No, it is assumed that there is tap damage, otherwise it would just be a front shot, if you shoot someones front then the tap damage is weaker, but the explosion occurs behind them so that damage is higher.

10 minutes was a joke, it probably takes a few days to get an idea of what the map is like and in what way it is unique to other maps in the game, a few days to a few weeks for any textures and/or extra models needed, then another few days to really plan it out, maybe a day or two to actually make it, and few days to test it and make sure its balanced for both teams.

as far as I know rank doesn’t affect anything in-game, just shows how much you’ve played (in that it takes a lot of exp to reach the higher ranks, master sergeant is 200 and sergeant major is 500)

I think a freerangegames poster joked in another topic about purposely making their game derivative and boring (sarcastically, mind you). I feel like Achievements falls into the derivative column. I don’t need a badge that says I got a 10-kill streak to feel good about the streak, to prove to anyone else that I did it, or to make getting a 10-kill streak a goal. Once you insert these virtual rewards into games, suddenly every game has them, and they seem to lose meaning.

As a carrot, dangling in front of players, it works to keep them working hard on the gerbil wheel, striving to get that next milestone, but I believe that if your game is fun to play, those carrots are unnecessary.

Now a cash or xp reward for skilled game-play, I wouldn’t turn down. It would offer a skilled player who is stuck on a losing uncoordinated team at least some reward for individual performance. But I guess some people really need their gold-star sticker to show the rest of the class what a good boy or girl they are. ;)

I disagree, I think its a good idea for a game to have achievements, it prolongs the play time life, and gives an incentive to play as other classes for class-specific achievements, especially nice if you get a little exp and cash for each achievement.

if its too high, spend 50 cash to spawn instantly, respawns higher than 25 seconds are pretty rare since they are meant to sync up with the respawns of other dead teammates, in such a way that the ones that are dead spawn at around the same time, playing a 6v6 game will probably have lower respawn times.

1. kind of but you need to adapt to your surroundings and the threats around you, above the healpoint (not on it) is where I tend to camp, with my teams side exit to my immediate right/left for quick escapes

2. you don’t need to enter that mode, I usually don’t unless its against another sniper and I fired 1 shot before, hoping he aims at my head and that my ducking will make him miss.

3. I’ve played lots of games with lots of scouts and while it is difficult it isn’t impossible, gunners get the highest k/d which while it might not help you win directly it takes a while for enemies to respawn again, every single game I’ve been in either a scout or a gunner was #1 in kills and usually its a gunner.

yeah, it is annoying, but so what? there are many annoying things in games, this one is just a fair tactic given the limitations of the map, when I snipe people I tend to camp around the side exits, so I can run and get the health pack when noticing the impending doom of a possible death

on the flip side, I’ve seen scouts use it (and they can get to it as quick as.. a scout) and anyone who is close enough and aware of their surroundings would, it would be …unwise… not to, plus that extra pinch of salty annoyance when your body is halfway through the barrier and you get killed makes it fair for both sides.

scout vs gunner is pretty even, the turning points are nades and surprising the gunner (of if the gunner, shooting the scout before it melees you)

Every class seems balanced in their own ways, but sniping someone to death is just too easy, especially if they are already distracted, all you have to do is camp and be (roughly) aware of the position of every enemy player on the battlefield so as to not get surprised, not exactly difficult

2-3 shots is enough for most players, tanks are a bit of a mess to deal with so I usually run away to the other side of the map, in a full 6 vs 6 game I’ve gotten 40 kills with 8 deaths, the sniper should be nerfed a little bit, I’d suggest a slightly longer reload.

I don’t think there really is a need for the gunner to have an r-move, it’s pretty powerful as it is, anything I can come up with will just make it that much better.

there are 3 benefits to having 2 HQ’s:

1. you can attack with more than 9 soldiers, meaning an unlucky 0 luck against militia doesn’t result in you having to waste another 9 turns to take out the remaining 1 or 2 HP of a building
2. they are cheaper to repair, a level 6 HQ costs 6 or 7K while a level 9 HQ costs 23k,so in total it costs half as much.
3. all buildings have 9 HP regardless of their level, so for an attacker to disable you from attacking they have to knock out 2 HQ’s, twice as many turns and battles.

yeah.. I get nuked a lot, NG doesn’t like me very much, and I already have an armory so that would be pointless.

Update

XxxMayro21xxX has just joined ZS.

ZS was the unofficial acronym of the Zero Syndicate, but now it is official, thread title updated.

we now have an IRC server, but I don’t expect it to get much use, its mainly just there if we need it.

some members of ZS haven’t been living up to one of the requirements, requirement #2:

“Active in the chat, in the game, and in attacking.”

Mikolajwisnia, jugador1, neko_chan13, dracus, RageQuitGaming and zanit.

Miko, jugador, neko and dracus are players I’ve never met (except dracus for a few minutes), the 4 of them should head to chat room 2 and spend some time in there.

RageQuitGaming is there sometimes, but not often enough.

zanit is there most of the time, but never speaks.

I think Smokescreem is active, but it seems he spends most of his time in chat room 1, which means we can’t communicate effectively.

if in a few days nothing changes, most of the people above will end up being removed from ZS, members that can’t communicate are worthless.

so far ZS hasn’t been very coordinated, I’d like that to change, starting tomorrow we will begin regular attacks on NG’s top researchers, there is a link to the research hit list in this threads first post.

There is also a favour I need to ask of every ZS member, I’ll tell you about it in a whisper.
