Topic: Rise of Champions / 4 warriors OP

Surely those Warriors aren’t very fast, and they must have very little Mana. Some ideas for you:

1. Gang up on a single Warrior at a time. With decent Speed you might be able to have every party member landing 2 attacks each on a single Warrior. Stacking Burn and Bleed will take one down with ease, even through massive Life Regen.

2. Since they’re all Warriors, you can boost your front row Physical and Melee defenses (every Class has a skill like this) to ensure that when they do hit you, they will deal very little damage. Casting Vile Insult with a fast Warrior will also help. And because they will probably be very slow, you can boost defense with your front row and use a back row Mage to Heal in between attacking.

3. Stun them to prevent attacking. A fast, powerful Warrior with Bludgeon will ensure that a very slow enemy will be completely unable to attack for several turns! (Though I’m assuming that the enemies are super slow if they have such staggering Health).

4. Deplete their Mana with Poison attacks. Rogue’s Toxic Bomb and the Poison buff will ensure that when enemy Warriors finally get their turn they will be unable to buff themselves or use their strongest attacks.

I think the Devs wanted to give players something to look at while their game was loading. On the other hand, the team preview does not even list enemies’ total HP and Mana, so we always end up hovering over lifebars at the beginning of every match anyway. I like your solution. :)

Can you reveal (preferably in game in the future) how stat points contribute to total stats? Like, exactly how many points of Health does a Warrior get with 1 point of Constitution, and then what about the Mage and Rogue? This would help for theorycrafting our characters before respeccing.

After much testing (at around level 14 – 15), it is clear that the Firestorm strategy relies heavily on a huge speed investment. Without that first turn advantage a front-line Mage can be beaten by two Rogues, or one-shotted by a Dagger Rogue, which ruins the entire strategy and leaves you defenseless.

Maxing out speed leaves your Mages dealing about 310 damage to everything but Warriors. Most people seem to have Mages and Rogues with around 350 life.

You can deal around 350 damage by replacing some speed gear with damage gear, and using a team of Mages with 37 speed and between 80 – 90 damage (with crafted gear). However, this ruins your chances of outspeeding your opponent. A balanced team with a Rogue and a fast Mage can team up to kill one of your Mages before you can begin your Firestorm chain.

Overall, I’m beginning to see that Firestorm Mages aren’t that OP but still something to be prepared for. At least until I can craft damage + speed gear!

It’s pretty obvious that some players, when they see your team preview and know they can’t win, just refresh their page to preserve their ranking and waste your time! >.<

Devs, please implement a system to punish these players and reward those who’ve wasted their time on the “Graphics loaded!” screen.

Zivert: Thanks for the help. :) I agree the game has a long way to go for perfect balance, and I have faith in the devs. Good suggestions there! What if they made it so you couldn’t attack the back row on your first turn? That would remove the Mage threat and make melee more relevant.

Rogues: Enough Str for your best gear, and everything else into Agl.

Tank Warrior: Enough Str for your best gear, and everything else into Cons. You can also put half the points into Agl so you make use of Buffing and Debuffing, while the rest of your party attacks.

Melee Warrior: Enough Str for your best gear, and most everything else into Agl. Maybe some more into Str.

Mages: Enough Mag for best gear, and most everything else into Agl. If you wanna use the very powerful spells you can put a few points into Willpower. With +3 points (14 total) you reach 84 mana.

Note that “best gear” requires about 25 stat points at Player Level 14. But honestly, your own experience is more important because I don’t know what sort of team you wanna make and what items you have. Mages with HP above 360 tend to give me some trouble too, so maxing Agl isn’t always the optimal idea. Learn from your losses and just respec. It’s pretty cheap anyway.

Basically, survive the first wave of Firestorms by being faster and using Magic Defence buffs. Then Heal your tanky Warrior and make a comeback…

Problem is, Rogues would be dead easily, and tanky Warriors aren’t fast enough to get a move in time to kill an enemy Mage. So it’s still 2 or 3 vs. 4 buffed Mages. Seems very OP right now.

Do you ever lose, honestly? :P

Blazing Weapons > Firestorm > Firestorm > Firestorm!

Instantly annihilates everything but tanky Warriors.

Got no advice for finding a guild (it’s tough!).

As for winning at around level 13, the strategy seems to be like this:
- Mages for damage, Warriors for tanking. Rogues can fit multiple roles but they’re mainly for annoyance. Dagger rogues are kinda useless.
- Stack Damage and Speed gear for Mages and Rogues. Warriors need Health and Health Regen.
- You might want to Respec your team. Mages and Rogues need mostly Agility, but don’t forget to put points into Magic and Strength (respectively) to equip your best gear. Warriors need only Constitution, with enough points into Strength for best gear. At this level you will need about 25 Magic/Strength for the best gear.
- Take out your opponents Ranged units first, preferably Mages. Concentrate on killing them one at a time, so you have fewer opponents each turn.
- Warriors have very little role in battle, but they defend your back-liners from powerful melee units who can one-shot your Mage. They can also buff your allies to defend against Arrows. So it’s a good idea to carry one for insurance.
- If you lack good gear, have a go at Enchanting.

Topic: Rise of Champions / suggestion : spell cooldown

Certain spells would function better (ie. more balanced / more useful) with a cooldown rather than a Mana cost. The Warrior’s Mend Wounds in particular is useless for curing poison because of its 20 Mana cost. But if it was a free, cooldown skill instead of a Mana skill it would be mad useful.

Would be better to have a number of progress goals active at once. Right now I’m waiting in vain for new Torch Codes when I should be raking in the rewards from everything else I’m completing. Bit unfair when some of the goals are completely beyond your control and they block all the other ones.

I had 106 skulls. I bought a Skull Pack for 50, and wanted to buy again… but suddently I only had 6 skulls left! :S 50 skulls are suddenly missing…

ALSO:
I levelled up to Immortal, but the bar just reset and stayed on Acolyte. I didn’t get the reward or anything! >.<
