You got a better look at the Ravens. Their leader wore glasses and had blond hair. The other two looked identical. The leader turned to you and told you about their party.
“We are the intellectuals who keep this ship afloat. We try to keep everyone fed, but we need more workers for the greenhouses…”
As he gave you one of their strange, questioning gazes, the Irishman spoke out.
“No one in The Party ever goes hungry!”
One of the twins joked, “We can see that.”
The Irishman stepped forward angrily, and the twins took a synchronized step back. Their comrade stood perfectly still and stared at the approaching man. He slowed down his approach when he met the Raven’s eyes. The youngest Party Member broke the tension.
“It will be expected of you to join The Party. We would provide you with food, clothing and shelter. The only thing The Party requires of you is work befitting your age. You would probably end up doing paperwork, or similar.”
“Don’t join those brutes! They drill those lies into their youngest members. You’ll be put on an assembly line, and retirement age will somehow always elude you. They’ll work you to death! "
The other two Party members stood and walked toward the squawking Raven. The twins stepped forward again. It looked like the conflict was going to get violent, but the door opened, distracting everyone.
Two men in white shirt and black pants walked in and said, “Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Jesus Christ?” Suddenly everyone but the old Party member was trying to talk over each other at once. When he spoke up, he cleared the room with his impressive voice. Now everyone was in an orderly line waiting to get to you.
Who do you want to speak to first?

You decide that you do not like these men. Suddenly, a long lean mutt walks in. It curls up around the feet of the youngest man. A fat pit-bull waddles in and sits near the Irishman. The men look angrily to the door.
You see a trio of men in khakis, white jackets, and black button-ups. The Party members stand and confront them at the foot of your bed. The new arrivals wear a black bird-symbol on their lapels. They begin to argue. The officer starts in for the Party.
“The deal was very clear! You lot get to stay outside with the Jesus-freaks! The Party gets first pickings!”
The apparent leader of these men speaks up in defense, “We never agreed to the deal. This man comes from a secular age! Surely, he will have a healthy scientific curiosity!”
You might be able to sway the argument either way. It would really depend on who you want to talk to. Then again, you could just stay out of it. What do you do?

You say, “Well, I do believe I am doing alright, despite the circumstances in which I appear to be in currently.”
They look confused and a little amused. The old officer speaks again.
“Your English is very good. I guess you are wondering where you are. You are on The Ship. It used to have a name, but… It’s been years since we took off from Earth. No one knows how many years. The ravens are trying to answer that one every day. Well, I don’t want to overwhelm you. I’ll let the others speak.”
The youngest speaks next.
“The Ship is ruled by The Party, and our High Leader, Mr. Gilt. We are members of The Party. We enforce the law and administer justice. We also administrate the activities on The Ship. The men who are caring for you now are Ravens. They’re a bunch of-”
He is interrupted by the red-haired man, “They call themselves ‘intellectuals’. They run hospitals and greenhouses and things like that. High Leader Gilt tolerates them because they are necessary to the health of the people.”
They look at you questioningly. They have a strange tendency to do that.
What do you think about the generation-ship being run by these strange parties?

You decide that you need to regrow your English Moustache. While you’re thinking about this trivial matter, the military uniformed men appear again. They sit down and ask you questions.
One is around your age and appears African, but his accent is strange. One is in his 30’s and looks Irish, but has the same accent, roughly. He’s slightly fat and smiles honestly. The last is lean and pale, with dark eyes and dark hair. He looks to be around 20, and speaks with the same accent as the others. The oldest one is apparently an officer, and asks you some questions.
“How are you doing?”
How do you respond?
(Preferably a direct quotation.)

