You do know that whether this game gets new players or not, it has been officially abandoned by its company and it’s not going to receive anymore updates, right?

On blackwater island, there is a shop letting you buy 250 weapons for ALOT of silver

Sounds like an even bigger “fuck you” from Jamie to the players.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Sacred Seasons MMORPG] Official Suggestions Thread

How about some suggestions that actually contribute to the depth of the game instead of everyone’s own personal gravy train? There are a lot of things that can be done to make the existing features more polished, and from there the game just needs more content.

Let’s start with first impressions. First, the GUI needs to be cleaned up a bit. The four different GET GOLD links stuck on every player’s GUI look really tacky and desperate. They would do better in another place where players can access them at will, such as a menu panel of its own. And as was said before, the quest log needs something done to it to make it more user-friendly.

Now let’s take a look at the combat. Lag and other factors can lead to the player’s attacks becoming out of sync with the server. Not only that, but players have to wait until it is their turn to attack BEFORE they get a chance to look through their skill list to decide which action they want to take next.

One new feature that could help this situation would be an action queue. Here’s how it would function: Players would be able to choose an action from their abilities immediately at the start of battle and it would get added to the first slot in the queue. Then when the player’s turn comes up, the first action in the queue would be executed. At any time, the player would be able to add another action to the queue, creating a list that is visible somewhere on the screen. The player would be able to remove an action from the queue by clicking on it in the list.

I think something like that would really make combat more smooth and enjoyable.

As far as the actual content that exists in the game, the item selection reeks of pay-to-win. Maybe instead we could buy features or JUST vanity items instead of stat-giving equipment with all that gold.

Other than that, the higher level players need some new places to explore, and some content could be added that all players can partake in, such as crafting.

… We should be able to reset our data. I have a character that i want to go back to level 1 with… nothing.

Why would anyone want to do that? Instead, why don’t we just ask them to take out the aspect of the game (the randomized stat growth) that forces players to reset in order to attain their optimal stat accruement? I’m personally in favor of fixed stat growth.
Or if that wasn’t your reason for wanting to reset in the first place, then WTF.

I disagree. What makes it boring, in my opinion, is the lack of content. Here is the break down of why this game is not going to become popular again without a massive update:

1. Players can max out their level within a day or two (what is the cap again, 7?)

2. Players can get every non-cash item within a week of point farming.

3. The shopping selection for non-donators is very, very disappointing…

The sad truth is that for any free-to-play game, 10% of the playerbase makes up the majority of donators. When you design cash items with the mindset that if it’s something everyone wants/needs, everyone will eventually come around and buy it, then you’re not only mistaken, but you are decreasing the popularity of the game by decreasing the player’s motivation to play. A better model would be to design items catering to those 10% that want to be the very best and are willing to spend money that others won’t to obtain that status.

Let me put it in other words. The game’s only claim to fame is its building system, because the combat is lacking. With that said, most people who play this game do it hoping to make the most impressive landscapes, homes, lego art, whatever. Water and grass tiles are a necessity to EVERYONE at some point because of this, but these fundamental items are only available to the 10% who pay with kreds or real money. People who can’t create their vision quit if they don’t have anything else to do in the game (which they don’t because of the lack of content), and people who can eventually quit too because there aren’t enough players to gawk at all the money they have.

I’ll explain how this can be improved to make everyone a winner without really changing the way things are, using the water and grass tiles as an example.

First solution: Make things like Grassy Tiles a points item, but keep things like Grassy Floors a credits item.

Second solution: Make things like Water Tiles available in animated and non-animated versions, with the animated ones being credits-purchasable and the non-animated ones being points-purchasable.

Third solution: Provide a basic grass tile to be purchased with points, then create a more fancy one with flowers to be purchased with credits. For water, variations such as waves and shoreline tiles can be made to give donators more eye candy to buy.

We should revive this game. I’ve found this game fun but it’s really boring having no one around.

Considering that when I go on the game I’m always the only one there, and there’s plenty of other MMOs on Kongregate that at least try, a revival probably won’t happen, alva_paladin.

