PS, it is the same on refines. When I go to refine, it says a number like 10m 20s, then when I actually refine it is 20m 40s, so neither timer works.

Topic: Pocket Starships / BUG list

This bug is kind of game breaking. I started playing the game and was enjoying it immensely, so I decided to support it by spending a few kreds on the game. I purchased the production hero package to help give me a bit of a boost and to catch up with some of the longer term players. At first it seemed to work because when I clicked to produce something, the time it says is in half. Nano nukes for 1h 30m for example. When I produce though, it jumps up to the normal 3h. Makes it a bit useless to spend kreds right?

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Nova Raider] Suggestion: The buddy buzz

So, I was discussing this with a few others the other day and it seems like a brilliant idea. Right now, this game is near unplayable in the browser. There is so much to it that few can fit it on one screen and even if you could, there are lag issues when you do not have it in full screen. The issue with it being in full screen is that you cannot see chats and thus if you are needed to help with a boss or something, it is hard for people to get a hold of you. For this reason, I would like to suggest that you make a ‘buddy buzz’. The basic idea is that you have to add someone to your friends to be able to use it. Once they have friended you, if you need to speak to that person, you can find them on your friends list and ‘buzz’ them. This would emit a sound over their buddy’s speaker to get their attention. All you would need is to unique select a sound for the buzz to play, so when someone is buzzed they know a friend is calling them to chat and that it is not a random game sound. This would make communication in the game much simpler and help the ‘mmo’ aspect a great deal. I hope you guys consider this and thanks!

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Hirudo Works Too Well

Most the time I just ignore Hirudo. 90% of the time, I just fly right past it as if it isn’t even there and play my game around the Hirudo. I can usually escape/avoid the hirudo so it doesn’t bother me and I usually can’t hurt it, so I don’t bother me. In all my games, I may have been killed by a hirudo five times, but I also may have killed five hirudo so really it just irons out. I do think it needs a small nerf, but I wouldn’t say it is greatly superior to other ships. A bad player feeds with Hirudo, a good player owns with Hirudo. On that same note, that can be said with any ship.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Surrendering and Players That Are Trolling

So, Masa. Your complaint is that you cannot torture and farm noobs who have no chance of winning? If that doesn’t say something about what kind of player you are..

Just saying, when you are on a bad team that is impossible to win with, you want to surrender. If the surrender option was not there, people would just quit, so it will still have the same results really. This way, at least it doesn’t allow people to exploit games where everyone but one noob feeder had quit, so people pad their bang by farming that one person over and over again.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Ratingsystem lol

I’ve always said that the ranking should be counted on kills, assists, structure kills, and wins while deaths and losses can take it down. I also think it should be reset every week when the new free ships are put up, that way everyone has a chance to rank rather than relying on lifetime. Consistently good players would rank high every time while players who just play over and over again to rack up stats for the leaderboards may rank differently every week. I think it would be a more fun/competitive system.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] 4 things which make this game fail.

I agree with Sango’s comment and have been guilty of it more than I’d like. I enjoy playing with a lot of new players, so I do not mean to seem uninviting of new players. At the same time, you have the new players that consistently feed the enemy team and basically cripple your games, which is a flaw in the matchmaking system. New players (20 games or less) should be paired with other new players, I think. This gives new players a chance to learn the game in live mode so people aren’t so annoyed by those who are going 1-20. The fact is, most players who go 1-20 play one match and never play again, thus completely crippling their team for a match. It’s kinda like troll playing and is had not to complain about. That said, I think a lot of people complain too much. It’s one thing to complain about feeders, it’s another to complain about every noob. “Oh, that guy went 3-5 and my team lost, it’s that noob’s fault.” I see too much of that and think it could be cut back on.

That said, ninja’s annoy me as well, but I do not think they are OP’d. I would be happy to see them nerfed, but it is a strategy in the game and I think removing it would just remove another element in the gameplay and I would hate to see that. A good ninja can change a game and make it more interesting. I’ve been both victim and benefactor of it and I enjoy it when it helps, hate it when I lose to it.