Insect-like beings with huge eyes sprayed you down with hoses. You cowered and tried to escape. You didn’t understand what was happening. When you woke again, three men sat around you.
It had been a long time, but words began to come back to you. Your arms and legs began to stir at your command. You struggled weakly against a paper-thin sheet. Your mind started labeling things.
You lay in the hospital bed, trying to process what the uniformed men said. It sounded right, but the accent was strange. You got the hang of it, and tried to reply. Your mouth made sound, but not words. They frowned and let you sleep.
On day 2 you noticed that you were hairless and feared that it might be permanent. On day 3 you managed to tell the nurse which flavor of jello you wanted. On day 5 your hair started growing. On day 6 you were shaved again. On day 7 you asked a doctor where you were, but he only smiled. On day 8 men in military uniforms came by and checked your progress. On day 9 you ate some solid food, finally. On day 10 you lost count of the days you had lain in the bed.
Your hair was growing back in earnest. You rubbed your chin and felt a little stubble. Your arm was frighteningly thin. You tried to remember what you looked like in a mirror, and how old you were.
(This kind of game requires a longer answer. Below, I’ll post an example of a good answer to this question.)

(This time I’ve got a little bit more free time; I’m on spring break.)
(Present tense or past tense? Present tense seems a little odd, and might put some people off. I’ll put it up to a vote.)
You lay in the metallic womb, sleeping. It’s warm and dark. You had vague, primal dreams. Suddenly, your home was opened. The air and light burned and disoriented. Strong hands dragged you out of your shell. You were born into The Ship.

Alexander:
You follow the crowds. They call for taxis and streetcars, forming lines around the block. You rush with them. You pass increasingly tall buildings. You reach the center of town, and a large round building. Crowds push in through the doors. You join them and find yourself at the back of a massive theater.
At the opposite end, two men sit behind a desk. You can’t make out much, but you see that something is happening, and then the whole room is invaded by an orange light outside the windows.
A. Try to get closer.
B. Leave the building.
C. Stay put.
Michael:
You yell for them to get back to work. They grumble and turn off the screen. They walk back to their computers and before long they’re furiously typing again. You smile at your work and walk to your computer. You sit down in front of it, but notice something in the window behind. The entire western sky glows orange. You have a hard time containing yourself.
A. Cry out.
B. Jump out of your seat.
C. Throw yourself under your desk.
Philippe:
You approach him and he smiles, toothless.
“Sir, can you point me to the nearest…”, he says, suddenly drawing a large knife from his back pocket. He vaguely threatens you, and orders you to hand over your valuables. Are you armed?
A. You have a concealed pistol.
B. You have a non-lethal weapon for self-defense.
C. You’re unarmed.
John:
You believe in peaceful secession. Suddenly, the room on the screen fills with light. The windows behind you flood the room you’re in, with the same light. The little square in the corner turns to snow. The young consul loses his composure. The crowd roars in panic. The old man lifts his hand and the room falls silent. He stands to make himself heard.
“The Terran administration has just fired a nuclear strike on one of our mines. They have, therefore, broken every treaty made for the last 366 years. Everyone in the city is safe, and anyone on the outskirts. We will begin an emergency vote after a necessary 5 minute break. That is all.”
How do you react to the news?
A. Outrage!
B. Sadness.
C. Fear.

