I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to discuss in the cafeteria, what my partner and I got up to in ‘bedroom gymnastics’ the previous night. Perhaps you do, but most people allude to it, they don’t ‘frequently talk about it’, nor talk in any real level of detail.

Who said anything about what you do in the bedroom? There’s a lot more than being married/in a long term relationship than that. I find it interesting that your mind automatically goes to sex.

Have you ever asked someone if they were married? Ever heard someone mention that they have a husband or wife? Or mention that they’re planning on going on vacation for their anniversary? A gay person could lose their entire military career over something like that.

Before some moron jumps on and says anything stupid as usual, it’s not that I have a problem with gays, we all know there are some in the military, I just don’t see why they need to make it known. WHO CARES IF YOU ARE GAY.

So, if you were dating or married to someone of the opposite sex, you’d have no problem with never telling anyone about it, right? You’d be cool if you lost your job over it? After all, who cares if you’re straight? Why would you want to make your sexuality so obvious by admitting that you have heterosexual relationships, or might even choose to have a family with someone of the opposite sex?

Being gay isn’t something that just affects you in your private time. Just like being straight, it affects your choice of spouse, how you start a family, etc. And these are things that often come up in conversation. We’re not talking about people choosing to be out just for the sake of it, we’re talking about people being able to be honest about basic parts of their lives that everyone else frequently talks about.
