I absolutely despise the fleet point cap. I’m not much of an arena person in general, but putting a (potential) cap based on the lower player is a real slap in the face when the entire game is based around vertical progression.

Artificial balancing is just… Bad.

Also 49ers, are you speaking of Smogon? They ban everything. xP

And there are numerous other reasons for bans and they all serve one purpose: to ensure better balancing in the singles metagame.

Bans like this exist purely to protect one group’s preferred meta from that of others. There is no build that is is not highly vulnerable to another in the base game, these limits exist as a way to try to force everyone into the same style of build.

Topic: Redshift / [CLOSED] Help us out with a review.

Right. I normally avoid mobile games, since they tend to be microtransaction-heavy or “pay2win” games. Redshift is somewhat surprising in that everything in the game (That I am aware of, anyway) can be earned simply by playing the game. The lack of an “energy” system allows for those with more free time than free money to remain competitive in the game. It’s also worth noting than unlike many mobile games, the developers will sometimes join the game and chat with the players— This kind of community interaction is very good to see.

All in all, I hope that Redshift keeps up with its current free to play model and resists the urge to expand the premium content. Right now the game is a model of what a simple, fun mobile game should be: entertaining graphics, an easy to understand UI, and a quite reasonable RNG. Additionally, the upcoming ability to link accounts between the various available platforms will allow for easy access to the game at home, work, or on a mobile device.

Topic: Kongregate / Help me to help you. (Feedback needed)

It’s like you’re trying to sell one of those “Self Help” book clones that all spout a bunch of meaningless nonsense and positive outlook bullshit with little real content.

Actually, that’s exactly what you’re trying to do. I can’t imagine that wanting to communicate with people off-site is anything other than an attempt to either get money out of them or otherwise sucker them into benefiting you. That, combined with your attempts to make the setup sound exclusive (And, making the “sample video” limited time) makes this entire setup sound really shady.

Topic: Technical Support / Ghost Game Message Notifications

Been getting more ghost messages the past week or two, decided to test 123’s suggestion. Just wiped my block list, will update later.

Still though, I’d suggest keeping this bumped until there’s a confirmed fix for the nonsense.

If people will almost always be opposed to (unnecessary) change, perhaps they should stop changing things (that don’t need to be changed).

Those ‘ghost’ game messages still haven’t been fixed. It’s probably going to be a while before the forum is fixed… If it is.

Topic: Sandbox Hero / Kongpanions

My point was that, while the Kongpanions are far more useful than Commons/Uncommons, they’re more on-par with a decent Rare or an average Epic/Legendary. While an extra 2.7 jumps (artie) is useful, there’s not much I can do with 8 jumps that I can’t with 5— Either a level is designed “open”, in which case it can be passed, or it’s designed closed. If someone thinks their map will be ruined by folks jumping over, they should make a closed map or enable pure.

Signatures, obnoxiously large avatars, and titles/moods are on their way.

Seriously, though, stop trying to update things.

Oak, I assume you don’t have good items. As someone running all legendaries, I assure you that the Kongpanion stats are a relatively tiny boost.

Plus, as others have said, it’s easy to make it impossible to jump over the level.

This is a bad idea and you should feel bad. The simplicity of the forums is one of the only things that Kongregate hasn’t ruined in the past couple years.

I say, my maps are quite reputable. Just look at the thousands of coins and hundreds of thousands of XP people have farmed across them.

Topic: Sandbox Hero / Can ffgthg54 be banned based on the Kongregate rules? (Really, I'm asking the question)

Nope.

Kong has, up until now, refused to issue a ban for anything that occurs within a game.

It’s not like banning will stop him anyway. It only takes a few seconds to make a new kong account— What needs to be done is some sort of in-game system to either stop people from rapidly posting maps or to delete maps with close creation times and the same name.

As far as Gravity’s implication that I’m involved— I find this very amusing and would love to see our spamming friend return. My experiments with map-spam (on alts) have been relatively unsuccessful, and it appears that there is some sort of rate throttling that our buddy has found a way to bypass.

Topic: Sandbox Hero / Moderation: Why it's necessary and how to implement it.

Moderators are no more effective against spamming alts than a (decent) spam-prevention would be. Most rooms go without any moderators for several hours per day, whereas an automated spam-prevention is always present. Kong chat used to have a quite decent one, until it randomly disappeared, and I doubt it’d be difficult for the devs to put one with relatively few holes in-game.

There’s all sorts of amusingly broken things we can do currently (One of those being the republish glitch to lock ratings). I still find the spam amusing, even if fghtyhgjsh did decide to dedicate a few maps to me— It’s just another thing that could be fixed in a multitude of ways, without necessarily requiring moderators. Simply adding a few minute timer between publishes would stop all but the most dedicated of spammers.

It’s also worth noting that Kong’s moderation of chat is so incredibly incompetent (and incredibly biased) that there’s very little chance of moderation in-game being much better. These things should be automated, not reliant on humans.

Topic: Sandbox Hero / Leveling

Fxie, don’t lie to the noobs.

Once you’ve played a map, you have to refresh the page to be able to get fresh XP/coins from it. The green check wont disappear, but it will pay you again. This is very useful for farming.

I think votes should be more effective the higher adventurer level you are. (till lv5) This will get rid of most lv 0-5 trolls with the 0 rating on levels so they’re levels have a chance to reach top. And the lower lv people still have their vote in on a level.

As one of the two highest-levelled players, I see no way in which this could possibly go wrong.

Topic: Sandbox Hero / So, about gems.

Based on my item rates:

~1/33 crates will have a rare or better. (3300 gold value average)
~1/125 crates will have an epic or better. (12500 gold value average)
~1/500 crates will have a legendary. (50000 gold value average)

So, you’d likely see a price on gem crates in the 10-25K coin range (to account for increased epic/legendary rates), if they were made available at all.
