Topic: General Gaming / Looking for a Flash RPG

I’ve been searching for a specific RPG for a while now and it’s been driving me nuts. It was a Lovecraftian RPG, where a detective went into a town and ends up having to stop a cult from summoning demons. I’ve looked through the entire RPG and Strategy section and still can’t find it and would appreciate if anyone knows what I’m talking about. Thanks in advance and sorry for the vague request.

Topic: General Gaming / RPG Shooter: Starwish

Just a question:to get the Ginny ending, it’s said I have to avoid dying. Does that include the Prologue? Because even on New Game +, I can’t beat that fight….
Not to mention some minor collision detection problems which automatically cause me to fail a level despite being at full health…

Topic: General Gaming / Most Over-rated and Under-rated games ever!

Underrated:Terranigma, Live A Live, MARDEK Warsong, Zone of the Enders(all three of them), Castlevania Lament of Innocence, Road of the Dead (so far at least…), Birth By Sleep, The Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space Extraction…

Overrated: I agree with the most current FPS’ being overrated. There’s also a lot of stuff on the main page here (Cursed Treasure, Epic Battle Fantasy 3, Sonny 2…), and finally, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Now don’t get me wrong, these are all good games. But they’re definitely not the best around.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / As much as I enjoy playing this game...

I’ve heard Chapter 4 might be the last one done in AS2, because AS2 is just too old now, and he’ll be switching to AS3.
However, if there really is some world altering even in Chapter 4, perhaps we’ll start back at level 1 in Chapter 5? Though at this point, nobody knows.

Topic: General Gaming / I don't get it.

Bah, people only care about graphics nowadays. Simple enough.
People take one look at MARDEK’s pixel style and run away or start complaining, and they all love those silly anime/chibi styles.

Also, people don’t care about a good story nowadays. EBF3’s story is barely there and is..well…complete and utter crap. While MARDEK is more of an equal amount of story and battles.

Simply said, EBF3 appeals to the casual audience, while MARDEK appeals to those who want to play a real RPG.
EBF is a good game, but definitely not the best around. Its also pretty short, I finished it in 8 Hours, and it took about 60 hours to finish everything in MARDEK.

You know, as much as I hate reviving random threads, you have to admire the variety and intricacy of all those sprites.

Oh god, someone else has heard of Terranigma. Definitely one of the best games ever, despite not coming out in the US at all.
Though if I had to say…Birth By Sleep is definitely Number 1 for me.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / now to wait

Currently, he’s remaking his website as well as starting a new game, Chimera, in AS3, a programming language which is pretty much new for him… It’ll probably take a few months(3,4) to finish the project, since he isn’t going to take any vacations until at least October…
Otherwise, M4 will probably be worked on randomly, but I expect a Winter 2011 release…

Forgotten Faces don’t use Spirit Nova. Green souls do. They tend to do it randomly, as they like to use Soul Flame and physical attacks…

Hello. I just wanted to ask, does anyone know how many Gold and Silver Ores there are in total? The first page doesn’t tell so…
I heard there were 5 Silver Ores and 3 Golden Ores, but that makes 1 Item Impossible to craft(you need 4 Golden ores)…So I’d appreciate any accurate answers…

Have you tried revisiting areas from Chapter 2? You may find a pier you can dive into, or some Dream Circles you couldn’t use before(Gem mines, Tainted Grotto, Canonia Woods).
Also, finish the pixie quest, and try returning to the Dark Temple…Perhaps to a room that was locked or had something of a crystalline nature in the middle…
There’s something weird in the Earth Temple Crystal Room…Check your map and try touching everything…
There’s a cave in the first area of Dreamwood…Try it out. Find all the switches if you can’t…
17 isn’t required, as you get it for beating the final boss. Don’t worry about it.

Yeah, sorry, my mistake. He dislikes blood and gore, and FPSs and sandbox games like GTA, and all that stuff.
He’s even retconning Raider because Pirate suggested the main character killed other people and stole from them, while he actually just pillages already abandoned places.
Anyway, I’m going off-topic with this, so I’m going to shut up now.

