Malayang, you’re quite simply wrong. If you look at our plays/day, Kong and AG are extremely close. Our intention is to destroy Blue as soon as we take command. Once we assume control of Red, we’ll have a de facto alliance with both Green and the two largest player clans as well as a truce with Yellow in the west.

For those who’re not in Aka and who don’t want to reset, you can still be useful to us by relaying information from other clans’ chats to our Kong chat.

Topic: Straw Hat Samurai: Duels / Best build?

1. We’re (slowly) working on fixing the wiki, but it’s basically wrong about everything because the old players care more about their roleplay than any actual numbers or information. So, assume everything on the wiki is wrong unless you ask for confirmation in Kong chat.

2. The build I recommend, for any stance, is “Cap Attack, Cap Health, 35 Speed, 25 Defense”. Health and Attack are obviously the two most valuable stats. The speed is at that specific number because, with ideal equipment, it’s the minimum required to hit the .5 cooldown modifier cap. Defense is a stat dump; due to its ability to be ignored by piercing damage and Chi/Ninja skills, it’s mostly worthless. You shouldn’t put points into AP at all, and any Chi you need will be easily gotten by equipment.

3. For PVE, you want to use the lightest stance you can while still one-hitting trash mobs. For PVP, you will want to prestige several times and use a (ridiculously powerful) ninja/chi skill build.

The story is fluff. In the long run, this is just a game of numbers and tenuous alliances.

Topic: Straw Hat Samurai: Duels / State of the Clan War

Ooh. A throwaway alt.

Kong has a long history of beating ArmorGames, Facebook, Newgrounds, and more or less any other gaming portal when it comes to even remotely organized competition; from our repeated wins in War of the Web to immediately rising to dominance in Redshift, Galaxy Online, Wartune, and plenty of others, we’ve shown that Kong’s organization and numbers are able to overcome any competition from other sites.

Regarding Honoshihai: We have a handful of members in the group already; there is no plan to ‘take them over’. We’re working closely with them, and some of their members have been incredibly helpful in teaching our members tips and tricks of the game.

Regarding Aka: Yes, their current state is pretty pathetic. We’ve been negotiating on their behalf and relaying battle plans. Until we’re able to get a few generals in the group (Or to take direct command), we wont be able to organize them enough to restore the clan to power.

Regarding Ki Sensu: While I’d love for Kong to take the clan over, it’s not likely. I’ve already discussed a truce with Wrath, which should take effect when a few conditions are met.

Regarding Aoi: With a lot of ArmorGames players joining up with them, our intention is to push them all the way back to their diplomatic territories.

Regarding Midori: I’ve seen how Alucard is. Despite being a prickly (heh) character, he seems to be at least somewhat interested in keeping green afloat. By bolstering his numbers, we think Kong will be able to help him keep green stable and possibly expand in their current areas of power.

Edit: For those who don’t know, my IGN is “Vainglory”.

Topic: Straw Hat Samurai: Duels / State of the Clan War

This thread will give a short description of the clans that currently hold territory on the world map, as well as comments and plans for them.

GREENS (Midori)

The greens are currently one of the two most powerful story clans. We were previously having Kong members join it, so that we can eventually assume direct control of it and use it as a primary front against the other major clans. It currently has enough Kong influence, so further Kong players are asked to join Red.

REDS (Aka)

The reds are doing terribly, to say the least. The weakest of the story clans, they were nearly wiped off the map a while back, and are still being beaten on by the other major clans due to their inability to properly defend themselves.

Due to their severely weakened state, it will be extremely easy for a handful of Kong players to join and assume control over this faction. All Kong players who are not already in a clan are asked to join Red. Once this faction is under our control, it will likely be useful for attacking small player clans.

YELLOWS (Ki)

The yellows are currently the most powerful story clan. They are large, powerful, and have a pretty strong central leadership. It would be very difficult for Kong to seize control over this clan. Luckily, we’re currently not in any direct confrontations with them. If they do become aggressive, we’ll likely need to have Kong members in all of the various clans work to create a multi-clan counterattack on them.

BLUES (Aoi)

The blues are the weakest non-destroyed story clan, but are very aggressive. Blues are full of players from Facebook and ArmorGames, our enemies, and a large portion of them seem to be Spanish/Portuguese. One of our top priorities, as Kong players, should be to take them down. A decent number of players would be required to assume control of the clan, and we will almost certainly have to take them down from the outside rather than the inside.

OTHER BLUES (Honoshihai)

Several of our more active members are joining this clan. Because this is a player clan, it costs 5 gold per invite sent and we aren’t able to invite the full Kong force to it. As we see people being active in chat, we will begin moving our more active members over to this group. This group will primarily be used to take out particularly troublesome enemies and fortify an area of the map that it important to our PVE players.

If you wish for an invite to this group, leave a post in this thread or talk to me in chat. I can’t promise how soon we’ll get you in, but if you stay active it shouldn’t be long.

THESE GUYS

Yeah. They have a few territories scattered around, but they seem pretty weak. As a player clan, they’ve got relatively few members. They’re currently just trying to take over unclaimed areas; if they got into a fight with one of the major clans, they’d probably be crushed. Ignore for now.

THESE OTHER GUYS

This is a second player clan allied with our primary one. They’re relatively small at the moment, but are a friendly.

THIS GUY (Blood Lotus)

This one’s even funnier. It’s one guy, with one square, who has been shit-talking the major clans. Watch how hard he gets rolled over the next few days. It’ll be funny.

THE AI

This one you can’t join, which is a shame since they took the most pirate-esque flag. This represents bandits rising to power… They’re so weak that they’re pretty much free squares to whoever bothers attacking them.

