Topic: General Gaming / [Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems!] What is so great about this game?

This game in my opinion is absolutely one of the best.

But on Kong a game is the best based on rating. If a real long maze building TD is released, some people like it very much. But they can only give it 5 stars. While others really don’t like TD games like these and rate it 1 star. So on average it has a much lower rating. This game will be rated 4 or 5 star amongst all player. TD-lovers and players that are not into TD games. It’s enjoyable for everyone.

If you would have a rating system only among TD-lovers, probably this game wouldn’t be ranked #1.

Also a great + for this game is that you can’t do anything wrong. You can’t upgrade the wrong skill. If you fail al level you still get XP and get better. So in the end everyone can play it. In some TD games people get stuck early. People who get stuck in level 5 out of 600 will probably rate it 1/5. In this game, eventually everybody can finish it. Therefore many people keep playing until they do, and rate it high.

Topic: General Gaming / [Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems!] Anyone else think this is massively overrated?

This game is popular because it’s for everyone.
It’s not very long so you everybody is able to finish it. Games like gemcraft takes ages. My favourite game on the site Mardek took me like 100 hours to finish the impossible badge… that’s a lot of time wasted. Not everybody will do that, especially on a TD game which is more or less the same every level.
Furthermore everybody can finish this game. You can try to finish the game with little upgrades, but if your not tactical or don’t want to be, you can just level up untill your strong enough. Some players finish the game when they are level 40 and have all the skills maximized, while other finish it way earlier. Some other TD games are so hard that many players quit soon and rate it 1/5.
Also some say you have too few different towers in this game. But when you play other games the options are so big that you have to play a long time to get to know them all. And eventually only a few towers or tower sequences are used.
Another big adventage is the many ways you can finish a level. The topic starter claims that the high tiles are to good, that’s true you have to use them, but still you have to built many more towers and it can be done in many ways. Also the skills, first I never used Frenzy for examble, while other claim it’s the best skill. And it’s good when I tried it later. When you play a game like gemcraft, there’s often only one way to finish it. If you have to built a maze it’s just juggling. And if you don’t have to juggle there’s often only one way to built the best maze. Many players end up searching for a walkthrough. For this game walkthrough’s are useless, because there’s no optimal solution in any level. There are many way’s and it just depends on the player’s preferences.

This game is number 1 because it’s for every one. It might not be the most challenging TD game, but not everybody likes towerdefense games. It’s challenging enough to enjoy for a while, but not that challenging that many players quit after a few minutes. I like TD games, and even then, this is my favourite. Because it’s short and can be played in many different ways. Therefore I think the replayability is way higher than on other TD games. I played this one and it’s sequal both like 20 times. There’s no other TD game I played more than once.

I finished the game being level 22, and I’m sure it’s possible to finish faster.

Level 22 means only 63 skill points out of 120.

So there’s absolutely no need to maximize all skills. This was even one of the complaints by many. That if you wanted to max all skills you had to play a long time, even after you’ve got all brilliant.

Another tip for the absolute noobs like the topic starter… There is an upgrade to deal with stealty; just get a orc den and upgrade it, soon you will get a firerate fast enough to hit every ninja immediately after it enters the screen. In most levels they will be visable far before the gems. The ninja bosses are harder, so just send a meteor shower on them by holding SHIFT.

If you guys just use shift when sending meteor, you’ll fire up to 5 meteors at once. This is also mentioned in the discription.

You guys are just too lazy to read. When using this, ninja bosses are not that hard.

Teleport back is most useless skill. The game is called “Don’t TOUCH my gems”… If they don’t touch your gems, you don’t need tot teleport them back. Therefore your skillpoints could better be used on another skill. The same as lose hp while carrying gem, useless, especially when further in the game. Therefore the demon upgade path is the worst in the game. Most skills are useless. The only good thing are the Meteor spell and the extra XP, and those you can get in the beginning.

The best tower in the beginning is obviousley the Crypt. There insane range is very handy, especially when you have limited cash and thus only a few towers. But when the game advances crypt are not that good anymore. They steal xp from all other towers, and do to little damage on large groups. Especially ninja’s. Den’s on the other end are only getting better. Especially when their range increases due to upgrading the blue path. By only using Den’s (and spells) every level is rather easy. The only tricky one is level 14. By only using crypts or temples its impossible.

Finishing the game with only using orcish dens is easy… doing this with another tower is way harder or even impossible… therefore orc den’s are the best…
