it will cost him his life.

This only makes me wish his designated card was stronger. He gives protect all and has a nice attack, but the winged valks are stronger and have better art. Maybe it’s just the Odin battle armor, as in a legendary battle suit for infantry units, but the difference is still huge.

You are almost correct. Jotun (jotne in norwegian),is indeed a reference to all the “giants” as you call them. They can be compared to the titans in Greek mythology. They are older than the gods (Loki, or Loke in Norwegian, is actually half , and always want to take over their homeland, Asgard (Åsgård). Jotunheimen (meaning “home of the jotuns”) is a range of mountains in Norway, which was believed to be their homelands. It is not a suffix, like you believed, but simply a word for “home”.

-Foppa, the scandinavian scoundrel

Wasn’t even mad bro.
Not accusing anyone of anything either, less of hypocrisy.
Sharing a word of caution is however in order, just to allow the other party to save face.

I’m a certified freak too, but I never needed to show a condescending attitude towards others. Neither should you.

Good night thread, hope the devs write some background for these guys someday.
