After walking some distance from the Humvees, Bright suddenly bends over in a coughing fit. Shit… that wound is throbbing something terrible. Clutching it, Bright not for the first time thinks he’s getting old. By now he is front of the library, and finds a man in an alert pose, either to flee or fight. he waves a hand at him to guarantee he has the man’s attention.
“Drop any weapons you have. Standard procedure. We’re here to… well, I’m just trying to keep as many people as possible alive, okay?” Again he doubles over in a coughing fit. Shit, I feel… like shit. He finds himself babbling “b-between the monsters… and the-the corpses… the death, the screaming… I don’t…” He clutches his head. “It’s not right. It’s just impossible to tell what’s what. Men, good men you’ve fought with, suddenly collapsing and… changing… and turning on us… killing us. It’s… nothing prepares you for this.” He looks at the man, with a slightly manic look in his eyes. “b-b-but what about you? Have you changed? is there… there something… mutating inside you!? Just waiting to burst out.” Suddenly he sees things clearer, at least in his eyes. Monsters. Noone’s safe. just waiting… to kill… His hand creeps onto his handgun, by habit. “Y’know,” he laughs, coldly. “Maybe they’re right. Maybe we should just… clean up them all. The… rescue team isn’t due until… oh, three days I think. Plenty of time to make their work… EASIER! What do you have to say to that… MONSTER!?”

Sargent Jason Bright not for the first or last time tonight curses his situation. Sent in on a simple cleanup operation with his unit, he thought he was in for fighting nutcases not armed with guns. He couldn’t have been more right; he was fighting deformed maniacs who don’t need guns. Wincing at a wound he had received on his arm shortly after first contact, he popped a fresh magazine into his assault rifle. The Humvee by now was approaching the group the gunner had spotted, and he was not looking forward to this.
“Stop.” he nudged the driver at around three metres from the group. The Humvee skidded to a halt, and Bright got out. He motioned for the two Humvees following to stop and cover the back. The gunner on the Humvee leaned on the emplacement lazily.
“What you gonna do sarge?” he says, nodding at the group beside the library.
“Nothing, Private. You just make sure nobody pounces us.” Turning towards the library, Bright gets a good luck of the group by the library. What a ragtag assembly. They don’t look like much trouble. Killing ’em quickly might be a mercy… he shakes his head. bah, screw that. I’ll go over. Even If I die it won’t mean much, I don’t know what we’re supposed to do either. Slinging the assault rifle’s strap over his shoulder he walks towards the group, come hell or high water.

Oh aye; I should have made that clearer. I did intend for it to be like that.
@ NinjaMaster131: I say a similar mafia done before. I wasn’t in it so I don’t know how it went, but people played it.
They also incorporated necromancers, special zombies and other stuff. I think zombies should have a very low chance of actually killing someone. Say we get 10 players, which is a good number, and we started with 1 zombie, the town could lose in just 4 nights.

april 24, 2013, afternoon that is early.
“Whoa, mate are you okay?” The postal dude appears to be having a panic attack. “Look, maybe we should just go inside?”
Meanwhile, within earshot.
“RIGHT FLANK!” Gunshots sound. “I’m out! Cody give me your weapon!” More gunshots. I look around wildly.
“What the hell…?”
“BEHIND YOU!” Gunshots followed by a short, animal like scream. “TAKE COVER!” I look at the rest of the group. Nearby something explodes. An engine starts, and a screech of tires is heard. Suddenly, a Humvee swerves into view across the street. There appears to be somebody on the back of it. The Humvee is heading straight for us. Behind them, two more Humvees follow behind it. The first one is close enough I can see a person is on the back… with a machine gun bolted to the car.
“Sarge I see someone!” My hearing picks up the gunner say to the driver.
“Uh….” I start, " I’m not staying outside in case they want target practice!" With that I turn tail and bolt into the library.
[Yes these guys are military, and yes they might shoot you… if they think you’re a danger. and yes they’re making a beeline for the library group.]

“I’m trying to think…” The man wiped his forehead of the sweat as he stared at his terrified accomplice. “If we make too much noise, it’ll notice us!”
“What do you mean? I’m sweating so much it’ll smell me first! AND IT DOESN’T HAVE MUCH OF A NOSE.” The man risked a peak through a crack in the door. Maybe it’s gone… A woman runs across the street, and suddenly is pounced on by… a monster. The man closes his eyes in time to avoid seeing her ripped apart. “What did you see?” The other guy asked, licking his lips nervously.
“It’s still there.”

not for the first time tonight, I curse my luck again. Slipping another shell into the shotgun in my hands, I glance at the Gardener. He seems okay, but is clutching a bloody bandage at his leg.
“So, remind me again… how that got loose?” I say to him, half keeping an ear out for the offending article.
“well,” The gardener starts, then stops to gasp a few breaths. “I’ve kept him on a chain after he was made… as an experiment. He was too wild, as you can see… to be left to his own devices. I can’t even communicate with him. I came out to feed… him as usual. And I had my box of chemicals, to put in his food to experiment. And I dropped the box. He snatched up a bottle of acid… and poured it on his chains. They dissolved, and the last thing I saw was him lunging at me before I woke up to see you.”
“You’re lucky to be alive. But how could chains hold THAT?”
“They were… not iron chains. some alloy… don’t know what… he couldn’t break them… but acid worked.” I peek around the edge of the wall we’re hiding behind, and spot the giant mantis feeding on a corpse. Easily the size of two men, with razor sharp limbs. The thing has been rampaging through the area, carefully avoiding the gates or patrols. It was a good thing I was still in the area.
“How do we kill it?” The gardener tilts his head and looks at me.
“Damned if I know.”
