Topic: Realm Grinder / Ruby Bonuses/(Boni?) Analysis

What a strange way to justify your analysis. “One time I saw a high bonus, and even though I don’t remember the circumstances, I’ll use that as a benchmark.” I’m at 35% with elves right now at the end of R24, and 35% seems to be pretty much standard. As mentioned earlier, the RE gem upgrade is also a 1.5% bonus rather than 0.5%, so I’m pretty confident that RE is the way to go in the late game. Diplomacy (Economics 30) is what’s responsible for increasing the RE bonus, but I don’t think it’s a popular choice for any builds aside from low-research or slow ones.

Since we are talking numbers here, I’ll just say that a 1.5% bonus to RE when RE is 35% is a 4.3% bonus to production. It’s nice enough that after making this post, I decided to buy two of them for 3 gems (8.6% bonus overall), and I’ll save the rest for now.

The 90% are actually with titans , and R25 perk . R25 perk is +0.5% Re power per R , so at R25 it’s 12.5% , making base Re power of research factions 47.5% , reducing the first +1.5% to a 3.1% to prod .
And since titans are really strong currently in the meta for late game , well Re power’s not that great .
But all the ruby powers right now are pretty bad :/ .

Good point about the R25 bonus – I’d forgotten about that one. Still, if playing titans, that makes the total % after R25 around 90% (I guess?), and a 1.5% bonus is about a 1.8% bonus overall. So while it’s not as strong as it would be without titans/earlier reincarnations, it still seems like the best choice.

Topic: Tap Adventure / Missed Event Artifact

Luckily I was here on time and got the artifact, but I really was surprised/disappointed that the solution to a major problem ended up being an ‘event’. I hope the upgrade all button will be added as a regular feature soon, because it’s necessary to prevent this game from becoming too tedious. I get the feeling they’ve realized their mistake and will fix it on their own, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Finally, somebody posting with worse luck than mine.

Monkey: 12 EP. uncommon party dmg, epic self dmg, common self dmg
Clown: 8 EP rare self dmg, rare party dmg, uncommon gold

Really wanted at least a rare gold item, but it’s still better than nothing.

You can hang out there for a bit, but it’s not worth staying around long-term. Guaranteed chests aren’t that big of a deal later on. If you’re not really moving forward, but want to actively be doing something rather than leaving the game to idle, then reset as soon as you’ve completed whatever objective you were working on (if you haven’t already).

Topic: Crusaders of the Lost Idols / Come on. Give us a way to refresh quests or something.

If you turn on MouseKeys in your windows accessibility settings, the plus key (by default) on your number pad becomes a doubleclick (just a single click for this game, though), which can make clicking less annoying, or be combined with mouse clicks for double the clickage. Also click-o-rama counts as giving clicks, so just activate that once-in-a-while and you’ll get those done with zero manual clicks if you want.

That being said, I’m not too big of a fan of click quests either.

Definitely event chests imo, if you haven’t made a purchase yet, unless you already have blue dps/gold gear on the event characters.

Log out, refresh, log back in, and it should be back. If it somehow isn’t, try restarting your browser.

Yeah it has given me the pandas epic clover (100% gold) TWICE!

OTOH, i still have no epic +DPS items for either hermit or ww.
go figure

Beats having no epic clover at all. I still somehow have a white one, even though everyone’s enchant points are around 20-30.

Topic: Crusaders of the Lost Idols / Uh oh! Looks like something went wrong with the game! Please refresh.

Seems to be server issues – i.e., the devs have to sort it out. I’m having some problems too, as of this morning.

That being said, this community seems to be very prone to arguing and throwing around insults. It’s the first time I’ve seen things being this bad in a Kongregate forum.

Topic: Crusaders of the Lost Idols / Game runs like arse.

This game does start slowing down after a while on my rig, and it’s a pretty decent one. Feels like a combination of Flash being crappy and possibly bad optimization on the part of the developers. Could also be a Chrome thing – I honestly don’t know who to point the finger at, haha.

Topic: Realm Grinder / The major issue with realm grinder

Anywhere that you’re using LS, you can instead use Diamond Pickaxe. It’s less effective, but 0% random, and improves with excavations. Also if you leave your game running and perhaps use the drow bloodline while leaving everything on autocast, over a period of some hours, things should average out even with lightning strike’s randomness. I agree that trying to get a LS to manually hit something is an annoying way to play, so I generally avoid that. Currently I’m pretty close to hitting R14 with an evil build idle, so lightning isn’t the only way to make progress, even if it might technically be the best one.

Topic: Realm Grinder / At what time does it give you the option to soft reset?

Sounds like you might have read some out-of-date guide or post related to this game. Anywhere that you see mention of resetting or a “soft reset”, the new term is “Abdicate” and is on the “Save” tab.