I suppose, musically, Solaar’s theme was inspired by Red XIII and Cosmo Canyon music from FF7. Or at least, that’s what Pseudo himself said on the music page of his website. Here’s the quote:
“…Parts of this were inspired – rather vaguely – by Red XIII’s theme (or the Cosmo Canyon music) from FFVII…”

Also, Pseudo doesn’t own an XBox, nor does he like games with violence or shooters in any way, so yeah, couldn’t have gotten it from Mass Effect. Plus, he directly quotes the Bible, so yeah.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / Is the water staff missable?

Sorry if it seemed like I said that the Mahogany Staff is missible…what I meant is that you could be getting that instead of the Trilobite Staff, because its more useful.
Anyway, Posh Zombies are rare encounters, but they don’t disappear. Also, you can use them to farm Expensive Suits and Staves, which sell for 10000 and 8000 gold respectively.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / Is the water staff missable?

I said in my post that Sapphire Bangles give Null Water Once. There’s no way to miss it. And Aquamarine gives Whirlpool.
In the end, the Trilobite Staff has no skills you can miss. It just serves as the best staff till Yggradsil’s Finger, as it gives a +1 to VIT,SPR,AGL, and STR, as well as having a higher critical chance than other staves.
So really, you’re not missing anything. The thing you could be missing is the Mahogany Staff, which gives you a Magic Drain +10%, meaning you drain 10% of the damage you inflict with spells…(Dropped by Posh Zombies).

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / Moric Question

To add to all of this, its said that you don’t need Dark to animate the dead. There are Earth and Light zombies too, so he probably just used different types of magic. Also, read the encyclopaedia. It pretty much says that Moric was the weakest of the Governance, which also explains why Social Moric is the actual final boss(the fight with regular Moric was just too easy, what with the zombies and all…).
Then again, Qualna hates fighting, yet is stronger than Moric…

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / Is the water staff missable?

You aren’t missing much, really. It only gives you Null Water Once, something you can learn from Sapphire Bangles, but it does have a +1 to every stat on it…

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / noob question about mereador

Odd…I thought people would appreciate Mereador more…Mainly, his Mirrors and Repair.
As stated above, Repair turns Legion into an indestructible death machine(and constantly getting stronger). Also, if you equip the boots of Celerity, you can easily set up Shield and M.Shield on your entire party before anything even hits you(though this is obviously useless against Animus). Also, the flamethrower and Drill are nice(for reducing DEF that is).

Go to Deugan’s House. Read the bookcases. Go to the two libraries. Read bookcases. Go to Cambria. Read the bookcases. There, all 9 of ‘em(6 in Deugan’s house, 1 in Xantusia, 1 in Cambria, and 1 after interacting with a Miasmal Chalice).

Um…I think the above above poster meant Red XIII.
Also, sure he isn’t a Ninja and doesn’t have a dog, but that’s mainly because he’s his own character…Probably just a reference or reminder in the end…
Woah!…What is that? No wonder Bone Demon was just a palette swap of Molestors…(While beta testing, Pseudolonewolf couldn’t figure out where to put Zach’s weapon. The beta testers and I suggested the Desert Pass, so he probably just made the monster similar to this since he likes FFs so much).
EDIT: I blame my lack of a PS1 until 2001 for this….Sigh..Thanks.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / 8 chapters

Well, Pseudolonewolf stated he intends to replace all of the music starting with Chapter 5, which leads me to believe MARDEK will become a space travel RPG. Yeah, far fetched, but who knows?(Also, if you look at the Fighunter encyclopaedia, it mentions the planet in Past Tense, while everything else is mentioned in Present Tense…)
Anyway, sure Rohoph seems to be shaping up to be a villain, but then there’s also “Mister Octopus Crystal Monster”, also known as the thing inside the Violet Crystal. Perhaps it’ll wake up at some point?

Zach is more or less an African Shadow from FF6. They have similar themes, both hate talking, and both have lots of NPCs saying they’ll slit various throats for random amounts of money.

Topic: MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3 / My take on Karnos, or, why Sharla doesn't suck.

Um…You do know Gloria can learn Null Air once, right? You could have her cast that all the time, and just use Legion to drain Karnos’ SPR with Fairy Dust.
