Without quoting the entirety of Superdupercat’s post above this, I strongly agree with the spirit of it as I was thinking along these same lines, although I hadn’t thought up nearly the detailed ideas he has. I’ve been thinking the last few days how “easy” NovaLode seems to me, since I’d only died once and it was due to something addressed somewhere above – I lost my connection during a seismic shift and relogged in (after Kong’s obligatory advertisement) as a corpse. I’m not complaining about the difficulty. I find NovaLode to be oddly relaxing and like stumbling upon that rich vein of… anything, really, regardless of its “value”. I’ll mine any block that isn’t colored like bedrock. But sometimes it’d be nice to shake things up a bit.

Last night I had something interesting happen in game that I hadn’t really expected. I got greedy, and thought I knew where I was on the mining level, but I was wrong. As the seismic shift timer was running down I was increasingly lost but eventually found my way to the exit… or at least I could see where it was. With about 10 seconds left I still wasn’t worried since I could now see the lift. And then my pick broke. And I laughed. Hadn’t planned for that, and I actually thought to myself, you know, I deserved this for getting greedy and trying to get those last few hits in. No way I could get to the uplink, buy a pick, then re-pick my way through the last few bedrocks, and sure enough, I’m now a clone. But it got me to thinking that this was just a nice sequence of events that just didn’t go my way – it would be even more intriguing to have random events like the ones Superdupercat detailed above to add to it.

I also died getting poisoned by three vitamin rocks in a row last night. Didn’t laugh at that one. Will be avoiding casinos until that run of luck passes.

Personally I’d be a fan of even minor changes that were more of a hassle to miners. For example, if I’m dumb enough to hit rocks with my bare hands after my pick breaks, it should do minor hp damage. Or make the mini-map, such as it is in the mines, unstable or inaccurate (or missing!) during seismic shifts, due to the unstable nature of the shift – that way I can’t just run around haphazardly without generally knowing my way out if a shift hits.

tl;dr +1 to making mining more hazardous and unpredictable.

We’ve added the search feature for fabrication bays to our list and are still intending to streamline that process a little.

Rather than a search feature, it would be handy to simply be able to click “Job” at the top of the column to alphabetize what’s in the Fabrication Bay. Either that, or always have it sorted alphabetically when it’s accessed. A search feature would additionally require “find next” or “find last” since the current listing is simply chronological from when a particular project was started. Alphabetizing the list makes it such that all the Ellipse Conductors will be nicely grouped together. Now granted, I seem to use a Bay that no one else uses, so my stuff is all that’s there, making alphabetizing it the simple answer. Perhaps it could also sort the list by Item Owner first, then Item, much like a typical spreadsheet.

I cringe every time I see how I’m using a Fabrication Bay as my own Personal Storage Unit, which just feels like an exploit somehow (for free, no less!) but I can’t see any other way to craft efficiently.

I don’t remember the exact day, but I think you already addressed the issue in your response to Galroth. I assumed that having “VIP” meant you get a 3rd building slot and a 3rd training slot. I didn’t know that unlike building slots the training slots accumulate to 4/4 and 5/5; I thought you would just get more time on #3.

As Galroth said, this was a VIP I won from Darkness spins. The original VIP I purchased a few months ago, but won VIP twice afterward (although I don’t remember on what day). Screenprint shows the remaining VIP time but you’ll see in the training ground that the training slots indicate 2/2.

VIP issue:

I still have 33 days remaining on my VIP (game shows 33 days remain on my 3rd building slot and my ability to choose a custom picture) but I’ve lost the third training slot in the dragon training grounds. It now says 2/2 and that I need to pay for 7 days (just as if I didn’t have VIP). I’ve tried refreshing but it didn’t come back. Seems like the last time I got VIP, I did it before the previous VIP expired, and while the build slots updated the time left, the training grounds didn’t (although I never actually checked it, just assumed it updated correctly too).

Ignore my post – refreshing the browser seems to have fixed this.

I got a VIP on the new server, Rio, but nothing happened. On other servers I’d immediately get an extra building slot and extra training slot. Is VIP activated on the new server yet?

I’d say this catch 22 is exactly my finding after playing a few sets of days after the update. I’ve begun to think that living in the Palace without a steady supply of tokens might now be impossible, since what few adventurers who now show up there each day still all ask for the top-of-the-line item in its class for their adventures (Apoc, Gungnir, etc), all of which require the rare mats. If I read the changes correctly, chance of success drops hard if you give them an items lesser than they request (and I have had all of my adventurers fail so far giving them the same suple dusts/perfect leathers, etc like I used to…), and now at the Palace everything I give them will obviously be a huge downgrade from the awesome item they’re asking for. Once I ran through my pre-update overstock of those items, and did not receive any rare mats in return, I entered the death spiral ShadowLight says here. I’d say 2/3 of the days I play now, I’ve lost money; obviously losing money when I have about 150 million is not an issue, but the motivation to want to continue in that environment is low.

If the intent here was to drive more token business, I can see the rationale, to acquire rare mats, etc. I’m one of several who might be stuck having used their 100 free tokens for other items, and cannot “re-spec” the 100 points I already have in adventurer into something now more potentially useful for the way I play the game. I don’t think the game is at all broken for those who have a steady supply of tokens, but for me, playing the “free” game, I doubt I’ll be able to progress further. If anyone has dropped down from the Palace to a lesser area to experiment with this I’d be curious to know how that worked out, may try that myself.

The suggestion about modifying rewards above too I think is a good one. I gave out a Sky Mantle for an adventurer and got back 65k. I can sometimes sell one outright for that… I’d say either adapt the loot table for successful adventurers (return more items or mats), or allow us to feed the adventurer to the monster’s relatives if all they return with is equivalent cash (esp if it’s a monk).
