I wouldn’t worry about it. He already said that it wouldn’t be available on Kongregate for another 3 months. If this was the ArmorGames website, I could understand this thread, but even if it launches there today, we wouldn’t be seeing it until July 4th.

I’m sure it will get badges everywhere. And the Steam version is apparently incorporating some ‘Unity’ features that the Kong and AG versions won’t have. It should be out this week on AG, here on Kong in June and then on Steam in October.

I don’t like Armor games all that much, but this game did the impossible: it got me to join that site, and to pay for a 2nd premium edition of GCL. The badges there aren’t as cool as the ones here, but there’s like a dozen of them, including having to play the first field enough times to get to Level 9 without going to the 2nd field. So now I’m playing GCL over there, figuring that I’d rather play GC2 over there instead of waiting 3 months until April here.

It’s been 2 weeks since Peter’s last blog post so I’m figuring GC2 will either be released within the next 2 weeks, or we’ll get another post saying it’s coming in February. After 2 years, I can wait 2 more weeks.

Interaction Fiction is usually written in its own language, such as TADS or INFORM 7. Neither of which are portable to Kongregate. Most text-adventure games get very low ratings on here, at any rate.

Some general tips if you are struggling: Put all settings on minimum except for armored waves. This way you won’t have to deal with giants or swarms if you’re not ready for them. 2) Make sure to click on ‘extend mana pool’ before sacrificing your wild gem, or you will lose some of it.

Specific to your question: 1) buy yellow and orange. 2) Build 3 walls, at the north, west, and south entrances to the middle square. 3) Put your first level-7 in a trap built at the east entrance to the middle square. Long as you don’t overbomb the summoning queue, no monsters will reach your orb. Just anger 20 monsters at first, to make sure you can handle them.

You should be able to build your first amp by level 6. Anger 24 monsters. Keep increasing building amps until you can anger 28. You should have 4 amps with at least a level 3 gem by wave 10, even if you stick with angering 24 monsters. You should have 6 amps of level 4 gems by wave 13, even if you skipped angering a wave or 2.

A few monsters may leak by. By the halfway point, level 18, you should have 6 level-5 gems in your amps. Try to extend your mana pool to at least 1.50 by this point. You want to be able to build a lightning shrine by the east entrance, in the top of the “H” intersection.

You will need to aim for a level 8 gem by wave 24. If you can’t do that right away, just increase two of your amps and make them level 6, then combine them, and add that to your level 7 gem. You can then have a level 9 gem by wave 28. This is enough to get you through level 36 and thus completion.

I did this without Premium, at a low level, so please don’t spam this thread if you have a level 12,000 wizard. This is for someone below level 250.

If you can’t win this game without premium, you stink. Without premium, you can easily reach level 250. That’s enough to beat every pylon level and win the game.

The only thing premium locks out on the map are two of the hidden corner squares. That’s it. You can still get 100 amulets, explore 167 fields, reach level 250, and easily win the game.

In fact, without premium I won the game without ever getting higher than a level 16 gem. Easy as pie.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / THE ONLY GUIDE YOU NEED

Don’t necro old threads from the first week of this game, then call them bull. It really just makes YOU Jevgenix look like a loser. This thread is 2 years old! There are plenty of updated threads on how to do this game right.

Personally, I only need 1 gem in one trap (surrounded by 6 amps) to easily get a level 35+ gem. In fact, if during a WGTF run and you don’t have a level 25 or so gem by wave 50, you’re doing it wrong. Around wave 50, you should easily be bombing 18 level 7 gems onto the summoning ticker. That’s roughly 792 monsters per wave, far earlier than your wave 90 example.

This sounds like an excellent idea. I especially like how you have made sure that 1) everything is balanced yet 2) everyone can nerf or min/max their own characters as much as they like. Blizzard could never do this, so if you have really spent 4 years pondering this, and how to solve it, then you will indeed have a winner.

I fully support this idea.

Topic: Game Design / text adventure

If you want to do a straight-up text adventure game, there are actual text-adventure programming languages you can use, such as INFORM 7 or TADS 3.

If you want to do a hybrid, such as a Choose-your-own-adventure game or a text RPG game with some music and sound, you can use FLASH. Here’s an example: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Pimgd/textrpg-the-rise-of-diablo?acomplete=text

Topic: Kingdoms CCG / Amorya

Hello. I am new here and just starting out. I have looked through all these pages and I don’t see any topics on leveling up heroes.

For example, what are some good suggestions on where to put my ‘stars’ for Amorya’s abilities?

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Monsters' Den Chronicles] What's in the Premium Content?

I bought the premium content. The original “Monster’s Den” gave me 4 years of enjoyment. And I think it gave me my first “Impossible” badge. So I suppose I did it out of loyalty to Garin more than anything else. Even so, it’s kind of fun to around with 4 mages or 4 clerics, just to see how it goes.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / Damage required for WGTF Completion

Just a general ‘thank you’ to you guys for this post. For a long time I’ve been avoiding clicking on WGTF, but now that I’ve figured out how to improve my traps so that I’m able to easily get high-level gems, I’m able to handle WGTF endurance.

for my first attempt, I created a level 34 gem. I admit this was overkill, but it also meant that the last 1100 or so waves zoomed by in very short order. And I gained 200 levels, so that’s nothing to sneeze at!

