No, but I think, based upon your other posts about leth fighters defending on pillars, that you would agree that PvP is somewhat broken in the game. Going for resources via pneb is an outreach of that for many people and it was a chance to actually get resources.

There are a number of things which are, in effect, exploits in the game that PM has zero problems with. I am still awaiting an answer about why this one drew specific interest. Here are a few exploits that PM could decide merit his attention:

- attack PvP phase on a pillar with fighters and then switch ships or heroes completely to do pillar attack phase with MS
- people creating alt accounts with huge army totals that normally defend low but show up with huge ship numbers to be hit by a few people
- people using COM gimps for pneb anyway and still creating huge pockets of easy prey for those who can go high enough. The only difference here is that they have higher army totals than before.

When people PvP everyone and their brother, it can have a negative effect on people overall. Get PvPed enough and you will be more likely to quit than to keep playing. More people quitting will have a negative impact overall. The thing that was great about the pneb was that it gave a PvP avenue to people who wanted it, provided good resources, and top tier people stopped farming (by and large) mid tier people. As mid tier people got farmed less, they gained more resources, got more confidence, and are likely to spend more on the game. Net effect of allowing the pneb “exploit” was that more people were happy, gaining more resources, and were more likely to play for longer. The longer people play the more likely they are to spend gold.

What did you accomplish PM?

PM, in a recent patch you did something to the phantom nebula (pneb) so that people could no longer easily put up fractional armies at high power levels in order “to prevent possible abuse.” The question I have is why? Is the idea that you don’t want people to get good PvP bonuses “unless they deserve it”?

You allow people to do a PvP phase with fighters and then pillar phase with MS or completely separate heroes. Why is that allowed but not pneb “juicing” so that you can gain a decent PvP reward? Almost everyone rests with leth fighters. Used to be that PvP was a fun time, but more and more people started using fighters for defense, and PvP became a chore. The pneb maneuver that people did was novel and allowed for some nice resource gains. Was the “abuse” that people could gain decent resources too easily? If the answer to that is yes, then please explain why that is a bad thing.

I’m genuinely looking for a serious reply.

Topic: Time World / anyone purposefully used leth to overcome repair skill?

If so, curious of your experience. If you had to do it over again, would you? Did you also equip leth on ships? What was your overall setup and how successful were you in your efforts?

For those who might not know, I recall either Neokryton or Verkade talking about leth and repair, that leth could kill some amount of ships even with 100% repair, because leth took effect after the repair did. Appreciate any correction if I am wrong.

the amount of leth you suffer from chapters and collect mission is a function of your army size in most cases. There is a max ship loss. More army = higher loss due to leth. Less army = lower ship loss due to leth. If you are able to hit 200M army with your regularly skilled heroes, then I would go 200M every time and exclusively use GrF. If you can only do so with COM gimps, then you have a real consideration. The fewer COM gimps, the better it is to go with GrF. The more COM gimps the better it is to go with MF, assuming, of course, that you can actually win. If you only use MF and can win, you will go longer without the need to rebuild, because your army size is lower. The skills in your heroes matter. I could beat everything in the game through 16.4 with MF and MF reinf. I couldn’t beat 16.5 without a GrF, and I used nothing GrF and GrF reinf thereafter.

Now that I got the topic started again, let’s ditch the stupid idea I proposed. I like the proposal of adding additional ranks of coupons with a bigger increase in the middle. Right now there is sometimes competition at the top, but the most reliable competition is in the middle. Increasing middle payouts would make those placements more fierce. Giving additional benefit to more people hitting. Adding a few coupon options at the end would also incentivize more. I like it.

Something else that PM kind of sort of did was allow a way for nonpillar-competitive galaxies to get coupons via the train option. I would tweak that as well. The concept of training for a pillar is good but not executed well at present. I would set some HP total to it and allow the galaxy to band together to kill it. If there is no payout for training other than the paltry 60 coupons per hit, then newer galaxies aren’t going to train much, if ever.

Why not just cut the pillar reset time to 12h instead of 24h? If you can do twice the number of pillars in a day, then AP is stretched thin, more galaxies have an opportunity to hit, and everyone gets more coupons.

In an effort to shake things up, I propose the following coupon change:

Add up all of the possible prizes for pillar places 1-7 and you get:
3K + 2.5K + 2K + 1.5K + 1K + 500 + 300 + 200 = 10K

This means that each pillar has a total of 10K coupons it can give out in prizes. What if, instead of strict position places, you got a percentage of those 10K coupons based upon your overall pillar damage as a galaxy? For example, if G42 did 400M pillar dmg of the total 550M pillar damage, it would get 400/550 72% of the coupons, or 7273 coupons. (note: I am speaking of adding up pillar dmg accrued over pillar runs, not actual pillar health totals)

In order to allow some fairness to come into it, your galaxy is capped at 21K coupons for the day. Therefore, once your galaxy hits 21M in coupons for the day, you gain no coupon reward benefit for killing a pillar (you would still get your 60 coupons per hit) and your damage to the pillars will still kill it, but will not factor into placement and subsequent awards for that day.

