I think the three recent scandals have been so politicized out of proportion. There were tons of embassy attacks under Bush where 13 Americans died, did their lives mean anything? Not to mention the fact that house Republicans voted to cut embassy security in 2011, nobody seems to mention that. As for the IRS and AP scandals however, i do believe those are actual problems that should be looked into, but the politicization of Benghazi is a joke.

You listed some interesting concepts. I am an atheist and the biggest thing that drove me away from Christianity, which I was indoctrinated into, is the hypocrisy of the system. My mom and dad made me go to church every week, even though my mom would half the time never show up or come late. My parents fought a lot as I grew up and it took a toll on me and it slowly became apparent to me that my parents weren’t true Christians. Yet they still went to church everyday, probably more of an image thing.

There are so many people today that I think don’t understand Jesus’s actual intended messages. The offering plate gets handed around at my church every week. They are now renovating their sanctuary for a tremendous amount of money, most of which probably went directly to the church from weekly donations. The major decisions of Christianity weren’t even discussed until the Council of Nicaea at about 325 AD, about 300 years after the supposed death of Jesus. If there is one thing that I can agree with you on, it’s that the idea of Christianity has been ruined by men. I hear that the bible is the ultimate source of truth, directly written by the hands of God himself. But there are a lot of problems when this book gets misinterpreted by men.

I’m just wondering, do you think homophobic Christians are really going to heaven? For a man like Jesus who believed so much in equality, who knows, maybe Jesus just lived out of historical context. I feel as if the true soon of God would believe in equality towards all people regardless of race, gender, nationality and sexual identity.

Lots of people claim that they know Jesus and live by him everyday, but many of them aren’t bright enough to look at the stupidity that they preach and how un-Jesus like it really is.

This is the main argument that really got me thinking that maybe, there is no God.

Imagine God exists and he is fair and just. In fact he is the fairest, most equal force every conceived in the Universe. This very fair God creates humans and around the Earth, everyday. He borns people into different geographical regions which are for the most part, separated by different religions. Say for a moment you were not born in a Christian nation like you were, (im guessing you were born in a primarily Christian country like America or Europe somewhere), but you were born into Iran. If you are born in Iran, you are most likely going to become a Muslim. You praise Allah everyday and claim Muhammad is the last prophet. There is practically no chance you will every become a Christian. You will be born into Islam and die a Muslim. You will go to hell because a Christian God judged you and saw you did not believe in Jesus Christ.

You have to understand there are good people in this world. Good Muslims, atheists, Christians, Buddhists, agnostics, Jews. and if they do not believe in Jesus Christ you believe they will go to hell. Well personally, I believe that a just and fair God would not allow good people to go to hell even if they were born on the wrong side of the globe. I’m willing to take that bet that I won’t go to hell because if there really is a God that is jealous and unfair, I would rather go to hell then worship him.

So I am now an atheist. My atheistic beliefs were reinforced by history and science. The Crusades killed millions of people and it was a Christian doing. They believed if they died trying to retake the holy city they would go to heaven.

In this modern day and age, it is foolish to believe that the world is 6000 years old. We continue to refine carbon dating which shows the world is approximately 4 billion years old.

There is tons of other scientific evidence that would suggest there is no higher power or deity. Many of the original creations myths in the bible have different (in some cases, older) variations that basically interchange the names (ex. noahs ark).

Hope you got a different perspective from this post and hopefully some good discussion comes form it.

God doesn’t exist. However I do believe the flying spaghetti monster exists. I have no empirical evidence to prove it, but I know she exists because i believe in her (yes, the flying spaghetti monster is in fact a goddess).

But seriously, I guess the biggest reason I don’t believe God exists is not even that but I cannot believe that a God that is just and fair in every way would born us into different geographical locations with different religions, ultimately we are indoctrined into those religions and are essentially saved if we are born in a Christian nation (like the U.S.) and burn in hell if we have no access to the Christian religion (born in some sort of tribal village or a middle eastern country). That’s a really brief definition but I have to go.

I played no-one-has-to-die recently and I really liked the game, it was very simplistic but had a great story and deeper meaning to the whole thing. I am looking for games like this on Kongregate. Any suggestions?

I’m taking a religions class and my professor says that the Old testament was extremely patriarchal so most of the women weren’t mentioned unless they actually made a difference or taught a story (eg. Eve). So I guess technically you can think of it literally but when it comes to family trees and stuff some parts might be left out.

It depends a lot on what you want. I personally have used Madtracker, LMMS, and Ableton. They all have their pros and cons. If you want simplicity I would use a tracker, otherwise, go for one of the bigger “drag and drops” like FL, Ableton, of if you want to use a free one, LMMS.

The most commonly used bible verse in retaliation to homosexuality is the one below. Notice how it is located in the book of Leviticus, the third book of the bible which is located in the Old Testament.

I haven’t done in depth research on the other 5 or 6 verses in the bible referring to homosexuality, but as far as I know the one above is the most condemning verse.

I am quite curious why you are allowed to condemn homosexuality and not shaving.

I think paper is going to be around for awhile longer still. It is hardly extinct. We will know its extinct when really important documents (eg birth certificates) are completely electronic.

I fully support Gay Marriage and here’s why.
I understand that you might be Christian. I understand that many Christians condemn homosexuality (even though it was only condemned in the old testament, the same part of the bible that says you can’t eat pork, can’t shave, and other laws that most modern day Christians would consider irrelevant today).

Although I’m an atheist, I was raised in a Christian household by my mother and father, whom I am very thankful for and love very much. However, I had friends who’s parents were divorced. I had friends who’s parents passed away earlier then expected. It is my opinion that two loving parents of the same gender can raise children just as well as two loving parents that happen to be opposite genders. (I have no empirical evidence to prove this, yet the studies I have seen so far in this thread I have found to be extremely biased).

More importantly, it is an issue of equality.

I know that you may have strong Christian beliefs. I know that you think that homosexuality is a “sin” (although it is generally accepted that you cannot choose your sexuality). However, I don’t think we’re being fair to homosexuals by denying them the same marriage rites that a heterosexual couple can have.

I don’t care if 99.99% of the American population is Christian, and wants to deny the rights of the .01%. America was founded on the principals as a place where all people can be equal. A place where all people can keep their own beliefs while still coexisting. If we have the right to religious freedom in this country, and if you believe that marriage is a rite of religion, then homosexuals should be allowed to marry in the United States.

I agree completely that doctors/psychologists should not make false claims to gain more test time. ADHD can be a really difficult thing to define and I’m sure some kids just acted crazy just to make it look like they had it. Some people argue that ADHD doesn’t even exist.
But back to the point, it is completely unfair that people are abusing the system. At the same time, the test should have extended time for those who actually need it. I have no idea how this could be accomplished.
I remember taking the ACT. My parents made me take it three times, and although I did study here and there, my score didn’t improve (but I did exceptionally well and reached my goal).

Completely agree. I would argue that Imposing slavery and religion onto blacks while simultaneously taking them away from their families and culture is not one of the best things that could happen to them.