I agree with jabber in some cases, but not everyone can play Jabber. I can’t play Jabber for the life of me. I also think there are other ships that I still find more OP than jabber and anyone can play those ships. (Hiru anyone?)

I disagree with the teaming. I’ve immensely enjoyed pairing with other players recently. it has led to balancing of games and I’ve been winning around 50% of my matches and haven’t had any real blowouts in any and I think that is what the match making system should do. I think some people do still abuse the teaming and only pair with high ranks, but I’ve mostly been pairing with friends just to have fun, which includes several unranked players and a player who just got ranked. The only high ranked players I’ve played with since the new team system came out is Luciella and we were friends back before there was any teaming. So yeah, it’s a blessing and a curse, but it’s something I’m willing to deal with. I’ll lose a few games, but it’s worth it to play with people I enjoy playing with.

Finally, I agree and disagree with the leaderboards. I agree that not everyone at the top should be at the top (myself included as I am not a top player). That said, I do not agree that “exploiters” are at the top. A few players aren’t as good 1v1 as the rankings show, but they are great team players. You complain saying that “pairing two top players is unfair” and then said “only the top exploiters are on top of the leaderboard”, which really contradicts yourself. I agree that the leaderboards aren’t perfect, but I do think the players in the top 50 or so are the best players in the game, regardless of how you rank them. I’ve played with/against most of them and they know what they are doing. I do agree there are leaderboard errors though. Right now it is based on only wins, but I think that it should be based on everything. Kills, assists, structure kills, wins, losses, deaths, ect. It would make for a better layout and show real team players and not just those with good teams.

Overall, your points are sound and I partially agree with all of them. That said, I don’t think they are worth quitting over. I’ll continue to enjoy this game for as long as it is around. I’ve never played with/against you or even seen you in a match, so I’m not sure how good of a player you were but I hate to see any player leave. This game can’t afford to lose too many more. Still, have fun with whatever you are doing and good luck.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Official - Team Feature will be disabled next update

When there is on average 100 players in this game at any one time, 50 or so being noobs, the other 50 returning players, 30 is around middle of the pack.

And actually, that is exactly the problem keynup. That is why the matchmaking is flawed as a whole because really, a rank 10 player isn’t that much better than a rank 40-50 players and in some cases can be worse. As a result, when the matchmaking tries to balance it out by ranking, you end up with one decent to good player against three. As I said, I’m not complaining because of losing matches, I’m complaining because matchmaking is so flawed that I would have to lose 30 or so games before the matchmaking starts putting a second decent player on my team. This is why i am in support of reducing teams to two players per team, that way there are more teams, matchmaking can balance easier, and no player will be left completely shafted because of the matchmaking system.

Well, to answer your question: I dropped roughly 30 elo points earlier playing solo. I teamed with two other players and worked my way back up. Teaming was the only saving grace that kept me from dropping completely. Still, this has nothing to do with rank.

The fact is, this is a team game. Each player is only as good as their team is and I myself am not one of the best. I think I am a middle of the pack player, roughly ranked 30ish. I am a decent player, not a great player. That leads to my problem. The way the rating system is now, I am forced into matches where I am facing against several other decent players and put with a bunch of no ranked players because I am high ranked. This is a flaw in itself. To be honest, I’ve completely stopped playing because I will have to lose roughly 20-30 games in a row before I get to where the matchmaking is putting me in games where my team has a chance to win. I am not a good individual player, but a team player who does everything possible to push my team to a win, but a single player cannot win a game by themselves. My complaints have nothing to do with the rankings because I admit I should be nowhere near ranked where I am, that is a fact. In that same mindset though, it will now be impossible for me to enjoy the game because of the sheer amount of games I will have to lose just to get semibalanced teams again once the team function is removed.

That said, I spoke to EndgamesRyan earlier about it and he admitted that the mathematical algorithms in the matchmaking was flawed, which is causing exactly what I am complaining about here. One of the Devs admitted to this issue and said they are working on upgrading the algorithms, so really it’s pointless to argue about.