The secret technique? Be nice, ask people in your chat room how to properly play the game and listen to them. As long as you aren’t an ass, you’ll find that the people here in Kongregate chat rooms are really nice (more so compared to YouTube comments sections). Thanks to people like cueballkev, Nartle, zaviamorpheus and a lot of other people in chat room 6, I’ve gotten to R1 and am grinding happily. The real key to this R0 is not your math skills, long-term planning and wiki-reading, but the people you talk to and the information they give. Be nice and you’ll be rewarded in kind.

I disagree, asking people about things is not as effective as gaining knowledge yourself, as some people don’t know what they’re talking about and pretend they do. The wiki and guides, math, and long-term planning present the player with straight facts that have been tested and proven to progress the player as efficiently as possible.

I’d say you’re both wrong, or both right, depending on how you look at it. Asking people is an excellent starting point, because all of the different numbers and percentages and stuff going on in this game make it a real challenge to get one’s bearings early on. Figuring out what you can bit by bit, then asking questions in chat when you’re not sure how something works or what a reasonable strategy is, is a great way to get the answers you need without having to scour the forums and wiki for information. However, as you’ve mentioned, information in chat isn’t perfect, and occasionally people can steer you in the wrong direction (not too often, though, since bs advice is likely to get called out by others in the chat), so eventually it makes sense to take the understanding gained through personal experience and helpful people in chat, and then go forth into the forums to perfect one’s understanding of the mechanics and choose strategies that now make sense rather than playing on blind faith alone.

Oh, but it should. It hasn’t been updated in lord knows how long. Most of the formulas are likely obsolete.

It says right at the top when the last update was (granted, it’s been a few weeks), and this is the only formula compendium I know of; if there’s another more active one somewhere, I’d certainly want to know about that. Some formulas changed since the last update, but certainly less than half of them.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Multitab Testing

I use a different browser for my test builds, and the main game stays in Chrome. Seeing as there’s no way to have any interaction between multiple instances of the game, and no multiplayer features in general, there’s no reason for the devs to take issue with running multiple games simultaneously. It’s a good way to test certain changes in builds over a long run too, or helping decide whether it’s best to abdicate or keep going by having one instance continue and another one abdicate, then compare the results in the future.

Topic: Realm Grinder / IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS !!

It makes me cringe when somebody thinks their suggestions are important just because they’re the ones who had them… Anyway,

1: You don’t need anything in the premium shop to succeed. There’s enough bonuses in the game that another one isn’t going to make or break anything for you.
2: I agree it’s kind of annoying as-is, but equality is much easier to get after resetting currently, while the “perfect” ones become much harder. Just find some time to get it done between updates. I’m currently taking care of my last one during reincarnation 13.
3: I’m sure they’ve thought about it before, and decided not to do it. I don’t really care much if they add it or not – I think the long ones are kind of unpleasant because anyone coming into a game and seeing a “play for 1 year” trophy might think twice about playing.

None of these suggestions are new or creative. You didn’t need a new topic for it, and I don’t think you even needed to post them since they’re probably in the “suggestions” thread already.

Some part of me is looking forward to the irony of people losing their save files due to the update that implements cloud storage. Realistically, the updates themselves have no reason to cause save files to be lost, and it’s the user’s computer or browser that’s doing something wrong. I’ve never lost my save file before, and I’ve been here pretty much since the beginning.

Don’t do it every 10 minutes lol, just let an ad play after 4 hours and be happy with your fat free bonus. Only use the mana one when you’re active and really need that comparatively small boost.

Topic: Realm Grinder / On maintaining the angelic bloodline bonus

Most growth-over-time builds that get used in the higher reincarnations use the angelic bloodline because it allows buying upgrades and casting spells manually, while still giving an ever-growing production bonus. Often, they strive to have mana generation of 40 per second in order to allow chain casting of combo strike with no downtime to lose the angelic bloodline bonus, and getting to 40 can be a bit of a problem.

However, 40 mana per second is totally unnecessary due to the way that the game treats autocasting. The game ‘ticks’ roughly every second, at which point spells on autocast are cast, bonuses get recalculated, and the game checks whether a spell is active in order to give the angelic bloodline a bonus or a penalty. That means you aren’t actually casting a new spell every 20 seconds (seems to be closer to every 21 seconds in my experience), but nether are you getting penalized for it. What this means is that the mana required to “continuously” cast a spell should be the spell cost divided by 21(ish) rather than by 20. That comes out to being just under 38.1 mana per second for combo strike. My current build is running 38.8 mps and is recasting it in a timely manner while even gaining a little mana over time.

As a word of mild warning, sometimes autocast will trigger a bit sooner or a bit later, so I’d recommend building up a little mana before leaving autocast on, particularly if you’re close to the probable edge of 38.1. Now you can spend less time on Foreplay, amirite?

tl;dr: 38.5ish mana per second > 40 mana per second for autocasting combo strike. Well, not strictly-speaking “better”, but equally good and easier to get to, haha.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Hall of Fame op?

The last upgrade in the series seems like it will be pretty intense (at 2250 HoLs), but I imagine few people are expected to be able to purchase it yet. By the time other building upgrades up to the 2200-2300 are added, it may seem a bit better-balanced, however.