Since plenty of suggestions have been made on ways to improve the game with not even so much as a glance from the developers, let’s stop making posts like this already.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Ninerift] Dec 2010 Update

You know, in spite of how unpopular this game is, I’m still hoping for more updates. With Halloween coming up soon, let’s hope that they will at least recycle whatever Halloween items there were last year.

As a side note, I think what would help improve relations between players and the developers of Ninerift would be, first, for the devs to make a thread here explaining the reason for their absence, and second, perhaps the news on whatever other projects they are working on. In my mind, I’m going “What do they have against Kongregate?” along with many other players, and they could address that thought also. If they left Kongregate for good, why didn’t they take their game down, seeing as it’s nowhere near complete? I hate to have to say this, but it’s now just a waste of space like all the other half-cooked ideas you see at the bottom of the listings.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Sacred Seasons 2 MMORPG] ALWAYS DCED

Everybody D/Cs on this game. It seems as though the game doesn’t even try to reestablish a connection once it’s lost. I do see that as a major flaw in the game. Really kills my motivation to play if I’m almost done with a dungeon and disconnect right before finishing.

I don’t remember such a quest. Can you find out who the quest giver was, and maybe provide the in-game quest description?

The regular players either left to play Fresbo World, made by the same creators, or they left for other games because Ninerift doesn’t get attention anymore.

I think it would be neat if some of the hair styles in the shop became available in the color black. And if hats were separate items from hair. For example, if the tiara on the Long Flowing Hair was a separate item, and if the Mountee Hat could be used over any hair type.

Also, I think the option to down-rate a home should be taken out. I predict it being used as a tool for harassment once the game becomes more popular, like fame is in Maple Story.

Additionally, people who are on the ignore list of a player can still enter that player’s house. Can we change that please?

I noticed that you can earn points by playing on the retro game console, but something else I noticed is called a “Points quota.” What is a points quota?

I really only suggested the 1 credit per day of logging in because I thought it would do more good than harm. It would encourage more page visits for one thing, which can generate more ad revenue if that applies. I also don’t see how it would discourage those who are able to purchase credits from doing so. The people who have the money to spend probably won’t find it worth their time to wait for weeks to get an item that they want when they can have it in one day. If it is foreseen that dummy accounts would become a problem, there’s plenty of options available for countering them.

Although this isn’t the kind of thing I want to argue is a necessity for the game, I do think it would smooth over some circumstances that new players may come across. For example, when I was new, I bought a package of trees thinking that I would make a garden to go with my in-game house, and that was before I realized that I couldn’t buy grass without credits. Things like that look kinda fishy and can turn off some players. On the other hand, giving free credits every now and then could help dissolve the impression that the game creators are trying to sucker players into making purchases they didn’t originally intend to make.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Ninerift] No points redeemed for trashing the tree blueprint

The description of the tree blueprint (the one that is acquired as a quest reward) indicates that it is worth 725 points when you trash it, if I remember correctly. So I trashed it and didn’t receive an increase in points. I thought I would mention this problem in case there is a bug that was unknown of. If it makes a difference, I was mining stones at the same time that I tried dragging the item to my trash bin.

I think a zoom option that’s halfway between the two extremes would be nice also. At the closest zoom level, my units tend to walk off the edge of the screen where I can’t heal them, but at the furthest zoom level, I can’t read the text on the game screen. I think having an extra zoom option would provide a solution for those problems.

One thing I’ve had trouble finding was a really detailed guide about the things I couldn’t figure out on my own in the game. The wiki really doesn’t have much information on it at all. I’d suggest expanding the wiki a bit more.

Also, there doesn’t seem to be any notifications that occur when someone adds you as a friend. Maybe one could be added?

And when returning things like stackers to your inventory from house edit mode, maybe the items could be made to auto-stack instead of taking up a new inventory space by default.

I know that credits have been a controversial issue, but maybe rewarding 1 credit for logging in each day would encourage players to check back more often.

So how do units go up a rank? Do they have “experience” that needs to be increased by fighting monsters, or is it something else? Also, which of the unit’s stats or abilities becomes more powerful when they do go up a rank?