I would second the 2 man teams as well. As it is, removing teams will cripple anyone in the top 20. It is nearly impossible to play for a top player because of the match making system. As it is, I would have to lose roughly 20 games in a row before I get matched with players of any decent skill. Until then, it will be me +4 players who have no idea what they are doing vs 5 decent players, making an unbalanced match that is not winnable for the one good player. One player cannot win a match alone. This is a team game, you need a good team to win, not a good individual.

Not every game is, just every game I’ve played since the new matchmaking system was released. I have not won a single game solo since the new match making release came out despite being positive and wiping out most the enemy base solo in every game. When I team, even with a single person I have not lost. Give me ONE good player and I’m happy. Myself and luciella teamed yesterday, just the two of us and were good. I’m not asking for loaded teams, I’m asking for more balance.

Masa, the best player this game has despite what the rankings say, said it best. The new matchmaking system punishes the better players. It is one of the main reasons he quit because he could not win matches where he was virtually alone. Like I said, if we have this new match making system, teams or at least PAIRS are almost required for higher ranked players. Otherwise we lose every match. When your team is a combined 21-43 and one player is 18-0 by herself, there is something wrong. I wouldn’t mind if it were just one game, but this is consistent. Every game I’ve played solo, I’ve died 0-1 times and have had 8+ kills, plus have gotten around 120+ B! a match from destroying turrets/batteries/emitters and still i lose because of the players the flawed match making system works.

Then again, I wouldn’t even mind that. I wouldn’t mind the losses because of how well I’m playing, but the new ranking system is completely based on wins and losses it seems. I can have a perfect game and lose and lose 10 elo points, but I can have a bad game and win and get 3-5 elo points. The game is no longer based on the skills of individual players, so high ranked players being shoved into these bad matchmaking situations is punished the high ranks because they simply cannot win a match alone. Something has to give. Either keep teams, but reduce it to where you can only team with one other player, reset the matchmaking to where it was originally to give everyone a fighting chance, OR change the ranking system back. That would mean I would drop 30-40 ranks, but then at least I would have fun because I wouldn’t have to worry about losing due to bad teams. I could simply do well in the game and be fine. Right now, it’s lose-lose for anyone who is good at this game.

I think that if you are going to remove teams, then you need to remove the “searching for equally ranked players” matchmaking as well. I am in the top 10 and as anyone in the top 10 knows, the match making is broken. How the match making balances teams for us is the following:

Team 1:
Top 10 player
Unranked player with Ops
Unranked player with Ops
Fresh player with no Ops
Fresh player with no Ops

Team 2:
Rank 20-50 player
Rank 20-50 player
Rank 20-50 player
Rank 50-100 player
Fresh player with no Ops

Nearly every game I have played since the new matchmaking system has come out with a setup almost exactly like this. It things because I am a top 10 player, matching me with noobs and throwing a bunch of good to decent players on the other side is balanced. It isn’t. One player can only do so much. You can ask anyone in the top 10 and some even in the top 20, the matchmaking always does this which basically means when teams leave, we will lose pretty much every other match without a challenge to the other team. In my last four games, I have completely soloed the other team’s base, wiping out every turret and most of their batteries/emitters by myself. I’ve also been the only positive player on my team. Then I lose because I have no less than 3 players on my team with 10+ deaths. I’ve been told in each game that without me, the game would have been a pushover, but as I said. A single player can only do so much.

In short, I agree teams are broken and likely should be removed because of balancing issues, but! If you are going to remove it, remove the new matchmaking system as well.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Star Supremacy] Suggestions and Rants

Well, I was excited about this game. In fact, I was really enjoying it for what it was: a browser based sci-fi war game. Then I realized the battle cruiser took 788 hours to research..Which is 32 days..Not to mention it costs 6,000,000 coins..And at the slow rate that your resource income increases, it would take forever to save up that much…Not to mention you need another 109 hours to research the cruiser first..So even if you manage to (in the next two years) to save up enough to build the prerequisite buildings for the cruiser and battle cruiser, it would take you almost a month and a half to get it researched..Sorry, but tiny bit ridiculous. it really shows how money hungry this company is because no one will sit and wait that long for one thing to research. They will be forced the purchase speed ups and even then, you’d have to spend like $10 just to get the research down to 100 hours or so. Just saying..Tiny rant. >.>