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / Stuck in Level 29

I started a brand-new game using one of my empty slots. After all, saying things like “redo levels!” doesn’t mean much if you’re not sure what you’re doing. So here are some specifics:

I did the first map, and I got to around mage-level 3. I invested 7 points in Focus and 7 in Replenish. Then I did the map again, moving a few battle settings down a notch: 20% more, 20% higher, +5 waves, and I clicked yes for “Banish Monsters Heal” and “Banished Monsters cost extra income.”

Once the game started, I ‘angered’ each wave once, so that I got +4 monsters per wave. (I did not do this all at once; I usually had to do it one wave at a time.) I angered the last few twice so that I could get the ‘60 waves summoned’ amulet.

After all this, I went from level 3… to level 4!

=========

Next I went to field H-13. Again, I had all the battle setting clicked to the second row, plus I clicked yes for both the banished monster boxes. I didn’t use any new skill points, because skill points are for chumps. And these guys were too tough for me to anger consistently. End result: Level 6!

=========

For F-13 I decided after some experimentation to do it with top-level battle settings, Focus and Replenish at 10 each and 1 pt in Forge and Construction. I rise up to mage Level 7. Once I am level 18, I will redo this map because then I will be able to put points into yellow multiple damage gems.

=========

for E-13 I decide to try +20% more, 20% higher, armored, +5 waves, BMH, BCHI. Focus and Replenish are at 12 each, and Forge is at 3, Construction 2. I’m able to anger all waves twice; I’m also able to destroy both monster nests. When I’m done, I’m exactly mage level 9.

=========

For the next map, F-12, I decide to keep all settings minimal. I always do this when cyan-colored ‘shock’ is involved. Later, I will redo all these F maps when I can successfully afford using a different color. I do this for roleplay reasons: my mage wields a magic ring that has a cyan-colored impurity in it. This being a roleplay level, I am still level 9 at the end of it.

========

for H-10, I move some of the settings down another notch, so that I’m fighting armored monsters and have +10 waves.
(armored and swarm give the same multiplier, but armored give way more mana and are easier to handle.) Even without angering, I am able to get a level 6 gem, and my mage is now level 10.

========

Just keep doing it like that… keep increasing the battle settings notch. If you wipe out, just lower one of the settings.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / What's your highest score in a field?

My highest score is 10852. And we are both at around ~1,400 wizard levels, so you’ve still got a ways to go to increase your efficiency and experience. I did a full endurance run on A4, everything except WGTF, and got all amulets. Final score was 24,505,754.

I’ve summoned 64 monsters in a single wave. nuh-uh.

so – – what am I doing wrong, please?

It’s working fine. Boot up any level, and summon 15 level 1 gems, and then anger the first wave. You should get both the “summon 60 monsters” amulet and the “50 in one wave” amulet at the same time.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / From an old comment on the blog

For the vast majority of players— the casual players, even if they have Premium— most will end up ‘beating’ the game around level 250 or so. At that low level, a gem of grade 24 is indeed where most will top out. (If you’re reading this, you’re probably not a casual player, so this doesn’t apply to you.)

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / Skill Point Tally

Ok, ignoring the off-topic trolls…

One thing I will definitely mention as far as Skill Points is that the bonus from Ritual forever goes up. This was when I was level 100: RITUAL costs 80 skill points to get to level 20. At that point, for every 5 battle amulets you own, initial mana and your mana pool increases by 1. As an example, your starting mana/mana pool would go from 1008/4032 to 1665/4689 if you had 3285 battle amulets. (3285 divided by 5 is 657.)

At level 200: With a base of 1554/6216, adding 80 points to focus only brings this up to 1734/6936, but adding it to RITUAL brings it up to 2782/7444.

So, for my money, this one skill alone is worth the price of Premium— which is 5 minutes of filling out some Kong surveys, for those of you too young to afford 5 bucks.

Yes, my save files are still there. :)

I simply lost the current map. Which was mildly annoying, but I simply had to run it again.

Yup, that’s it in a nut-shell. I’ve been playing this game for about 2 months and never had a problem before. But now I’m high-level and testing out various endurance strategies, and I was up around wave 235 or so and I think the game had a heart attack and died or something.

Well of course the Gemcraft is still there, but is my current map lost forever?

Victory is mine! :) Level 159, 122/141 amulets, and Fields explored: 169/169.

But I didn’t do it alone… I got lots of help and advice from you guys. All I did was put the time in, roughly 5 weeks. And I had Premium, which like it or hate it, makes the game much easier. ( I know this because I’m playing it non-Premium on Armor games and I’m still nowhere near finished. )

Go ahead and post if you too have also ‘won’ the game.