It’s been added. You can now buy orange scrolls at the peddler for 1000 coins. “Use” the scroll and drag an item up to revert it to level 1.

I can see why people would want to keep it at max level, but I also agree that it’d be very nice if we had the option to reset its level when we rebirth.

The best option, in my opinion, would be to make it so that any soul-infused gear you have equipped when you rebirth would reset, while that stored in the bank would not.

2. While I still disagree about defense, I’ll be running defense/attack/hp after rebirth just to see how it does. The presence of piercing damage as an affix is the primary thing that makes me question its usefulness— In addition to cooldown skills bypassing defense and stance advantage pushing enemy attacks higher. From what I’ve seen PVP is heavily reliant on one-hit-kill builds.

4. I am aware orange items are very good— My point was that at 80 they’re not necessarily the best, since you could get better rolls on found items. Also, I am told that when you rebirth they currently don’t drop back down to level 1, meaning you’d need to buy/earn a new set of oranges after each rebirth.

5. I definitely agree that Light Stance is the best assuming a high level of skill, but not for new players or those who will be farming PVE to level.

Topic: Straw Hat Samurai: Duels / Kong Players: Basics and World Battle

Just a heads-up to other Kong players, we are on a shared game with players from Facebook, ArmorGames, and who-knows-where-else.

As far as early gameplay goes:

1. As soon as possible, you should get Scavenge level 2 under the Survival tree. This allows you to auto-sell junk items. You can also increase inventory and coin caps with skills in the Survival tree.

2. I advise not putting stat points into defense. You will gain a large amount from equipment and there are damage forms which bypass it.

3. Follow the story, it offers great XP and introductions to a few mission/dungeon types. It should last you into the 30-40 range.

4. The orange items in the store are not necessarily the best. You can find items with similar or even better stats as loot. The advantage of orange items is that they level with you. You can also get them, and gold, free as you progress.

5. Focusing on Light Stance makes the game early easy on. The further you progress, the more you will want to focus on balanced, and then heavy. Chi skills have long cooldowns and are of limited PVP use, so it may be advisable to save them until you unlock the elemental skill trees.

6. At level 80, you can rebirth. This gives you 25 gold, access to elemental skills, and the ability to level up again in order to gain 80 more skillpoints.

7. If you have any questions, ask in Kong chat.

Catface’s Build Suggestion:

Put points into attack until you hit its cap (10+level), then dump the rest of your points into health and speed. Speed increases line length and drops skill cooldown.

Regarding the AP system:

Yes, it’s kinda-sorta an energy system; it will not, however, prevent you from playing. Each battle costs 1-2 AP, and when you are out of AP you will take a (severe) stat penalty in combat. You can instantly restore all of your AP by sleeping in an inn. Silver is abundant enough that you should always be able to afford to rest, even after meeting other costs.

Auto-Slash is your friend. Enable auto-slash. Love auto-slash.

This button is in the top left of your screen during battle. When enabled, your character will automatically fight with basic movements and slashes, including launches and executes if unlocked. This will allow you to grind faster or focus on skill-casting if needed. Additionally, you can press space to quickly toggle stances if your focus bar is full enough.

EDITED EDIT: THE EDITENING:

For the time being, we’re asking all Kong players to join up with the red faction. Once you have been around for a while and gotten an understanding of the game and the clan battle system, we will get you invited into the smaller and more organized closed group. We would open our gates to everyone, but the game charges 5 gold per invite to private clans.

Yeah, this sounds like a pretty standard “I did everything that you should never do, and something bad happened”.

I’d suggest just getting rid of advertisements in general. Rarely, if ever, do they advertise anything worth looking into, especially on Kong where the vast majority are for generic pay2win facebook games.

Specifically what about MOBAs makes them suck? (I already know the answer to that, but I’d like to hear your answer) Because Heroes of the Storm tries pretty hard to take most of the suck out of the genre.

Also, ITT: Too many cats.

I hate match-based games in general, especially those without persistent character upgrades or those where you have to hop between characters to change up playstyle… Not to mention the almost-inevitable attempts at gaining money by selling “not” overpowered new characters.

Gravy, despite being himself, is actually somewhat right. Abuse and harassment are the only way to keep a chat room under the control of its regs. Bonus points if a mod-turned-reg joins in and eliminates those who fight back.

Topic: Redshift / Arena Feedback

I absolutely despise the fleet point cap. I’m not much of an arena person in general, but putting a (potential) cap based on the lower player is a real slap in the face when the entire game is based around vertical progression.

Artificial balancing is just… Bad.

Also 49ers, are you speaking of Smogon? They ban everything. xP

And there are numerous other reasons for bans and they all serve one purpose: to ensure better balancing in the singles metagame.

Bans like this exist purely to protect one group’s preferred meta from that of others. There is no build that is is not highly vulnerable to another in the base game, these limits exist as a way to try to force everyone into the same style of build.

Topic: Redshift / [CLOSED] Help us out with a review.

Right. I normally avoid mobile games, since they tend to be microtransaction-heavy or “pay2win” games. Redshift is somewhat surprising in that everything in the game (That I am aware of, anyway) can be earned simply by playing the game. The lack of an “energy” system allows for those with more free time than free money to remain competitive in the game. It’s also worth noting than unlike many mobile games, the developers will sometimes join the game and chat with the players— This kind of community interaction is very good to see.

All in all, I hope that Redshift keeps up with its current free to play model and resists the urge to expand the premium content. Right now the game is a model of what a simple, fun mobile game should be: entertaining graphics, an easy to understand UI, and a quite reasonable RNG. Additionally, the upcoming ability to link accounts between the various available platforms will allow for easy access to the game at home, work, or on a mobile device.
