Kreds Discussion
Kong will be divided into two groups. People who can win a game and people who can afford to lose. Kind of diminishes my card collection achievement though =( Anyway, Neopets already did this a few years ago. The game will be free to play but if you pay a “small small” amount and you get special things, special virtual prizes, and free avatars that the common people don’t. I learned to deal since honestly the “virtual prizes” usually aren’t that great and it really doesn’t effect us personally if some dude wants to spend his money on some fake pixels on a game site. It won’t effect our games or our profile. I know personally I earned all 78 cards myself without having to buy them. I do hope though that this isn’t a slippery slop that means that kong will turn into an “optional” pay site in the future. Not saying it will, just hoping it won’t.
If you’re playing a multiplayer game and some really terrible kid is your opponent it can chafe to know he bought that special one hit kill gun with mommies credit card whereas you have now have to play extra hard to get it and as an adult who has to work and can’t advance as fast you’d like it can suck. Like I said it’s not bothering me, I really couldn’t care less about the people who pay for virtual stuff. I’m just making a point that I can understand some of the arguments people are making.

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
You are assuming something is universally bad even when it may not be
Once again, I’m going by what doctors and researchers say. They really are the authority on medicine and the human body.
and then taking it upon yourself to assume for everyone else that they should not want or need to take it.
Like me saying that kids should not take drugs? Or that being drug addicted is a bad thing?
Add MJ because broad inconsistencies in our drug policy actually harm users…
Users of the drug you mean? Don’t do it and our drug policy won’t harm you is all I can think of to say.
On that note I think I’ll retire from this particular topic. Since I seem to be the only one on the keep drugs legal side and I’ve kind of posted all my arguments and opinions and I’ll end up just repeating myself again and again.
All I will say is do your own research. If you’re 13 and you truly believe that you’ll be okay doing this stuff then only the cops can stop you I guess. Hopefully at 19 you’ll have got it out of your system and any damage is reversible. Then when you have kids you can just tell them it’s bad and who knows, maybe they’ll listen.

You are making the same type of argument, a flawed one at that.
How so? How is that “opinion” compare to my I don’t want kids to do drugs so they should be illegal argument?
Being legal does not imply 100% A-OK. Alcohol and tobacco are regulated heavily because they are NOT fine.
So add more drugs because they are also not fine?

Consider this example: Black people are inferior and they are aggressive and hurt white people. Therefore, their freedom should not be legal.
What? That’s just really silly and has nothing to do with anything I’ve said.

Do some freaking research and don’t rely on anecdotes please.
I have and I’m not. The opinions of doctors and scientists trump those of stoners and potheads when it comes to actual medicine and the human body.

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
What would that be?
Probably because they are harmful and dangerous but I couldn’t say the reason behind each and every drug. I’m sure there was different medical justification for each particular one.
The person making the case for something to be made legal has to have the more convincing argument. Nobody is stopping them from making the argument but the person making the case for changing a law or series of laws has to prove that their cause is indeed the most logical. I had to google the phrase Argumentum ad verecundiam as I’d never heard it before. I think I answered it correctly but I just skimmed the definition. So you’ll have to excuse me if I didn’t.

Semantics.
Not really. I mean society already deemed these things illegal for a pretty good reason. The people who want them legal have to make the bigger and better argument. I’m not trying to change laws.

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
I’m sure the generations between the 1960s and now have stopped their pot consumption.
No, I said “who maybe will have more common sense.” Hopefully is a better word I guess.
Harmless substances? Yes.
Some people will say that pot is harmless. Doctors will not. Some people will say that alcohol is harmless. The people who get by drunk drivers will not.

By keeping it illegal, are they magically going to stop doing pot anyways?
Stoners are stoners and won’t stop legal or illegal. I’m talking future generations who maybe will have more common sense.
What about Alcohol? Should that be illegal too? Because all of the alcoholics who sit around drinking and nothing else?
I don’t know, I think making something legal illegal is a different issue. But will society be a better place when even more substances are legal?

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
And why exactly is this?
I thought I answered that with my numerous posts. But I see that is not so. Since I quit smoking a friend told me that I got somewhat preachy. Perhaps that’s all it is. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe we should just legalize all drugs so nothing is a crime anymore and everything that was once bad is now socially acceptable.

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
Have you read any links I have posted?
No I haven’t. They must be a few pages back and I missed them.
Kris – I’m sincerely sorry to hear about your loved one, but I’m willing to bet that the drug wasn’t marijuana.
No it wasn’t. But for all the people that just stay pot heads how many move on and try harder things?
And the answer to your question is education.
But that doesn’t really work the majority of the time. I’m going to guess by using the word loser I personally offended some people on this forum. I would like to ask how many of them had a DARE program of some sort. I saw the pictures of the lungs with cancer and black with tar and I still smoked. How many kids will have a chance when their parents are smoking a blunt in front of them and telling it them it’s bad.
I think I’m having trouble putting what I’m trying to say across. We don’t have a choice with the legal stuff. Society tells kids that being a drunk is fine and being addicted to tobacco is fine just by virtue of being legal. Well now being a stoner is supposed to be fine as well? Being unable to live your life without help from a drug of any sort is not supposed to be fine. We are not supposed to be teaching our kids that being anesthetized is okay. And saying it won’t be legal for kids means nothing when it’s primarily the kids who are going to do it.
Right now society is saying “NO.” If we legalize it then society is saying “YES.” If it gets legalizes then we are condoning it and making it okay. When it’s not and shouldn’t be.
This would have been here a lot sooner but I’m babysitting a baby at the moment haha.

She. And I’m not talking about hemp. I’m talking about the proven effects of THC on the human body. Proven by researchers and doctors.

Why Do People Take Illegal Drugs?
As far as I know, there isn’t a single justifiable argument for making marijuana illegal while tobacco and alcohol are legal.
My only point was that we as a society condone alcohol and tobacco abuse. But wouldn’t making any other drug legal be possibly condoning drug addiction? How do we tell our kids that drugs are bad for them and will hurt them if you can walk into a store and buy them and smoke a blunt in front of your kids legally?
God, I feel like Helen Lovejoy screaming “won’t somebody please think of the children.” But that’s who I’m worried about. We are supposed to be telling our kids to stay away from pot and other drugs but how do we do this when our society is condoning the use of them?
I’m not saying everyone who smokes pot is intelligent and mature, I’m just saying you can’t really put a label on people because they did something as petty as smoking pot.
Sorry, I do know that. I watched someone I love almost die from a drug addiction and it’s hard for me not to label people sometimes. But you do present a valid point and some of the people on the list did indeed surprise me. Some did not haha.

What, you disagree? Would you like a list?
God no. You bring out a list and I’ll bring out a counter list of non intelligent non mature people who smoke pot and so on and so forth. I’ll just take your word for it since you already posted an example above. I don’t think we need lists and lists of great people and crappy people. I will only say that “famous” does not imply intelligent or mature.
I’m not usually stuck-up about grammar, but this pissed me off to no end.
Which is exactly why I’ve been making typing mistakes. Extremely pissed off and just wanting to get a response in quickly. The editing comes in later.