Alexander
You grab the closest thing to you and hurl it at the thief. The jar of jam explodes on the counter a foot away from him. He turns and approaches you. As he gets closer you see that he shudders and shakes. You see the glint of a razor blade in his hand. He gets close enough or you to see his swollen blue lips. Suddenly, he collapses in a pool of blood.
The old man rushes over, carrying a smoking shotgun and muttering “Damn junkies…”
After a few words with the police, you head back out into the city with your groceries. People seem to be going toward the center of town in a rush. What do you do?
A. Ask someone why.
B. Follow them.
C. Ignore them.
Michael:
You sign off on a few forms and make your way over to the firm. A few people are left, but most of the employees are gone. Someone rushes past you saying something about the consuls. You find a few engineers sat around a screen.
They’re watching an old man in green military dress and a middle-aged man in a suit sitting at a large desk. A huge crowd is gathering in the enormous room on the screen. In the corner of the screen, men dart about with guns in an unrelated story. What do you do?
A. Urge them to get back to work.
B. Ignore them.
C. Join them.
Philippe:
As you turn to leave, the man rises. He stands and begins to call out to you. What do you do?
A. Run away.
B. Go back to him.
C. Slowly back away.
John:
You stop to watch. Men in strange green and orange reflective uniforms are fighting Terran soldiers. They dart through a gate that has been crushed by a large drill. You soon realize you’re watching miners attacking a Terran military base, and winning. The news cuts to an emergency address by the consuls.
A old man in military dress and a middle-aged man in a suit sit before a crowd. The old man seems disturbed, but the other seems quite calm. The younger man raises his hand for silence. The roar of the crowd dies to a murmur.
“Disenfranchised colonists have attacked Frohlander Space Dock. This much, everyone knows. I will tell you something most people don’t know, though. This isn’t the start of a revolution. Our secession has been a long time coming, and it will be longer still. Peaceful negotiations will prevail, and this will be smoothed over soon enough.” He says, in a reassuring tone. He looks down at his desk and looks almost glad.
“As we speak, a detachment of drones has taken flight from Bäcker Air Depot. See, this is nothing to lose our heads over.”, he continues. The old man is silent.
How do you feel about secession?
A. We need to cut our ties to earth peacefully.
B. We need a revolution!
C. We need to remain a Terran colony.

Alexander:
You walk up to a pole and press the call button. The screen presents you with a few options. You choose to pay a few dollars for a mid-level car to the end of Spiral 1. An street-car rolls up beside you. You swipe your card and climb in.
You sit next to clerks, waiters, and cashiers. You smile. In the past, people said these service positions would be filled by machines. The fundamental problem there is that when a machine tells you “good morning” in its most artificially hopeful voice, you feel nothing. You know a machine can’t hope for you to have a good morning until true artificial intelligence is created.
You step off onto the sidewalk again, listening to the sea-birds. Spiral 1 ends abruptly at the coast. You walk over to an old store. It sells “old fashioned” goods. You see candy made by companies that were never successful this far from earth. You pick up a few Terran vegetables and some “naturalized” chicken. As you walk up to the counter, you can see the old man who owns the shop is talking to another customer. This man wears a long, thick coat. You guess he must be from somewhere colder; It never gets colder than 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the city.
You finally figure out, by the expression of the man behind the counter, that this man is robbing the store. While most people use digital currency, incompatible systems on different colonies have lead to star-ship crewmen using Terran paper dollars. The burglar has not noticed you, yet. What do you do?
A. Try to take the burglar out with a nearby object.
B. Sneak out of the store with your groceries.
C. Set your groceries down and then sneak out.
Michael:
You walk down to a popular diner. Two men in suits are waiting at a table there. You sit down in front of them and talk about a contract. They talk about a device for determining how healthy a fish is by analyzing the contents of its blood. While you talk, they eat plates of ‘bacon and eggs. You aren’t the head of your firm, but your boss has been letting you do this kind of thing more frequently lately. They’re offering a decent sum of money, then again, the firm is very busy. What will you do?
A. Take the contract.
B. Don’t take the contract.
Philippe:
You take a streetcar to a nearby park and walk around. Naturalized Earth plants bloom around you. You walk around for a while, and your legs feel a little tired. You see a bench, but a homeless man is laying on it.
A. Wake up the homeless man.
B. Leave the park.
John:
You scare them off and go back to the machines. You clean the whole school before the day’s first class ends. One of the monitors in the hall has a strange message on it. There is breaking news from a mine across the planet. There’s some kind of fighting going on there. Do you get back to work, or stop to watch?
A. Stop to watch.
B. Ignore it.

