Now this may have been thought of previous, but here goes.

When you build you deck, you get to designate one card in your deck that will appear in the first 3 cards. The limitation for this will be that you are the player who has to place the first card. all other card will be pulled as per the existing (random) system.

The person going second, will get cards per the existing system.
or
Their designated card has a slightly higher chance of appearing?

Topic: Faction Recruitment / Tyrants Club - lv 22 - Stable, mature faction. 3rd year of playing. More wars then any other team!

I need someone to take my place as I plan to retire from Tyrant (or so I hope). 2.5 years seems to have been a great run. But time commitments and a lack of updates (to the game) has finally prodded me to quit.

It’s a great group and there’s no stress (all fun). What more can you ask for?

When do you get to equip Ninja Skills (though I’m certain it’s currently bugged).

I turned level 118 and selected Ninja as my lass in the Class Tree. I then wentto the skills and bought the Caltrop skill (which shows in my skill inventory).

I am unable to equip this skill as it says I must be a Ninja. Do you have to advance to level 19 and select the first skill in the tree to be considered a Ninja? if so, then I shouldn’t be able to buy the skill. and, I did relog to see if that would help, it didn’t.

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / Faction War - Battle Viewer/Randomizer

Simple request, but it’d be wonderful to see what happens to your defense deck during faction wars. Perhaps being able to view the last 1, 5, 10, or all battles against your defense deck.

And/Or

Be ale to post multiple defense decks that the computer randomly chooses between. So I could opt to have 3 faction war defense decks and each one has a 33.33% chance of being fought against. if I only want 1 defense deck, then I only post 1 defense deck.

What they do need to fix is tourny bugs!

While the better deck will usually win out, there are many times where decks can be equally as powerful (and yes, this has worked in my favor when I go first) where you can play the right card to counter your opponents card. The only realy advantage I have had going first is when I play a good structure (like missile silo or tesla cannon) when i would normally hold off.

I guess I’d like to see a bit more fairness in deciding who goes first or maybe an option where if i went first last time, i can queue up for next available and decide if i want the first attack or I don’t care (assuming i went first last time). You can build your deck for 1st/2nd, but the randomness of the cards that appear may not give you the choice of the cards you want. Over time, i suspect it could even out, but that 75% was very alarming for me. i really thought it would be closer to 50% and it would just been my perception that was out of whack.

Now I’m not going to admit that I’m the best at tournaments and it seems that I have a tendency to going first (which rarely seems to help in sealed tournaments).

I wanted to eliminate confirmation bias, because deep down, each time we lose when we go first, we believe it’s because we had to reveal our hand too quickly. I know there are strategies that help (like not putting out 3-4 wait cards as your first card).

This topic, for me, is about determining how players go first (and maybe there is some trick to helping you out with that I’m not aware of, but the community is) sand is there a way for this to be research/fair.

I have tracked my last 300 sealed tournament battles (should be statistically significant enough) and I have gone first 221 out of 300 battles. That’s close to 75% of the time. I was hoping it was confirmation bias, but it may be otherwise.

So is it just too small a sample or am I missing something (besides a few more wins :)

The OP didn’t say to change any of the gameplay, but suggest reasons for keeping people in the game. If you want this ti be a social game, then guilds are going to be a reality (because you want them to feel invested in the game). And the fact that they have levels and upgrades lends itself to being more of a progressive game.

With a small development group, it might make sense to turn this into more of an action based game, but how do you keep people in it? They (developers) seem to be in the middle where the action is great and there’s free/open pvp. Perhaps they should move away from the leveling and more towards the action and make it tournament-style based. Turn it into a true action game where there’s a clean reset on ships and/or work progression in a slightly different means.

That isn’t so much me being good as them being bad.

There are plenty of factors. Primarily the pvp types usually come at you when you are farming and may already be weakened or you get hit with a full salvo of damage which puts you on the defensive. Also, some weaposn just plain stink at pvp and new players don’t necessarily know what’s good until they’ve played awhile. I saw a level 13 guy with gatling guns. That will win every time when you get to surprise an opponent.

Happened to Juggernauts as well. We had over a 6k lead and it still shows our win/loss and point totals, but says we have zero points and info/news says we lost. The war ended 55 minutes early.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Doom Forge] New feature: Trading

It looks great and seems very fast. Though, the trading definitely needs more information and a link to the actual item that shows stats (and quanity for those people selling potions) and cost would be a womderful addition.

What other features will be coming in a future release?