At first blush the proposal appears unfairly biased towards the top hitters, but with the coupon cap in place, it does a few things and actually encourages changed behavior and an interesting fairness.

1) Individual place on an overall pillar doesn’t matter as much as the damage you cause does. Your damage not only is never wasted, but it also limits the amount of coupons a rival can get. When you do more pillar damage, it actually reduces the amount of coupons a rival can claim. Consider if two galaxies are racing for first place, they still get great coupon totals regardless of which “place” they get. Just missing 1st doesn’t matter.

2) Once a galaxy caps out, and their damage can’t affect the rankings directly, it can affect them indirectly, and will allow smaller galaxies a chance to compete much more precisely for coupons. Assume one of G42, G2, G40, or G234 (bobster) decide to go all out in early pillars and hit a cap after 4-5 pillars. The remaining pillars are now the concentrated efforts of smaller galaxies, allowing them a chance to get a much higher slice of daily coupons than they would if they managed 5-6th place on every pillar. A little focused hitting goes a long way.

3) There is no reason to conserve AP under the change. Galaxies can max coupon gain at their earliest opportunity. Doing so means little to no reason to save AP. Once AP is out, either people are spending gold on AP to keep going, or that galaxies abilities to hit pillars is greatly diminished, allowing another galaxy to step in and have greater odds at higher pillar damage percentage, and thus more coupons.

4) If you also ensure pillar claims are unaffected, a galaxy who is already done with coupon awards can still kill a pillar quickly to claim, but since they don’t factor into pillar awards any more, the remaining damage divided among those still hitting will allow them to get a nice coupon percentage for less AP and damage spent.

There is always someone who will complain regardless of the setup. The only other workable system I can think of is whomever gets there first gets the prize, and the other person has to pass them. However, I am fine with the current system. If someone started the game early, then they get the benefit of continued patronage. That means that in most ties I will lose in rankings. PM picked a system and in at least one instance you are losing. It happens.

Topic: Time World / Random thoughts on chapters

It took me a few days once I got serious, but ch 16 wasn’t too bad with the right reinf. Granted, I would call myself a moderate golder and have been in major coupon galaxies for a well over a year. Regardless, good reinf go a long way and [plug] G42 has the very best [/plug].

With that shameless bit of propaganda out of the way… I am curious to see what happens in ch 17. In ch 16, there were 2 difficult subchapters… 16.5 and 16.9. I tried 16.5 with MF and MF reinf and couldn’t get past it, so I waited for a T7 and T7 reinf. It made a titanic difference. 16.5 win rate went up to around 65% and 16.9 win rate was much poorer, but I beat it in 3 solid attempts. After that I only lost one battle. Ship losses were massive along the way (ty p7 build links!), but the remaining subchapters themselves were easy.

Looking ahead to ch 17, I offer the following random thoughts. Ultimately I believe it comes down to reinf and dodge. My T7 and those of my reinf did the bulk of the dmg (reinf far more than me), and that damage would only happen if they proc’ed a repair/dodge or the enemy just missed. Either you proc’ed one of those two or you pretty much didn’t win. It also sucked in 16.9 when the stack of 3300 T4’s would multi first shot and kill ~50% of my army. Those attempts were invariably losses. I also “fondly” recall the time I dodged/repaired every shot first round in 16.9, killed all of the enemy T7 and all but 1 T6 and I still lost second round with a !@#%#%ing 3300 T4 stack multi. Ah, randomness…

Looking at what PM can possibly throw at us for 17, if we had a bunch of chapters like 16.5 and 16.9, and not just a few, it would blow chunks. Now that we are at a part of the game where people with gold heroes, lvl 10 everything, and maxed WAR can have some trouble, what is PM to do? I am apprehensive about what ch 17 will bring to the table.

Agree, and all there seriously unnecessary low level items, such as lvl35 blues in an auction, those should be in the mall.
An idea might be to make the 9 auction items reserved, for example that there is always 3 purples, 3 blues and 3 other items(vip, gems, skills etc)

I actually like this idea. It would let everyone know what to expect.

you’re getting a good reward if you beat the next chapter. Royal box can be potentially worth far more than the energy/credits. Be thankful that you’re getting a box reward at all.