You walk out the door and look at the city around you. You live on the far end of Spiral 3; A nice enough neighborhood. It’s not a wealthy neighborhood, but it isn’t overrun by hipsters, vagrants, or soldiers. Many middle-class men and women rush around. Where do you go first?
A. A Grocer; You are running low on food.
B. A clothing store; You can afford better clothes than these.
C. A coffee shop; You need to wake up.
Michael:
You turn on an old favorite song. It fills you with confidence. You stride with purpose, but to where?
A. A business meeting.
B. Your firm’s office.
C. Your favorite coffee shop.
Philippe:
You dress and leave your home. Street-cars fly along, taking wealthy business-people deeper into the city. What are you going to do today?
A. Explore the outskirts of the city.
B. Go enjoy nature in the city’s parks.
C. Take an interest in the colony’s politics.(You are in the capital, after all.)
John:
You don’t mind the young crowd. You walk along with them, headed to the high school. You arrive, and begin to prepare the machines. You notice some kids smoking behind the school on a security camera. What do you do?
A. Go break up their party, but leave them with a warning.
B. Alert the authorities.
C. Go join them!

Wednesday, 7th of Oktember, 366 AC
Alexander:
The alarm clock wakes you at 6:00 AM. You hurriedly get dressed, but for what?
A. You have work today.
B. You’re going shopping.
C. You have tickets to an event at the local concert hall.
Michael:
You step out into the open air in a retro suit. As you walk down the street, you turn on a song on your Bruun personal computer. It rests around your wrist, playing the song directly into your ears. What song is that?
Philippe:
You rise and make your way up the stairs. You walk onto your balcony and look out at the city. Most buildings are the usual 20th century “futuristic” style, but here and there, cubism and neoclassical styles burst through the crowd. What will you do today?
A. Go out.
B. Stay in and paint.
John:
You have work today. You put on your uniform and head out the door. Young Resurgence hipsters meander down the street. The music is almost as pretentious as the people. How do you feel about them?
A. You love them-in fact, you are one!
B. You don’t have strong feelings either way.
C. Fucking hipsters! You hate this place.

Every player has their own story, but meeting up will be the goal early on. Groups can break apart, and if different characters have different political views, they will unavoidably clash.

That is excellent, gamma.
A few tips about the setting:
The population is one fourth christian, one fourth muslim, and one fourth atheist.
Today’s religions along with strange cults make up the rest of the population.
Many traditionally poor occupations can be quite wealthy. “Farmer” may refer to an overseer on a huge robot-labor plantation.

For clarification:
This game will be like an RP, but less free-form. It will play like a game of Your Tale that you play alone, in a setting including other players’ characters.

I have diagnosed the problems with my games:
1.Characterization
Your Tale focuses on broad characterization, but people who are unhappy with said characterization are stuck with it. I have fixed this by changing the nature of the game.
2.Sameness
Your Tale was becoming repetitive. I drew too much from too few sources, and made 3 games that are almost the same thing. I have drastically changed the setting to fix this.
Hopefully, this is an improvement on my previous games.
Story:
Across an Ink-black sea of void, a light has grown. It is a mighty Resurrection, spreading its grip across the Terran Empire. It will soon touch Earth and catch fire.
It is a societal shift. Intellectuals across the Empire are considering the old philosophers again. The ancient notions of Freedom and Liberty are inciting the colonies to test the chains that bind them to Earth. Unbelief has grown to rival even the Old Faiths. The entire system is on the verge of war, and you happen to be on colony that starts it.
Sign-up sheet:
Name:(First and Last.)
Occupation:(Anything that currently exists, i.e. Doctor, Preacher, Soldier, and Farmer are all valid occupations. No scientists or politicians.)
Brief Description:(So I can see a little of your character; just enough for your intro. Include marital and financial status, as well as religion.)
Signs:
1. Alexander Bentz(gammaflux)
2. Michaelan Apted(michaelan)
3. Philippe Beauregard(MasterCheif987)
4. John Grimm(overfrost)
(More are welcome, up to 5)
